OK, so after many months of procrastinating, I finally got around to building it. Now keep in mind when looking at these pix, it's far from done. This was a quick build to make it to a show. I still have a lot of the "beauty" trim to put up, wires to clean up, and tuning to do to the amps. So with that being said, it's on to the pix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my old setup The new build My door panels with 2 MAW 6.5"s & 2 Fusion Power Plant Tweeters to each door Be genital with the remarks & comments, lol. I know it's not a "true" wall, but I go through so many ideas that I wanted to be able to take it out later, lol.

First off, I currently have one in a ported box in my truck. I've never owned a sealed box, so I don't know what to expect. I can get 9.5cubes total (before displacement) for the subs. They will be pushed by 2 Infinity 1211a's (one to each). So my question is............ Will I be happy??? I know this is a silly question, and one that really can't be answered till I build it, lol. But it never hurts to try.

I've owned my 2 RL-P 12's for over a year now. Although the subs were used when I got them. I've had them in 3 separate cars and in 4 different enclosures. Its hard to describe how much I love these subs, they have a unique sound to them that I just don't want to give up. Right now I have them in a blowthrough style enclosure in a 00 S10 regular cab. The box is 5.1cu ft. tuned to 30hz using 2 aeroports. I'm still using that Hifonics 1600 watt amp, it seems to be about a perfect match in my opinion. My upper stage consists of 2003 era Rockford Fosgate, Fanatic X components. With a RF 300.2 amp. I listen to mostly Metal and Rock. With Rap thrown in when I want to poun…

I can get an Alpine MRD-M1005 for around $200. It does 1000w RMS x1 @ ohms. Would this be too much power for it? Thanks, Logan

OK, these are crud MS paint drawings, but you get the ideas, lol. I plan on starting this tonight. I'm just not to sure which one to go with. 4 6" flair ports, or 1 big slot port. I'll get more port area with the slot port, but I do have 4 6" flairs sitting here as well. On to the specs & drawings. I used bcae1.com for my results with this. Click on pix to make them bigger. Slot port specs & drawing 6" Flared ports specs & drawing What are your thoughts? Should I go with the obvious, more air space with the slot port? Thx for the help & input guys.

My RL-p18 is arriving tomorrow, the box i am going to build will be 5.3ish cf tuned to probably 29hz. This will be a dual-2 model running off a Sundown SAZ1500 @ 1 ohm. Will 1500+ rms be o.k. for the RL-p in this size box? the box will have about 60 sq inches of port, will that be enough? btw, i used the RE box calculator to mess around with some designs. I have heard that their tuning is a little off, does anyone know about how much so i can compensate for it? sorry about all the questions, I just dont want to eff up the sub Thanks, Cody

Hey guys, I don't like my current box so i'm thinking about making another one. My current one is about 2.6ft^3 @ ~32, and the one I want to make is 2ft^3 @ 29 ^^ Thats the one I'd be building. From the free box plans at Caraudio.com . Would it be worth enough of my time to make a new box? The one I have is too big I think.

Hello Mike. It is all over the TC Sounds/Audiopulse forum that TC is going under. Will this affect your business and if so what do you see SoundSplinters future being?

Took a few hours tonight and threw this new box together for my pair of RL-i8s. I think it came together well, won't be able to test it out until the morning. Might run a roundover on the edges, what do you think?

every company gives a recommended port area, or people like to use about around 12-15 square inches of port per cubic foot. ive got a rl-p 15 and am drafting a new box to fit under my hatch cover for better security reasons. my current box is 4 cubes after disp. at 30hz w/ 55.5 square inches of port.(in love) the one im drafting is will be 3.5 after disp. at 32.5 w/ 67.5 square inches of port. i dont know when i plan on building the new one, maybe when i have the cash flow and a job lol so how do you know you

Mike, whats the possibility of an RL-p 8? I imagine its been discussed before. Probably not enough demand for 8s to warrant having two lines competing with each other. On another OT note to save topic space...anyone actually running the RL-p 18s in car yet? I loved my 15s to death, 2.75 ported was incredible -- just amazing for a 15 to work so well in that size box.

This by far is will the biggest cabinet I have ever designed and to be built. The customer is using a RL-s 15 for Home Audio. The cabinet is 29" w x 29" h x 38" d and the entire beast is 1" MDF - Triple Baffled w/ the subwoofer recessed and braced like a solid brick sh!t house. The back of the cabinet is within the interior of the cabinet with a 6" space to the exterior back for mounting an plate amp. The space isolates the plate amp for the enclosure interior. The customer requested the bracing to be pure overkill to deaden the enclosure. A custom grill cover will be done that slips within the recess cutout which the front part of the grill cover will protrude beyond …

Well, it's been a while since I've posted on this site and need to update my success with the RLP/passive design. For those of you who have read the following thread, a lot has changed. (about 2,400 visits to the thread) http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...shmike&st=0 By hitting each of those drivers in the sub cabinet with 1450 watts each, my wife blew the speakers while changing movies to a hard hitting Jurassic Park scene via Direct TV. I couldn't get to the living room in time to shut it down. I had to order two more drivers from Mike and received them promptly. Being dual 2 ohm, I wired all 4 coils on both drivers in series and am now presenting an 8 …

Hey guys just looking for some opinions on this. Right now I have a JBL W15GTi in 6.5cuft @ 35Hz running off an Earthquake PHD5000 monoblock. I have a Sony MEX-BT5000 head unit and American Bass 0 gauge wire. So that's my system...anyways the point is I'm getting an 88 Chrysler LeBaron and somehow I just don't see my big box fitting in it. I don't really want to make a smaller box because I like the way it sounds now, plus I'd like to have some trunk space anyway. So this is where I thought of selling my JBL and buying 3 Soundsplinter RL-i 8's in 2 or 3 cubes tuned to 35 ish Hz? I think this would better suit the car and with the surface area of 3 8" cones I could have th…
