Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical

I know almost everyone here has auxiliary batteries to push their systems, but how did you wire them up? Did you run an output wire from your alternator to the primary battery, then run another run to your auxiliary(s), or did you run wiring straight from the alternator to both? Anybody using a dual-battery isolator or relay system, or is it just a waste of time and/or expense? GM originally used a parallel wiring scheme for its factory dual-battery system, I'm just wondering if that is the BEST way. I don't want to have any adverse effects on the alternator. I just want to do it right.

Anyone here ever tried to bypass, defeat, or remove the on-board x-over on an amp(class D specifically). My head unit can take care of this function. It would be nice to have up front control.

what wire should i look into? im not really sure how to ask all these questions so lemme know if i get confusing. im pretty sure im running 1/0 gauge wire from my battery to my amp. (my amp is a sundown sae 1200 v2) .....let alone what fuse to run?? now what size and kind of wire to run from my amp to my sub? (sub is a 10" fi bl) ALSO what RCAs to run??? there are SOOO many brands and so many options. (i have an alpine ida x001 headunit if that helps too) i also am not sure how much wire i need for anything yet. just curious what i should look into. i plan on measuring out how much i need tomorrow. i know there are a lot of questions and i prob said something confusin…

I see all these alts out their that are like 180, 200, 220amps But the idle is only 110-125 What the heck, so basiclly if i'm sittin thier at the light my car will still dim

I just swapped my 2 Sundown Audio SAZ-3000d's for 2 3500's but im getting much less volume, 2.5 v drop, subs are heating up fast, excursing lots, and even music mute amps are getting warmer than they should, one particularly more than the other. Im at a loss! please any info will be helpful!

YO, I am getting ready to set up a dual alt in my 2001 chevy astro van but the last few days alone it has been 90+ degrees so i am very indifferent about getting rid of my A/C if anyone knows of anyone that was able to keep A/C and run multiple alts please share. I am willing to get rid of my belt driven fan and go electric as well as add cold air intake to free up space in front of the belt and pulley area if anyone knows a way to Fab up something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, so I was wondering if anyone had any input on this amplifier. I am basically asking if it was worth what I gave for it. I gave a good friend of mine $200 and a SAX-1200 for this amp. It slammed his Z18, and it looks like it's solid. Anyone had any problems or anything with this amp? Thanks

US Amps XT-1600.2 I was looking at that amp on here, and thinking about maybe getting it. It looks good to push my 7515. Or should I consider something else? I'm just begining to start shopping.

I need an amp that puts out 40-80x2 for my mb quart components. My budget is around 100. I've seen some cheap clarion amps on ebay. Do you guys have any suggestions? What do you think about this memphis amp? Would be nice if i can extract 70x2 out of it. But it is refurbed... Any suggestions would help guys. is anyone on here using them? I was looking through their website and found a diagram that shows pretty much exactly what I will be running so I figured I would just copy what they suggest. here's a picture of the diagram can someone fill me in on the pros/cons to running something like that? okay, so where to start.. I have a AQ2200 in my GMC S15 ext cab. The other day it was working perfect, i unhooked the amp (while batt disconected) and took it out because i was removing my seats+subs w/box and going to shampoo the seats and where the amp is located i didnt want the seat brackets to bang/hit against the amp. Well i cleaned everything and put everything back in and everything LOOKED like it was working fine but.. there was no sound comming from my speakers... so, i recheck all my wires.. once, twice, and a third time.. i unhooked and hooked the wires to the amp again.. no sound. I switched the + & - speaker wires in different inputs of the amp.. no soun…

Since im getting back into car audio. How does the new Phoenix Gold amplifiers compare to the older models like the M and ZX series? Reason im asking is it fits my budget plus a local dealer. I was looking at the RSD600.1 or RSD1200.1 to drive a pair of 12" IA Lethal Injection Series.

Just got my friend to pick up a audiopipe 1500 today, heard it is a decent budget amp. Notice it has no fuses, the guy tells me it needs external fuses. I understand what that means, but is there a distance from the amp these need to be? a certain amp rating they need to be? will the main fuse coming off the batt under the hood running to the amp be sufficient? just want to make sure i get this right before helping him install. thanks

Hi Guys, Any recommended Head Unit for SPL application, I'm currently using Alpine 9887 and the buttons fades easily. So I'm leaning towards pioneer for my next H.U. I know DEX-P99RS is the best bet but I can't afford it right now. Any suggestion? My budget is $600. Thanks
