  3. This is my new baby. I've only had it for about a month now. Its a 1974 Dodge Charger. My problem. It only has an AM radio. That a previous owner rudely cut the wires extremely short on. So I've set out to build my own small enclosure to put in an After market DIN receiver under my dash. Not wanting to harm the original hardware any of course. Many more pictures to come. Of all parts of install. Any of your guys' thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!

  4. This system was built by a shop in California before the owner of the vehicle moved out here to Arizona. The goal of the build was all SQ and, while some of the fabrication was okay looking, alot of it simply did not match with the quality of the sound. Also, it was pretty difficult to get to all of the amplifiers or the bit one if you needed to. So, the new goals for the new build were to dress up the trunk a little bit more so that it's style would be complimentary to the vehicle and to the sound systems. The door pods needed to be redone to accept a new size speaker. The tweeter pods in the a pillar needed to be completely rebuilt to allow for a much larger overa…

This is a very fun little build for one of the guys who was there at the very start of SSA. Back in 2001 Travis was my roommate, and helped me build lots and lots of customer rides. In 2007 he bought 4 of our very first ICONs, they've sat ever since he bought them in the sealed boxes. We the other day we cracked a few of them open, and decided to put them in his 2002 Ford F150. We fired it up today for the first time, and below is the results on just 1500wRMS.

  6. Well it's time for a rebuild. I am shooting to win MECA Street 5 finals this year. I set a state record so far this year with my two death penalty 21's. 148.6 at the headrest. Thats pretty good I think, and I am very happy with it being my first year competing. I have also picked up xs power as a sponsor, and am a member of Team DBs! Now to win the finals I am going to need to get louder. In the mid 150 range. So I sold the 21's and am getting 4 2010 model Death Penalty 18's, an will be running them off of my new 40.1!! And here is the start of the rebuild. Starting with the box.

  7. I have decided to take Thomas-W's advice and build a manifold on my door to house (4) Fi IB3 18's on the top and make 2 slot ports on the bottom out of the rectangles already there. The door is 1.25" thick, I will make a template/face of the entire door adding .75" to the thickness. I'll make a 25"x25" panel to plug the ports so I can run true IB as well. Here is a pic he suggested for me. I will begin tearing the Twin Towers down tomorrow and use the wood to build the manifolds and ports. It will be nice to get the EP4000s out of the HT room cuz I haven't done the fan mods. The IB3s are custom dual 4 ohm, 4 layer IIRC, series/parallel 4 ohm bridged per EP4000 (2 EP4000…

It took a little longer then expected, but my brother and I finished his truck stereo. The center console came out great!!!! My brother did almost all of the fab work, as I was busy with school and couldn't help much. We decided to go with a sealed enclosure for the death row at about 1.5 cu ft. It sounds fantastic in his truck. I wouldn't hesitate to run them in sealed boxes. His front stage consists of aura sound buyouts and vifa tweets with the madisound XO for them. Here are some pics of the build. Took a couple weeks to do everything. The box itself is in 3 parts. The enclosure for the sub, then the separate piece with cup holders, and the top piece that house…

I call it the '64 Blazer. It is actually a 95 GMC Jimmy. But everyone calls them all Blazers anyways. The interior is being built to look like a 1964 Impala SS. Hence the name I gave it. Ryan, the owner, calls it Black Betty.

  11. Finally I got to do some real custom work again, seems like it's been forever. This customer is a great guy who loves to try out new speakers and gear all the time. He comes back regularly just to change things up a bit. This time, he wanted to take the kickpod plunge with his brand new Hybrid L3SE's and rework the door speaker position a bit. Since he does change drivers often, we had to make the door pods very user friendly so that he could. Here we go. Stackin templates to relocate the speaker location. Now, one shape. All the rings stacked up. You can see the countersinking set that is screwed into the base is removable to allow for the trim panel design. We …

  13. Did this one last week. It was actually quite a bit easier than I thought it was going to be, hardest part being prep for paint but the radio bolted right in and removing the circuit board from the factory deck allowed the climate control to work like normal without stashing the whole radio someplace. Here's the pics. The victim Here's the circuit board that needs to be removed. Just unplug the ribbon cable at the front, remove two screws and it lifts right off. I made a little ABS box to house the circuit board and cut out a hole for the Molex plugs to peek out, making the installation much easier. Here's the radio all bolted in place. Just getting an id…

So, build logs aren't really my thing. For one, my fabrication skills are easily bested by a monkey on narcotics. Second, I simply don't have the patience to stop and take pictures when I'm in the middle of doing something. But, a couple people have asked so......here it is. My attempt at building kickpanels to house the CS603CF comp set. Thank you to audiolife for lending his ears while playing with the aiming, and GrampaDon for lending a hand at wrapping the kicks. Onward to the pictures I suppose. First pictures are of the basic molds for the kickpanels. My vehicle happens to have an opening in each kickpanel location that vents into the fender area, so I fashion…

Hey everybody, I picked up my truck yesterday, so it's time for the build to begin. IT's a black Z71 on 24s for now. 133k miles, interior looks brand new, overall great shape. If you don't know me well, I'm a 15 year old and this is my first setup. Equipment I've already ordered/received: 1 D2 18" Fi BTL N2 1 AQ2200D Thinking of running a D3400 in the back. The battery in the truck is basically brand new, so I'm leaving it as is. The guy that had it before me actually had a setup extremely similar to mine; an 18" SoloX. He had the big 3 done already. I got really lucky with this, seein as how I had no idea this truck had previously had a system in it. The guy knew what he…

Well decided to take my stuff out of my 09 Ford Escape and see how it sounds in my s10 for a couple of weeks. I Know the battery needs moved and its unsafe on top of the box but this was just a throw in setup to see how it sounds. It will be secured down tomorrow. The truck is only used to pull my kubota bx25 from job to job so it doesn't get used every day but have to have some kinda tunes. The only thing that i don't like is the subs are quad 1ohm coils but they read 1.2ohms and the final ohm load is 2.9-2.6ohms depending on the mm i used. So with out another battery and a bigger alternator they arn't getting all the amp has to offer but it does get LOUD System includ…

The vehicle is a '88 Caprice two tone, gray and maroon. The box is 5.2ft^3 net tuned to about 35hz right now. The amp is a Massive D5000.1 (2500 watts rms). The sub is a 08S15L7. I'm going to cut down the length some when the owner listens and then let him choose what he likes best. I told him I could make his setup as loud or louder than his older box with 2 of the same subs. He has a massive D5000.1 (2500watts rms at 1 ohm) and it was wired to 1 ohm before and now its going to be at 2 ohm. So half the cone area and half the power. And then the box will have black carpet. I'll be mounting his amp on the box when everything is decided with an extra layer of MDF with cus…

So for xmas this year, santa was nice enough to get me a new Xcon and a Sundown SAZ-1500d v2. I previously had a Death row 12 running on a rockford amp. It sounded pretty good to me. Thought it was decently loud and hit the lows well. That was until the Xcon was in my trunk running off the sundown. I only have it set around 800 watts (electrical kinda weak) and it is louder then the Death Row was, definately alot cleaner, and hits the lows way better. Both the boxes were tuned to about 30hz. I love the Xcon, and can see what all the hype was about. They are phenomal sounding woofers, and get pretty loud. Can't wait till I can run some more power to it. Anyways…
