I want to take short time aside to thank Don and his company Sound Deadener Showdown for making great products. He was VERY helpful on telling me what i need and did not try to sell me more the what was necessary to make an extra buck, i recommend his company products to anybody that really wants a quite ride. The products: 16 CLD Tiles 1 roll Extruded Butyl Rope 1 sheet 1/4" CCF The CLD Tiles went on my doors real nicely, they were easy to cut and shape with scissors.. but not so much with a box cutter lol The Extruded Butyl Rope can stretch FAAAAAAAAAAAAR as fuck! i took about a piece the size of my thumb and pulled it about 6-12 feet -- just for shits and giggles. The …

I have a 2004 BMW 330Ci. Here is a list of what I have: Eclipse AVN-5435 Audiocontrol Overdrive, ESP-2, DQX, and DDC US Amps USA 200x - tweeters (50x2) US Amps USA-400x - midrange (100x2) US Amps USA-2000x - sub (2000x1) OZ Audio CS-180 (old school superman logo) 1 Fi Audio Q12 D2 in a 2.0 cu ft box tuned to 33 hz with 24 in of port area (small, I know). I just purchased an 06 RE XXX 12 to replace my 05 XXX 12. Then I heard about Fi so I bought a Q12 just to try it out. The customer service was excellent and the sub was rushed to me in time for Heatwave in San Antonio (USACI). I got the box which was similar to RE's packaging. The box was ravaged but the sub was okay. No…

  3. So the package arrived at the shop and I could barely restrain my excitement. I had been reading a lot about the Hertz Mille set and found a brand new set for a real steal. The MLK165 set uses the ML165 mid driver, the ML28 tweeter, and the MLCX 20 crossover, which is amazingly HUGE! The mid is really a piece of art, very well constructed with an oddly shaped “V-cone” for better off axis dispersion. The tweeter comes with 2 “chambers” which seem to act as aperiodic membranes, altering FS from 1200Hz with the small to 920Hz with the large chamber. Hertz recommends the large chamber for best sound, and I agree that lowering FS is beneficial here as well, so I went with the …

Overview The Bravox company is located in Brazil and was founded in 1953 by a group of engineers who wanted to manufacture high quality loudspeakers for a variety of clients. They have been successfully doing just that ever since, turning out eceptional quality loudspeakers for many establishedbrands of home audio, as well as their own line of quality car audio products. The company is vertically integrated, which means they basically design, tool, produce, and manufacture all of the individual parts and components that go into the speakers they produce. This technique allows for excellent quality control and consistency in the performance of the finished products…

Little background on my current setup, Two ZCON 12's wired to 1 ohm, 1 Mechman 320 amp alt with run of 4/0 positive and negative the rear, one Odyssey PC1800ft (a second sitting in my shed), and one Diehard Platinum 65. The back story/Good I ordered my HD8k from DJSTAGE Gear I paid about 8xx for it and it shipped from Florida and took a dismal week plus out here to California. When I got my package, it was well packaged; although minimally. My first thoughts, extremely light and overall better build quality than the TS4 channel. The pots seemingly had much less play than the 4 channel which was great news. Also the Power, Clipping, and Protection is a nice touch, while …

  6. This review is in the current issue (September 2011) of Performance Auto & Sound Magazine and it was performed by Gary Springgay. If you are the type of person that takes your bass seriously, the crew at Sonic Soundlabs will understand where you’re coming from. Sonic Soundlabs is a subwoofer company based in Homosassa Springs, Florida and they build some of the most intense subwoofers available anywhere at any price. With six different series of woofers available, you can bet they will have a woofer that’s just right for your level of commitment. The Sonic Soundlabs woofers are hand assembled here in the U.S.A, and are deliberately overbuilt to exceed their customer’s…

It's taken WAY too long to get this done. Bought the sub for her Christmas of '09, bought the box from Argent Audio this Christmas and was just finally able to get it painted and installed this weekend. Don't worry, for all you speaker porn addicts, she took pictures and a couple of vidoes, I'll post them up as soon as she's got them sent to me. The box is 2.25cuft NET tuned to 31Hz, the topic for the box quote and the posted design is HERE. I have the build log for her Durango posted HERE. It's a fairly straightforward build with no real bells or whistles. The original sub that was installed was a very crappy Pyle Red Label 12" Square sub that she had in her previ…

First off, I bought this amp cause I just wanted to see if it really lived up to the power ratings that I saw on birthsheets and on the rated vs actual power site. I got it used for $90 shipped. (Got a great deal on it) My first impression of this amp when I took it out of the box was, wow its almost as big as my T10001bd, very heavy and solid. I hooked it up to a pair of 10's in my F150. I have had several amps in my truck JL audio, planet audio, Zapco, and a couple other I can remember off hand. Going through my music ranging from hard rock to rap, this amp blew me away. It has close to the SQ of the Zapco (probably cause its an ab class and not d class like the …

Back Story: I have had MANY different radio's in my vehicles, from Alpine to Kenwood, to Pioneers. Even had other Premiers. All have sounded about the same. I always had the Second to highest unit the companies offered, except with Kenwood as their prices are very good. And always wanted one of the high end units like the Alpine 9887, Eclipse MKII, or Pioneer 800/880PRS. But never had the money to get them. The 880 was produced from 2006-2007 I believe with the 800 being produced from 2008-2010. I finally got my chance when a local friend of mine, dvalue on here, wanted to sell his 800PRS for a Alpine 9887. Gave me a really good price so I scooped it up. Review of the …

