i was checking out some of the graphs ppl have come up with for their rl-p's in different enclosures. the bigger enclosures seem to have a greater impedance rise. so does that mean if u go with a 3 cube enclosure at like 32 hz with a smaller rise then say a 3.5 cube enclosure at 35 the woofer will be seeing more power throughout the entire frequency range? i always thought that larger enclosures ment deaper and louder bass? kinda new to most of this technical stuff. if anyone could help clear this up it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, just looked over your site and saw you shipped internationally. Wondering if you guys are able to ship to Australia, and if so, what would a (rough) estimation be to ship a Rlp-18 to Melbourne per driver? Cheers.

Hi everybody, I used to have a 10" Alpine type-R powered with a 300w RMS amp from Hifonics, these got stolen so i need a new bassmaker After emailing with mike from soundsplinter, i've decided to purchase a RL-i 8 D4 as soon as they are back in stock. So for now i'm looking for a good/affordable amp to use this woofer to its right. The Rl-i8 will be getting a sealed box, to get a nice SQ setup. I really would like to hear some suggestions for a good amp and how to set this up right! Thanks! FYI the RL-i8 will be working together with the following components: Front: Polk DB6750 Rear: Polk MMC690 Powered by a Polk C400.4 These speakers get about 100w RMS from this amp.…

I've always had 12s sealed. One of my favorite setups I had believe it or not was my old JL Audio W3D4 12s sealed with 500 watts. IMO they got plenty loud for the power and souded good to boot. How would a pair of the RL-i 10s compare vented with 600 watts?

Hello, Somewhat of a newbie when it comes to subwoofer systems and I am looking for some advice. I currently have a SoundSplinter RL-p15 in an ported enclosure, the enclosure is "4.694^3ft gross box vol. Slot port, 15" x 2.5" x 35.25" Long tuned @28Hz. After all displacement, 3.503^3ft net box vol". I am currently powering it with a ALPINE PDX-1.1000 and I have a second ALPINE PDX-1.1000 available that is not being used. It really hits and I do enjoy the setup however I end up wanting more power thus my question: If I was to replace the RL-P15 with 2 RL-P12's and power each with a ALPINE PDX-1.1000 what kind of difference would I be looking at from the single 15? It seems…

Hi again Mike..... The first thing I want to mention is I don't see any posts in regards to your drivers being used in the home theater market. Most or all of the posts are for autos and SUV's. Are you selling many for home use yet? If so, I guess they aren't posting in the forums. It's been a while since I've visited your forum. My subwoofer is still performing flawlessly! My system has become such a hit that folks with new music and movie DVD's are coming out of the woodwork to come over to view them for the first time on my system. It wouldn't be complete without your subs.... As you might remember, I'm running two of your RLP 15" in a single box which has the r…

I have an amplifier that is rated 400 watts RMS @ 2ohms. I also have a 1.8 cu ft vented enclosure tuned to 30 hz. Is this a good match for a 12" RL-p or would I need more power? I saw that this sub is rated between 500-1000wrms. Thanks

Finally found a RL-i8 for sale but it is a D4. I have been gifted a Audison VRX 1.500 from my cousin. The amp puts out 500 watts into 4 ohms and 1000 watts into 2 ohms. The sub will be used in a sealed enlosure built with SQ as the most important quality. SPL is NOT a concern of mine. Ideally a single 4 ohm driver with 500 watts would be ideal but I haven't been able to find one. So is 1000 watts too much for a RL-i8 D4?

I have been learning to use winisd beta, and it is really strange how the rlp models. it suggests like a .4 cube box with a port freq of 38hz. When i punch in 2 cubes at 28, it has an odd peak very low, and is like 2-3db down as the freq increases. Conversely, i also have an ED 13ov.2, and it models quite linearly in similar boxes. ( i have run them both in the same box, and they do sound quite similar) any ideas?

OK, I know ported would be most peoples choice, lol. Here's the thing. I can get 8.5cubes if I keep the box below the window & seat line. That is ideally what I would love to have. That would be enough to go sealed with my 2 RL-p 18"s. My problem is, I know how I am with my bass, and I don't know if I'm going to be satisfied with a sealed box. The only way I could do a ported box is by doing a wall. I can get more than 18cubes if I went that way. My problem with that is, I like looking out my back window, lol. Not to mention that in competitions it puts me in a higher class. I don't want that either, lol. I know I'm being difficult here, but I figured I would ask just…

Once again i forgot to take more pics during the build. i was too eager to finish lol. these are some beefy 8s! i had a couple of 4" aeros i wasn't using so i decided to use it for this build. the circles on the flush panel didnt come out 100% round. i need a jasper jig and router. putting the port together... test fit currently have it in my car til he picks it up. got my arc sending the pair around 800 or so. i'm VERY impressed with their output. to my ear, it's close to my RLp 15 sealed. SQ is pretty nice as well. it's pretty punchy with rock and stuff, quick with the dance/techno, and drops low with hip hop. i think he'll like it.

My friend and I built a box for his 1998 silverado extended cab. He has 2 15" rlp's and an Orion 1200w amp. The box is a total of 8.461ft^3 with 69.75in^2 of port area and port length of 26 inches. The box is so big it can only be fired up or down. It is currently firing up and my friend is not satisfied with the output of the subs. There is a lot of pressure but not a lot of volume. He would like to stick with the same box. Would changing the tuning from 28 to 35 hz make a big difference? Do you think that facing it downward would make that much of a difference? If so how much space should there be between the box and the floor? Any other ideas besides get a di…

i have a rl-p 15 and built the recommended 3 cubes sealed box for it. sounds great, just not that great of output. ive always had sealed boxes and my last setup 3 10's jl w3's was louder than this lol. had a bit more cone area but anyway you get my point. since everyone says this sub does better in ported enclosures, i was thinking of just adding 2 4' psp ports tuned to 30hz to the current 3 cube box instead of building a second box like i planned. im not an spl nut at all, i just need something with like (trying not to use the term LSQ here) some sqballs! lol would 3 cubes ported be to small for a 15?
