SoundSplinter

  1. Started by carguy83,

Right now, I'm running the RLp in a 2.5 ported box, tuned to 30hz via two four inch aero's. The output is pretty decent, and the response is still fairly linear. Right now, I'm itching to redo my trunk...again...to a bigger box. I plan a 3.5 cu ft tuned to 30 hz, with 57.75 sq inch of port area. Will I notice a big increase in output? I already drew out the box plans, just debating if I want t go through with it since school is a b*tch right now. Any insights is appreciated. Thanks.

  3. Well, I'm looking to do some audio work on a '99 Integra 4-door which I recently picked up. After hearing many good things about Sound Splinter, I figure I'd give their products a try. I have been a user of RE, eD, SI, IA, RF, JL, etc. Keep in mind that I love to listen to rap with loud and low bass for demo'ing (Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, Three 6 Mafia, etc.) as well as Bass Mekanik/Bass 305 and some trance. I actually play my music low most of the time...just crank it up for certain occasions. Power-wise, I'll probably be feeding the subs' around 1200-2000 watts. Oh yeah, anyone with an Integra 4-door, is it possible to stuff two the RL-p 15's ported? Thanks! P.S. - I…

  5. i asked a friend of mine who is very knowledgable with car audio (but puts a lot of stock in modeling programs, which i dont) to help me with the port designs on my box. i was shooting for a 4 ft^3 @30 hz box, when i asked him about it, this is the reply i got. he recommends 33hz, but i was shooting for 30 because i want this to hit LOW. To be honest with you, I think 4 cubes for those 2 subs is too big. The Qts on these subs is so low, that they really want a smaller box. I found that 1.5 cubes (each) tuned to 33hz gives a nice flat response. With the 1.5 cubes per sub (3 cubes total), you'd need 2 4" ports at 17.4" long each, or 3 3" ports at 15" long each. If you jump…

I'm going to be running 4 Signature 12"s ported and the most I can muster up for each is 1.25 cubes ported to 33Hz with 500w to each. Is this going to be sufficient air space for them to function properly?

I just recently purchased 4 RLP 15's. This is my first SoundSplinter purchase. I bought the dual 4 ohm version. I have a enclosure built that is 13.14 cubic feet NET volume. All 4 subs share the same 13.14 cubic foot chamber. The port is 6x 24 with a length of 18" tuning it to roughly 31.5 hz. These will be fed by a hifonics colossus. My options are to give each sub 750 watts each or 600 watts each. With each sub seeing 3.2 feet will I be over powering them?? Any suggestions would be helpful. I can easily slug the box if needed. Also, any thoughts on all 4 subs all sharing the same air space? This is for a LSQ daily driver with a emphasis on lower octaves. "I mainly listen…

I was originally going to go sealed 2.1 cuft enclosure for a pair of Soundsplinter RL-p 15"s from my box builder. However, he worked out the specs and told me a 4th order bandpass would work better and worked out a response curve. What do you think? Will this work better for Sound quality purposes? The yellow line is the response for sealed 2.1 cuft and the teal is bandpass response. He didn't give me any enclosure size details except the exterior dimensions... " The dimensions you will want to know about are 31"d, 41"w, 18"h at the front, 4" high at the back, and the horizontal part of the box extends 10.75" from the front, which is the depth needed for the sealed cham…

i know were no supposed to, but 1.these proto 8s i have right now are simply amazing. 2. the rl-p 12 gets noticeably lower than the 8s. the orion 2500d that will arrive shortly is probably dangerous for either the 12 or the pair of 8s, but if i ran all 3 could it work, the 8s giveing me that awesome 'snappy' flavor, and the 12 that 'evil' low it does so well? all shareing 2500wrms? all sealed? i have read we cant mix sub sizes but what the hell, ive been told alot of things in my life and i never listened to it then? im gonna try it, how do i configure (wire) (2) 6 ohm subs and (1) dual 4 ohm sub to get the best from an orion 2500D? series parallel/paraleel...i cant even…

Hi again guys. Well I got my HU and 4-channel amp all installed so that leaves me with the sub and sub amp now. Originally I was going to go for a 10" Rl-i, but I would REALLY like to fit a 12" Rl-p into my single cab (1999 F-150). I took a few measurements and it looks like it will work. Tight, but it should work. It can either be forward facing, or down firing Questions... 1) How much space is reccommended to be left around the edge of the sub when mounting it? 2) How much space does the magnet need from the back of the box? 3) Is there a big sound difference between a forward facing sub and a down-firing one? 4) How much space should I leave in front of the …

According to the website: Optimal Car: 0.65 cu ft net volume sealed 0.55 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 32 Hz Is this right? This is the first time I see a vented box with a smaller net volume then a sealed box. If I end up with a RLi-10 and go with a ported box tuned to 32 Hz, the net volume would be about 0.8 ft^3. How would having a larger net volume effect the sound of the sub? And one more question to the actual Sound Splinter guys. Can you tell me what the shipping cost of a RLi-10 to zip code 96819 (Honolulu, Hawaii). EDIT: I just notice this on the same page: Acceptable: 0.4 -…

  18. First of all I want to say thanks to Mike for kickin ass and I love my RL-p. So I have an RL-p 12 in a .55cuft net sealed box (its inside the cab of my car behind the pass seat, I hate the way trunks make bass sound muffled and quiet). It's running off of a PPI 2150 (about 500-600wrms). I had a local high end audio shop run software for this sub (and confirmed their numbers with other internet sites) for a Q of .7 Seeing how that is what most sq people rec I went with that. My question, the speaker seems to distort when driven hard and I'm trying to figure out if it is the speaker distorting or the amp clipping. Freeair testing this sub it looks like it can move way fart…

My 2nd 18" RL-p was to be delivered today. While at work I checked on-line and it showed delivered. When I got home it was gone, Stolen. Sometime between the time I left work and got home (20-30min) someone got to it. I'm not in a bad neighborhood so I'm not sure who took it. I asked all my neighbors, but of'corse no one saw anything. I filed a police report (knowing I'll never see it), but I guess it's the thing to do.

  21. Hey guys, I'm new to this site. I'm about to buy an RL-P 12, but I'm not sure whether to get the D4 or the D2. What's the difference? Does my car have anything to do with it? If it does, I drive a 2000 Toyota Camry. Also, the amplifier that was recommended to me is this one = Audiobahn A8000T, is that a good choice? Also, I need a box for it, what would be a good box to get? Is it hard to build one? Thanks a lot guys, Chris
