I am getting 15's very soon. Two aq hdc3's off of a 2200d. My electrical now is a 200amp alt, 1/0 big three, and yellow top under the hood. All this is on a diesel engine, that of course runs at lower rpms than a traditional gas engine. I have the smallest pulley I can put on the alternator already installed, and am scared the voltage may not be enough to back this system. Would another battery be needed? If so which one, and for the best price? By the way, this is a daily setup.

Hello everyone, I haven't posted here in a while, but I've been keeping myself current on the threads in the build logs section for sure. Some of you might remember my build log, and might also remember that once I got to the point where I could finally fire the thing up, I was having lots of trouble with noise. I tested and tested, and it turns out that it is my JL Audio 500/5 that's to blame (I installed another amp in its place and the problem was totally fixed). It's a high pitched beeping sound that changes evenly in frequency (up and down). Sometimes it actually sounds like a pack of dolphins from the nature shows... very bizarre. It makes this noise in all chan…

right now my battery is grounded to the front of the drivers side head (which is aluminum) i get a bit of noise every now and again through the front speakers and probably inaudibly through the woofers. the passenger side head is grounded to the chassis, above the motor. its all 4 gauge. i'll get a better ground by grounding the battery directly to the chassis right? then i just leave the head grounded above the engine the way it is? i know it needs to be bare metal, but can i just ground it anywhere thats metal on the body of my car, or does it need to be directly to the frame?

  9. I would like to ask this question as a thought experiment to determine if I am properly understanding the following relationships with wiring and power. Our speakers get AC out of our amps and our amps get DC from our power system. The DC power does not have frequency as it is a single flowing direct current and as such the flow of electrons through any wire have ZERO skin effect as skin effect is only applicable with frequency of transmission. What does play a part in power capacity however is the material of which the wiring is made of and how it is made. The total measured DC resistance of a cable of X size will be lower in copper material than it wi…

I have a JL 500/5 which is 100 rms ch 1 & 2 and 25 rms ch 3 & 4 I am thinking of using it to run my bravox cs60cf active. My biggest question is what should i do about the rear should i amplify the rear speakers (bravox cx60cf) or run them off the deck. The reason I ask is because I also have a JL e4300 4 channel amp. I have heard some people say dont amp the rears and some say you should amp them and i don't know what to do yet any help would be cool.

Am wanting to get another bettery to help upgrade my electrical. Does anyone know if the special application Kinerik HC 2000 is the same as the regular HC 2000 because i can find those for a lot cheaper price than the regular ones? I think i read somewhere that this years regular model has higher amps rating than last years special applications model. How true is this? Thnaks in advance for the response.

well we built a wall, the amp is currently fairly far away form the subs, about 6 feet of speaker wire goes to each sub, we are currently using cheap 14 gauge speaker wire LOL, but we are pulling a 152.7@1800 watts clamped, my guess is we would gain quite a bit by changing out speaker wire, what would you guys recomend? there are 4 dd 1500 series 12" subs hooked up to a planet audio 3000 wired to half ohm in a wall. looking for the best speaker wire that will transfer the power most effectivly for the long 6 ft run. thanks, Anton Miller

With two D1 ohm subs if wired in series for a 4 ohm load with two 1500rms 1ohm mono amps strapped would that give me a final load on the amps of 2ohms being there strapped? If wired in series/parallel for a 1 ohm load with two 1500rms 1ohm mono amps strapped would that give me a final load on the amps of .5ohm strapped? Also out of all the researching I've done regarding strapping, is it true that 2 strapped 1500rms 1ohm mono amps be like a 3k 2ohm amp? I posted this elsewhere also n I believe they answered wrong considering everything I find its double the power/ohm just wanna get another opinion in a better worded post

So I just got two 12" daily Bl's and was wondering what type of amp to run them with. I have a stock electrical system on a 2001 Elantra and do not want to mess around with the electrical so I want to know what type of amp to run them with without having to upgrade. The subs are dual 1 ohm and I will be using a ported box. I also need a new head unit but i only want to spend $100-$250 on that. On the amp i'm open to spending up to $400. Thanks for your opinions/suggestions.
