I just finished installing my SSA Carbon Fiber Convex Dust Cap and I am really impressed by the way it looks. I have not taking a listen yet, though I'm sure there won't be any audibel difference. Here are a few photos I have taken. Here is a overview of both caps side by side Here you can that the original cap is "taller". Not exactly sure how this will affect anything. In this picture, it is very hard to see, but I place the new cap over on top of the other, to show that the new cap's "flanged" is just a hair bit longer. In this photo, you can see some bubbles in the crease around the cap before the flange begins. In this photo, pretty hard to see, but really really…

First off, I bought this amp cause I just wanted to see if it really lived up to the power ratings that I saw on birthsheets and on the rated vs actual power site. I got it used for $90 shipped. (Got a great deal on it) My first impression of this amp when I took it out of the box was, wow its almost as big as my T10001bd, very heavy and solid. I hooked it up to a pair of 10's in my F150. I have had several amps in my truck JL audio, planet audio, Zapco, and a couple other I can remember off hand. Going through my music ranging from hard rock to rap, this amp blew me away. It has close to the SQ of the Zapco (probably cause its an ab class and not d class like the …

The Kinetik KCIB12-35 is a sturdily built "intelligent" 12V battery charger with 2/10/20/35 Amp charge rates, alternator voltage check and battery recondition/desulfation functions. It features an easy to read 3-character display, four clearly marked push buttons for on/off and accessing the functions, and 4 LED indicators. It also features a heatsink that covers the majority of the front section, a built in cooling fan and the rear of the unit also functions as a storage compartment for the wires. Recondition According to the literature, as lead acid batteries discharge sulfate can build up on the plates, causing them to not fully accept a charge. Reconditionin…

Here I will finally submit my review for the products I have purchased thus far. I will list pros and cons for each with my most unbiased opinion. SSA ICON This was my first sub woofer purchased from SSA. I bought it used from Sean DeYoung with the AQ1200 to power it. It was in a box I believe that was 4cuft tuned to 32hz. The Sound Quality from this sub woofer was really amazing. To give it a better explanation it had a very distinct sound to it. It was very sharp, and accurate, like pin point accuracy and very quick/sharp. I believe that was its best attribute. But it was also really loud. With some early testing, I was able to do a 141 at the headrest off of a 3…

Hey everyone, figured I would copy this review I did from DIYMA First off, I wasnt honestly expecting much from a $30 subwoofer. I figured it would sound decent, probably be a bit sloppy, and hopefully give me a little thump... Boy was i wrong, big-time... I have tried a single MAW-10 in a 1.2 cube ported enclosure tuned to 26Hz, a pair in a 1.8 cube common chamber sealed enclosure, and lastly 4 of them in a 6 cube ported enclosure tuned to 45Hz(talk about a fart cannon!). I really wish I would of got around to making some different size enclosures tuned differently, but these were what I had lying around. 1.2 cube ported enclosure tuned to 26Hz- Sub had great transient …

Of all companies i have dealt with in 10 years of competing this company definitely shines above the rest I am in no way talking down other companies in anyway. I bought a set of n3s with sp4 baskets about a year and a half ago, which i decided to destroy one by playing a note outside my passband. i was able to contact Shawn Fleming whom is my hero. he was able to build me a custom recone to fit my sub and ship it out in time for the biggest truck show of the year. Through weekends and late nights i mean late; 11 pm easily this man works, Saturday Sunday doesn't matter he works his ass off. This is beyond any customer service is ever willing to do, its a friendly well com…

first off i know this thread is a little teaser w/o pics... i need to go buy a camera... pioneer p880prs ive own only one other pioneer deck which was the p8mp... a little old but the only pioneer that had the 4x60w internal amp and a 6.5 pre outs, before that i was a huge fan of alpine the 9813, 9833, 9855... all in all the pioneer p880prs completely blows everything ive owned out of the water... its extemely user friendly, the white OEL display is sharp and is clearly visible in day-light, its probably one of the cleanest h/u up to date in my opinion. and the eq is awesome... my only complaints are like most pioneers the face plate protrudes outward about a few cm and …

