First off, I'd like to express my most sincere thanks to denim and mrray13 for their support and assistance in getting this forum setup! The SSAudio community has shown itself to be friendly and informative, and I believe, the perfect home for SoundSplinter's online forum. That being said, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. Name's Mike and I've always been a huge fan of music, both as a happy listener as well as a performer for my own personal enjoyment. I grew up on many years of formal keyboard/piano instruction but have since moved towards teaching myself the guitar as I have fallen in love with its portability and versatility. Having such a close co…

so i've had interest in the RL-Ps for a while now, right? I figured for the 18s I want to put in my cherokee it'd be best to use something that everyone doesnt talk about. i've seen a couple videos of the 18s in question on youtube, and they appear to be some nice drivers, so, I am curious about em. I mean I would go with the flow like everyone else and get a Fi BTL, but, too many people use em, right? well, enough of my babbling, some questions for ya. First off, what amp would you recommend for 2 18" RL-Ps? (im trying to stay cheap, but not too cheap, basically, trying to spend under 800 for an amp) Second off following the top question being amps, What would you recomm…

This was a recommendation for the RL-p 12 on another site. I was just curious what everyone thought. For SQ purposes, try this: 1.2CF net (.6CF per driver), tuned at 24Hz, 22.5 ~ 25 square inches of port area. The problem is going to be vent length (causing the enclosure to be quite large), but it should sound extremely good if implemented properly. These drivers are best suited for low-tuned vented apps. They will work sealed, but if you can make this enclosure work, I think you will be pleased with the boost in overall output while maintaining excellent SQ and extension. The driver has an extremely strong motor. It doesn't need a very large enclosure at all, especia…

Im building a box to fit in the middle seat of a dodge ram so this is what I could do 1 12" RL-p sealed in a 1.5 cuft box or 2 12's in .70 cuft stuffed with pollyfill. If I used 2 12's they would both get 750 watts. These box sizes are after sub displacement. What would you guys do.

Hi guys. I'm getting ready to install a 12" RL-P in my Denali. I have a directed 1100d, the sub is 2 ohms. I will be running it at 1 ohm, so I guess about 1100w rms give or take. Anyway, what's the ideal box size for a sealed enclosure for 1 12" . Space isn't a huge issue, however I would like to keep the cargo area of the suv useful. Thanks, Austin

Hi all, I am in the market for a system and have decided on Soundsplinter...Here's is my dilemma: Car will be 2002 Honda Accord Coupe, and here is what I have planned: HU: Pioneer DEHP9600 $400 Front: Rainbow SLC Kickbass 6.5" Comp 280 Rear Fill: some decent 6x9 100 4-ch amp: PG Xenon 100x4 (100wx4 @ 4 ohm) 300 Sub amp: Kicker zx750.1 300 Sub: Soundsplinter I was gonna go with 1 12" Rl-p w~ 750W after reading many positive reviews from caraudio forum. I want clean, tight, distortion free bass with decent output (used to have a…

I have one of each (amp & sub stated in the title), and I'm trying to figure out which amp/sub combo would be best. The 18" will be in a ported box. 5.2 net tuned to 34hz, and the 15" will be 3.4 net tuned to 34hz as well. What's your take on this? Thx, Vic.

today after carpeting my box, i hooked up my multimeter to wire coming from the box. the speakers are wired in what should be a 1 ohm load. exactly the same as the fosgate diagram, except that my + and - from the amp are not both to opposite coils of the same speaker, the + goes to one speaker, and the - goes to the other speaker. what gives? i never did check it before so i dont know if i've been running 1.5 ohms since i hooked it up or not.

I'm trying to understand ported boxes and trying to find somthing i'll like for my 12" RL-p D2 thats powered with 600watts. What would be the difference between a ported box that is 1.75@32hz VS one that is 2.0@27hz? or one that is even at 2.0@32hz? Which one would u go for? I'm confused with box size and tuning freq. Thanks for any help you may give
