First off, to those who have helped me with my mid bass thread. I'm still planning/ listening as time allows. Thank you, to those that have offered help , you know who you are, it's greatly appreciated and I should have some updates soon. O.K., I figured I'd better get off my ass now that i have some time and get the subwoofer box on its way. This is an enclosure for 4 sa-8's, 3.6 c.f. (net) tuned to 33 hertz with 52.875" of port. It will be driven by a sundown saz-2000d @ 1 ohm. This is going in my 2000 ranger extended cab pickup. Everybody has seen enclosures with kerfed ports, but not like this one I'd bet. I was originally going to do a double kerfed port, but in the…

  6. Hey guys, just wanted to show my build I just got done a few weeks ago. I've had a quite of few different setups recently and am finally very happy with how it is now. My box is about 22 cubes after displacement with 320" of port area tuned to 32hz. All walls were doubled up, and the inside was fiberglassed and braced, its very strong and HEAVY! Each of the 40.1 amps are at 1 ohm, and my electrical consist of a DC power 250 amp alt. Kinetik 1800 up front and 600AH battery bank in the rear. Havent got in on the meter yet and honestly I'm not to concerned with it. This was meant to be a daily driving ground pounder, and it is definitely that. It gets LOWWW and loud and that…

I just purchased a 15" sp4 d1 with all the bells and whistles. Now i have read that it is best in a 4th order enclosure. In the Fi specs it states its 3-5 cubes in 4th order enclosure. Now my question is then since im a newbie at 4th order. Is this correct: ported side 5 cubes so sealed side has to be half that so 2.5/2.71(counting woofer displacement) or should the motor be in the ported side? and what do i have to tune the ported side to? what is the best tuning for this sub? This is going in a 2012 chrysler 300. I will be running a kicker zx2500.1 at 2 ohms (that should be enough power right?) . My buddy said 65 herts so is that correct? I listen to alot of dubstep and…

  13. Well, i had subs up, port back in 2 different boxes, then walled and now got design done by robin for 4th order bandpass for 2 bl 18's. Took couple pics when building, will take some pics of all in truck tomorrow. Still got to put other front on, make trim panels and repaint inside of box. But i can do all that while its in the truck. I am using matt and fiberglass on all seams inside, has 1" rods inside, and adding all thread from side to side for extra bracing. Hopefully will be finished by tuesday. Still got lot left to do, but had to put in truck while i had the extra help to move it. So far, just from playing around a little it sounds alot louder, has a total di…

The is a good friends truck. He gave me free run to do a what I want in his truck, I am keeping the budget for the entire build to $1500 or so. It already has a Kenwood headunit under the bench seat where it will stay and be operated by remote. The goal will be to leave the interior as is basically. It has a very small battery behind the seat which I may relocate to the bed if he will let me. 55 Chevy 3100 series. 350 2 barrel, automatic, Monte Carlo frame I believe, bagged with 4 switches, frame is notched and the bed floor raised to hide the air tank, compressor and wheel tubs. Its a bad ass fun truck. The goal is simply to get a nice sound in it. Nothing crazy but fair…

Gonna start the build log for this customer i'm building a box for. Here's the specs we are going for in this box. Internal Volume: 13.006 ft^3 Port Area: 232.5 in^2 Port Tune: 31.23 hertz With the max dimensions the customer wants to use, we're looking at 2.16ft^3/sub before actuall speaker displacement. This should work out right around spec to these subs. Sub up, Port back design, pretty straight forward. It's gonna be big. lol Currently the customer had a local shop (audio express, home of the $1 dollar wire fire) build him a box. They gave him three seperate boxes, two per box, with some really nasty tuning and build quality was horrible. I'm trying to remed…

  19. I'm not sure if I've made a log for this or not, but here we go. We have here my shops 1994 Isuzu Pick up truck. Old system, 12 db Drive K9 10"s on 3 db Drive A73500's. Metered 157's at 54Hz and honestly sounded like doodoo. Here we have the first quick sketch I did after seeing Scott Bowemans truck in a video. Picking up the first 1/2 of the birch plywood we needed for the build. We jump forward a bit here to half way with the box. 1/4" Steel angle iron to hold the baffle in place and help keep box together. We have the baffle in. Sealed with wood glue, then silicon over the metal and all seams. Wires for the subs ran and cleaned up a little. Bolts for the wire to…