Earlier this year I decided to purchase a Zed Leviathan. Having owned many of Zed Audio built amplifiers in the past, purchasing a new one was a no brainer. When I received the package from UPS, it was wrapped in heavy cardboard paper. Upon removing the paper, I found a plain white box. Opening the box everything was arranged nice and neatly inside. The amplifier was contained in plastic and protected by foam padding. Along with the amplifier comes the product manual on CD (most economical way since the manual is 70+ pages long) and a small bag containing allen wrenches, mounting feet, and screws. Taking the amplifier out of the plastic, its design is simplistic yet stun…

Summary: Ok to start off let me give you a quick overview of my situation. I am a HUGE Incriminator Audio fan but as most of you know, their products are fairly difficult to come buy since they have been out of stock for some time now. I have been searching for a DP for about a year now with no luck. I had read about the Sonic FX Q in the past but had never seen or heard much about them. They are considered almost identical to the DP, so naturally I was interested. I came across this sub in the classifieds at ROE for an amazing price so I pounced on it. Now to start off the actual review. At first glance this sub has a decent profile. Not overly beefy but by no …

Through out my audio adventures, every once and a while, I have encountered the need to split the audio signal to two inputs. There are occasions where I need A male RCA to two Female RCAs or vise versa. Either way I have come across a clever solution in an unlikely place, Walmart. For $4.50 I picked this up. This is what came in the package. Not exactly the "Y" adapters you were thinking of, huh. The rubber plug is used to block off the unused RCA jack. If you need a male RCA to two female RCAs then this would be your solution. If you need a female RCA to two male RCAs, then here you go. Not too shabby if you ask me.

I'm getting ready to venture into my largest build to date. A pair of 15's off a 3K watt amp. Here is a little about the 1/0 cable I bought. What do we have here? 100ft of Radaflex 1/0 welding cable. 42lbs of copper cabling. ID markers on the cable. This stuff is good to 195 degrees Fahrenheit. I recommend some fiberglass/foil insulation for under hood use. Also avoid running this by any exhaust components. The outside diameter measures right at 5/8" The strands outside diameter measure around 7/16" There are 1580 strands of 32 AWG copper wire. A shot of my high tech measuring equipment. Verification that the measuring equipment properly zeros out. Resistance m…

I'm fairly impressed so far with this subwoofer. A few people heard it today, and couldn't believe I was running a single 12. 1st off, if you're looking for a nice, civilized subwoofer, this isn't it. When you want something just to break doors down and steal your oldest daughter, this could possibly be the subwoofer. While comparing it with the DD 9512 directly, it has better musical abilities than the DD, and doesn't give up much at all in pure loudness to the DD. I'll have them both on the meter later this week, so I'll know exact numbers then. My 1st impression after setting the gains to give the sub a clean 1500rms, which is rated power was that this thing needs more…

I have the new Mag in an enclosure that's about 1.15 cubes before displacement, so maybe 1.05 after. It's powered by a Crossfire BMF1000D, giving a rated 1000 watts to it at 1 ohm. I must admit that when I first put power to the sub I was a little disappointed. It seemed pretty lifeless. However, you must give it time to break in. After about 3 hours of listening time I was much happier. It sounds excellent, tonality is superb, and it does blend with the mids very well. I must say that it definitely sounds different than any other sub you've probably tried (though I haven't listened to any other XBL^2 enabled subs), and you probably wouldn't believe me unless you ac…

Alright so I have had my system in for a couple of months now and I have finally had some time to really get to know it. Now that the hype of having a new system is over I am starting to listen to my normal music and not just rap, so thats stuff like 311, Eve 6, and Modest Mouse. And i have to say is that, it sounds amazing for being a 15. It keeps up with the fastest drum kicks and its clean and crisp. I could not be happier with the SQ of this sub. Before i had 2 10's and those were amazing for rock but this is just as good if not better, I got the benefit of being much louder and having lower notes but did not give up any accuracy! Now for the SPL side of the Q. This …

UGH I misspelled "Torture" in the topic, wish I could fix it! Hello everyone. Over the weekend I did a review of techflex. For those of you who don't know techflex is an expandable sleeving that can be used to protect and group wiring. It comes in a variety of colors and sizes and can really help to clean up an install and make things look nice and clean. But does it protect the wire as well? Have a look at the video for the tests!