I have received a number of pm's and emails from friends and strangers alike asking to hear more about the CSS SDX7 after I wrote about them on AudioJunkies.com. Just to give you a little background, Bob from CSS sent these to me with a pair of Extremis' in the hopes that I would be able to supply some measurements for both the SDX7 and Extremis. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and haven't captured any FR, THD, IMD, etc. But what follows is my opinion based on a few excerpts from earlier posts I made. Almost forgot...you can get the SDX7 from www.creativesound.ca for $100. I imagine they'll be available from Kyle at acoustic-visions.com in the near future as well, bu…

  14. The Kinetik KCIB12-35 is a sturdily built "intelligent" 12V battery charger with 2/10/20/35 Amp charge rates, alternator voltage check and battery recondition/desulfation functions. It features an easy to read 3-character display, four clearly marked push buttons for on/off and accessing the functions, and 4 LED indicators. It also features a heatsink that covers the majority of the front section, a built in cooling fan and the rear of the unit also functions as a storage compartment for the wires. Recondition According to the literature, as lead acid batteries discharge sulfate can build up on the plates, causing them to not fully accept a charge. Reconditionin…

Ok folks, here it is! The Mach5 Maw12 vs. the rD Classic 12 showdown! I want to thank Mark from Mach5 and Kevin From Low-hz, with a shout out to Steve from rD, for providing the subs. It ahs been fun, and it has been a learning experience. Nothing better then playing with new toys. Ok, on with the setup. The vehicle is a 2004 Chevy Silverado extended cab. There is a yellow top under the hood, 1/0 Memphis wiring throughout, and a factory 105 amp alternator. The Big 3 has been done as well, also in 1/0. The source unit is a Clarion DXZ955MC, with the HPF set to 125 and the LPF set to 80. The amplification is provided by a Memphis Memphis Belle, MCH1300, which will provi…

Well I ordered up some cable to do my next install (build log coming soon....hopefully) 4 days ago, UPS just dropped it off and 2 of the 3 lengths I ordered were not in the package. So I'm left here thinking and so I called the phone number from the website to try and figure it out. I did not get a human being right away but it only took 1 button press to get someone on the phone. A man answered promptly and I told him my package arrived and was 2 pcs. of cable short, he said he was very sorry and that the rest of my order would be shipped out today. No questions asked. I was satisfied and off the phone before the UPS man made it to the end of my block. Very nice g…

The SSD is a great sub... fing34.gif The SSD is currently being powered by a SAZ-1500d on my stock electrical along with my beautiful Pioneer 860mp as the captain of the ship Anywho When I first purcahsed the sub I only had a 4.5 cu ft ported enclosure for its home and well lets say it was a great experience to say the least. 4.5 cu ft review: 4.5 cu ft enclosure didn't really provide the SQ that I was looking for but it was loud and allowed it to produce a substantial amount of spl. Very noticable to the point it would tickle my ears and this is one sub mind you had friends that rode in my car think I had 2 subs. I enjoyed the 4.5 cu ft enclosure but due to me having cop…

Ok, first off, all pictures are in my album, so I wont repost them(saves time). I Bought the sub a few weeks ago, to replace my 4 mtx thunderr 5500 10", powered by a saz-1500d. The shipping box was ok, standard cardboard box with the styrofoam pieces in it to hold the sub. I would have hoped for a better box, as I've heard and seen horror stories with that type of box, but oh well. Build quality seems very nice, not much excess glue, all joints well glued. 2 problems I have with the build quality, small to some, but annoying to me. First is that the terminals are extremely close to the basket, less than a millimeter apart on one side and about a millimeter on the other. M…

Well, this is going to be my on going thread for my Ultra Subs SS-6 comps review. These are the comps that I won in the vendor give away. The Ultra website for these comps can be found her…

So last night I took around an hour or so to write up some huge review on my new pair of 18'' Sound Solution Audio Xcons. Unfortunately there was a url glitch and the thread is gone, so I will try to sum up my product review instead of another 5000 word essay. The SSA Xcon is an amazingly solid driver that has absurd amounts of low end output (on little power might I add) and still acts incredibly responsive, the sound quality of this sub does not hold back its ability to "get loud" one bit. I feel that the Xcon is a very under appreciated driver in today's market, so luckily for you all interested in this sub, I'm taking more time to write this second review. My enclosur…

I picked up 7 spools of the funkin audio 00ga or 2/0. It's tinned wire, it's pretty much 2/0, it's a good price and it's solid as a rock lol. The strands are nice and they're tight. The jacket sucks, I won't lie. You'll definitely need to heat it up to get it to bend half assed decent. The jacket is thick as hell, so you get plenty of protection. The wire itself looks as big as kicker hyper flex and welding 2/0. I don't have my calipers, so oh well. Overall it's a good buy for wire that should outlast the life of you car lol. Just not flexible. On to the pics. left to right FA 00, DIYMA 0ga, old stinger expert, kicker hyper flex, welding 2/0, AT OFC 0ga, K…
