  1. Went out to my truck and followed the directions verbatim. Set my multimeter to read AC voltage, threw the 50hz tone up on the deck, and checked the voltage at the speaker terminals on my amp. I got nowhere near 30v, only 5.6v to start. Mind you, the gain level was at 3/4 at this point. What am I doing wrong?

Does anybody know what the max load Stinger 0 gauge wire has? I have my h.o.(150a) alternator to batt. wire fused at 300a, and I'm wondering if that fuse rating is too high for the wire and if I need to drop down to a 250a fuse. Is this even something to worry about? I just wanna make sure the wire is fused correctly just in case something happens.

Ok, im pretty sure I have this right but I would like some confirmation to be sure. This is basically what my electrical will be.. the few things that can vary will be battery location, in the picture im going to add at the bottom I put the 2nd battery at the bottom(back).. easy to understand. the vehicle will be a Tahoe which has a 2nd battery tray.. should i use that 2nd tray or just keep it in the back close to the amps? That is one thing i wasnt 100% on, also Ill have a Kinetik HC2000 and a Kinetik HC1800 ... do i want the bigger of the 2 in the back? Also will someone look at my fusing in my picture to make sure that is correct also before i go buy all these damn fus…

  11. This wouldnt be really recommended for those who do not compete so I'll tell you now that this isn't necessary or needed for normal use of an amplifier. But for those who want the most out of their amps on the meter, read on... I am going to be getting into some projects soon for the car audio comp world and start making my own everything... I have several plans laid out for the competition world and for starters, i plan on making some multi insert wire blocks. Basically what it is is this- (for amps that accept 1/0 inserts only at this time) It would be a block of copper that inserts into the amp's power\ground terminal then outputs in a manner that can accept 2 ring ter…

I have a 12'' dc lvl 4 in a box; 2 cf tuned to 30 hz. I have an audiocontrol epicenter which will be replicating fast-paced bass down to the subwoofer level (rock music). Would it be worth it to run the sub at 4 ohms as opposed to 1 ohm? 1 ohm would of course be cheaper, but would I notice much of a difference (considering the bass will be rather fast-paced) if I bought a 4 ohm 1000w amp? what amp would you guys recommend? I know a DC sub isn't the best choice for SQ, but I already have it frontstage is a pair of hertz mlk 165's powered by a ZED kronos alpine 9887 hu.

I'm looking for a 2000 watt amp to run my Sundown Z15's. Since only d2's were left I'll be running a 2 ohm load. I'm looking to spend under $500 and so far the only amp I'm finding to fit what I'm looking for is the Alpine MRP-2000. I've considered spending a little more and getting a 1 ohm stable amp but run it at 2 ohm in case I decide to upgrade, although at this point I really don't intend to since I have other hobbies that I'd rather waste my money on. Any other suggestions/feedback on Alpine amps? I'm not up to speed with Alpine since the only thing I own from Alpine is an early 90's model. Also, any other brands I should be looking into? Thanks for looking.

My H/U only puts out 2v. Figured this could help so I bought one. Im tryna set it to about 5V. Got the cover off and everything. But how do I check what voltage its at? I put a DMM on the outside of the rca plug and it stayd at 0. Put the prongs on the inside and the numbers went crazy! What am I doing wrong? Do I have to have the LD installd and the rca's hookd up before adjusting the voltage?

Also for those of you running the amp behind the rear seat how big is the amp? I have a sundown 1200 v2 and Im starting to wonder if its too big to fit back there. I cut out the rubber to fit the amp in but Im wondering if when I put the seat back in if it wont fit. Id like to know before getting it all done.

I am looking to buy a double din video headunit so that I can have a backup camera. The alpine is my favorite so far but the cheapest I can find it for is $600 which is pushing my budget but I can sell my alpine 9886 and garmin for around $300-350 all together. Just pick which one you would get and why or which one you would stay away from if you have heard something... reason for getting it is i need a HU that supports rear view cameras because my tint I will be getting will make backing up at night hell. Must have functions are rearview camera and ipod full control (hence why i favor the alpine) all other things are extras but not mandatory. Thanks, Patrone

The other day it was working perfect, i unhooked the amp (while batt disconected) and took it out because i was removing my seats+subs w/box and going to shampoo the seats and where the amp is located i didnt want the seat brackets to bang/hit against the amp. Well i cleaned everything and put everything back in and everything LOOKED like it was working fine but.. there was no sound comming from my speakers... so, i recheck all my wires.. once, twice, and a third time.. i unhooked and hooked the wires to the amp again.. no sound. I switched the + & - speaker wires in different inputs of the amp.. no soun…

  24. Hello everyone. Had questions about how to tune my amplifier. I dont want to start slammin the BL and have it go out on me. Let me say first I have done my Big 3. Running 1gauge to rear battery. 4 gauge to amps. I have a good idea on how to set my amp gains. I read the HOW-TO here on the forum. What I need is how to tune this knobs on my JL AUDIO amp that I havent a clue what they are. First would be my infrasonic frequency(hz) knob. It goes from 15 to 60HZ. Also there is a on and off switch for that. Second, there is a Parametric EQ setting marked "Q". This setting can be tuned from 0.5-4.3. I belive its the bandwidth control. Anybody know for sure? What should I set my…

I did not know where to put this but since it concerns using head units, I thought this would be the best fit section. So first of all some background info.... I have a 1999 Volvo S70 (dont hate) and currently I have a alpine cda-9886 headunit. My car is a double-din so i have the headunit in the bottom slot and a pocket in the top slot. I also have 15% tint all the way around, which I know isn't the darkest but its pretty dark at night, especially backing up....however, i was thinking about redoing the tint and getting 5% all around and 50% on the windshield so I know that this will be even harder to see at night. before i was deciding whether or not to go darker but my …