First off, let me begin by saying that the customer service at Image Dynamics is top notch... due to my improper gain settings I managed to blow through the first set of crossovers I received with the set and Eric over at ID sent me a new pair at no charge. Outstanding company. Now, to the review... where do I begin? This set is very well balanced and the price point is very low for such an exceptional set of speakers. I had mine for around $150. The massive 6.5" midrange woofer delivers clear sound, powerful & punchy midbass, and is capable of sustaining clarity at very high volume levels. In other words, it gets loud and sounds damn good doing it!! I'm feeding aro…

Little background on my current setup, Two ZCON 12's wired to 1 ohm, 1 Mechman 320 amp alt with run of 4/0 positive and negative the rear, one Odyssey PC1800ft (a second sitting in my shed), and one Diehard Platinum 65. The back story/Good I ordered my HD8k from DJSTAGE Gear I paid about 8xx for it and it shipped from Florida and took a dismal week plus out here to California. When I got my package, it was well packaged; although minimally. My first thoughts, extremely light and overall better build quality than the TS4 channel. The pots seemingly had much less play than the 4 channel which was great news. Also the Power, Clipping, and Protection is a nice touch, while …

Well I finally got my subs installed with my new USAmps xt2000d (thanks flakko). They sound better than I expected. I couldn't ask for more from small drivers in really small boxes. I'm sure they could sound alot better if I had a clue about how to setup the amp and my deck (pioneer deh-780) Thanks Mike, Flakko, and everyone that helped answer my questions. Ben

I recently had the opportunity to have an extended test session with a Mach 5 Audio IXL-10. My original setup consits as follows: 1999 Mercury Cougar coupe/hatch Eclipse CD7000 w/ ipod adapter Rainbow CMX 265 Kick Bass components, Powered by a PG ti600.2(150x2) Elemental Designs 16Ov.2(2.3 cubes @ 27hz) powered by a USAmps MD.1D(1000-1200rms @ 1 ohm) Kicker Hyperflex 0/1 guage power/ground wiring. Electrical system is stock. Seeing as I have never tested any driver smaller than a 12 before I was very hesitiant to proceed with this testing. Mostly because I am admittedly a self proclaimed "Bass Head". And going from a ported 15 to a 10 seemed a fairly extreme change. So I …

After completing my sound deadening venture about two years ago I still wanted my car quieter. Less exhaust, less road noise, and just an overall quieter interior. So I set out in search of what to use and basically found three products, Second Skin's Luxury Liner, Vertex Mobile Sound Products' Vertex Barrier, and Cascade Audio's VB-4. I started looking at the specs and comparing them. Both Luxury Liner and Vertex Barrier measured the same thickness and weight (0.375" thick, 1lb. per sq. ft.), while the VB-4 weighed the same as the other two but was thinner measuring in at 0.250" thick. All three are of similar construction, a thick vinyl mass barrier with a thicker decou…

In my quest for big sounds on a little funds I have noticed that it's all in the details. Today we look at 1/0 gauge ring terminals. Two for five bucks isn't going to break the bank, but when you're looking to buy 25 pairs, economies of scale need a second look. So this is what I found: Ring terminals at Amazon Now time for some pics. Some specifics. The eyelet measures 7/16"ID and just under 1" OD. The opening for the wire is at 1/2". The overall length is 2". Hope this helps, thanks for looking.
