So in my electrical class my group and I are doing a project on MOSFET's and I will be bringing in some MOSFETS (blown and new) for some show and tell, then I wanted to bring in my amp (saz2000) and show that off but then I looked at the board and I was like umm maybe I should learn all the parts and how the amp works! so here is my amp's guts (i got the pic from another forum the saz2000 pre-sale one!) so here is what I understand (i hope i am not 100% wrong) on the far left and right sides those are the MOSFETS, the power supply are the 4 red coils, the caps are on the bottom center and top, the teal things I don't know (top center) the pre-amp is all that stuff at …

I'm looking for a new Alpine and I'm considering the CDA-9885 for $280 or the CDA-9887 for $330. $50 more get's me the Imprint Sound and 24bit Dac. What's everyone's opinion on the Imprint technology? And what improves when going from a 1bit DAC to a 24bit DAC?

Ok , This is the question at hand say someone is looking to sell a amp, what would be a fair price to ask for a Soundstream 500/1 rubicon old school blue case??? So me, the gf and the little one are going on a trip next week and I wanna get my DVD working in my truck so the little one can watch DVD's. Now, I wanna bypass the parking system feature on it so the little one can watch a movie or 2 on the highway. I know this is illegal but its only for this trip. We usually use the gf's vehicle but hers in the shop for warranty work. Whats the easiest way to bypass this?

Can anyone recommend a good working EQ. I used to have an old PPI unit with my old set up, but I don't think it works anymore. I plan to get a SS RL-p 12, either the USAmps 2080 or 2100, CDT CL-62 and I already have a Diamond Audio 1200.1 for the sub. Are their any that I should stay away from?

I had a guy offer me a Kinetik HC600 for $30 today. He said it was in good condition and everything, just trying to get rid of all his old equipment for his new build. Are these things any good, and is this a good price for one? I was planning on getting an extra battery for my trunk soon anyway so this may help.. what do you guys think?

I have a guy that has a brand new in box Power Acoustik A1800DB amp, and he's wanting to trade it for my used Memphis 16-ST1000D. A 1800 watt for a 1000 watt.. I know PA isn't as quality of a brand as Memphis.. but it seems like a good amp. Any suggestions of whether or not I should follow through?

Lets start things off with the most info I can give. I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 ST. It is a single cab 2wd with the V6 3.7L. The alternator is a 136 amp. The voltage regulator is built into the PCM. Now I am running a Soundstream PCX1500d and will be pulling the full rms (of 1500) during competition. I have a single run of 2/0 from front to back with 2 shuriken sk-bt60 batts under the hood. I am getting ready to do the big 3 any day. My current voltage is 13.8-14.1 on a normal day. Just got a Fluke 87 ture rms multimeter My link I don't know if it is accurate or what but i read the owners manual and am mind boggled. how do I tell the voltage readout on this thing? It says ac voltage=2.5 but i know thats not right. any ideas?? Thanks Matt Cusack

I'm asking for help on choosing an HU because i'm torn between these two. I'm not to crazy about all the setting so i didn't go the 880 way. Pioneer i know about the micro fuse problem but that can be avoided by grounding it properly. Alpine don't know much about it. does any one have experience with sat radio and i-pod on these two? cuz im gonna be goin with a sat radio they seem like nice additions. thank you dan

I need some advice on my amp and hu settings. I have polk momo 6.5's running off of a zx200.4, bridged to 100.2. I have to turn my hu up to around 58 out of 62 for them to be decently loud, but i want them to be louder at a lower volume so i dont clip. I have the gains all the way off. when i go to set the amp up with my dmm, should i just put the volume at 45 out of 62 because the gain setting tutorial says put the volume about 3/4 the way up? Also, there are two gain settings on my amp. would i set each one up independently? And my final question is when i set up my amp, should i set the hu settings such as the high pass filter before i tune it? thanks for the help!!!

When I get my system together, I'd like to have some valuable time with an RTA to get the EQ (PXA-H701) setup right. Has anyone tried using this? Phonic PAA3 Handheld RTA Its not for setting up a competition vehicle or anything, but I'd like to know if it is good enough for me to get my eq flat with pink noise and I'll adjust by ear from there. Your thoughts?

What's everyones thoughts/opinions on bass knobs? I'm using my factory HU and am in the market for a new sub amp, and was wondering if I should be looking for one that has a bass knob.

tested my new spl meter and got my 155 (155.7) and then click nothing, one amp is lit blue and the other is red, is there a way to reset it, i wired them down to .5 ohms strapped, should i rewire them back to 2 ohms or what can i do to get my bass back. Its the master amp that went into protect. PLEASE HELP.............

Thanks. now onto pics. its a vulcan VI by hifonics. pretty old school amp. now from what i understand its a 2 channel amp. so im assuming that the red/black are power and ground and the one set of wires are marked - and + so im assumeing the orange is remote and the other set is the other channel? if so which is positive and which is negative? anyway thanks to danssoslow im sure ill put it to use. ohh haven't had a chance to hook it up but will tommorrow for sure. thanks Dustin.

Hey everybody, I'm looking around for an amp, so far I've been told to look up the US Amps AX3200DE and the Sundown Audio 3000. Both seem the same to me...anybody have any input on this? I'm looking to run an 18" BTL fully loaded for daily use (not so much for competition). Thanks, Andrew

Just want to wire a friends two under-dash neon's and one under the back seat to a single toggle switch mounted on the dash. Battery ---> power wire (16ga) ---> inline fuse (5amp) ---> more power wire ---> 12v power on switch Acc on on switch ---> neon x3 (splicing all together to run off the single switch) Ground switch and tube. Right? Wrong? Your feet smell? Perhaps just using the cigarette lighter in the car. Cut the wires off the back of the lighter in the dash, cut the DC adapter off of the neon, wires from lighter into switch ... ? Probably the easiest way if it works ... Thoughts and opinions. I have a unit I bought a couple years ago that I'm going to try and do a warranty exchange on. I think I paid a little over $200 for it. I could add another $200 on top of that, so $400 total. What does BB sell that is actually good? High voltage outputs (at least 4v) and ipod connection are extremely important.

I have Alpine 9857 1 SS Rubicon 502 100 watts x 2 running my front comps (A/D/S 6-1/2" 346cs) 2 Us Amps MD.1D for my subs.... I am looking to get another amp to toss my A/D/S passive crossovers and run active... If the three.1 from AC isn't gonna fit the bill what would you all recommend I'm not going for competition SQ or anything just what a nice sounding daily beater that sounds pretty darn good to the ear....

Well, i dont have a problem but my dad and brother do. They are trying to hook up a new HU and it wont power up i guess. He said that after it not working when wired through the wiring harness, he hooked it up to a battery to see. Still wont power on, but he only hooked up like 3 wires... 12volt accessory, 12volt battery, and illumination. He only had those 3 wires hooked up so he could just test the radio. Do you need to connect all of them to get the radio to go on??
