hi, in my last attempt to rule out installation problem i rewired my whole system again plus i added a ground run and i still having this problem: ok, if i have my eq on my headunit set on flat and turn everything off like loud and my highpass i have to have my gains all the way up to even get 20 volts coming out of it( rated for 100 rms @ 4 ohms) and also if i have my eq set to anything but flat and the gains are not all the way down the amp goes into protection mode at 3/4 volume. and i mean all the way down. like i had one just slightly up and it goes into protection mode and also it does not seem to get as loud as it did before. now i don't have an o scope or know any…

I am adding a second battery and a bigger amp. I need about 25 feet of 1/0 wire. My question is whats the best place to get it from? Also, I see people not liking KnuKonceptz wire. What is up with that? Is it really not worth the $1.75 a foot they want? Is it better to buy from a welding supply company for about $2 a foot? I know these probably sound dumb, but I've only dealt with 4 gauge in the past, which you can get anywhere. Thanx guys

  5. Lately I have been having some problems with my alt for some reason. Two days ago on Friday it was working fine and steadily charging around 14.4 while I was driving. Yesterday out of no where while I was driving (not listening to my system) it just decided to drop down to about 12.9. Today while driving I noticed that when I pressed the gas my voltage would severely go down but then if I let off the gas while in gear my voltage would start to rise. When I put it in neutral it would go back down again. I thought I could get away from getting a new alternator for a while because I am only running about 2500 rms, I have my gains set a little lower because of my electrical…

So I just got two 12" daily Bl's and was wondering what type of amp to run them with. I have a stock electrical system on a 2001 Elantra and do not want to mess around with the electrical so I want to know what type of amp to run them with without having to upgrade. The subs are dual 1 ohm and I will be using a ported box. I also need a new head unit but i only want to spend $100-$250 on that. On the amp i'm open to spending up to $400. Thanks for your opinions/suggestions.

lately my kicker zx1000.1 has been acting wierd, when i first set everything up, it sounded great, then, not so great. before the sub was broken in ( a 12'' fi fully loaded bl in a 2.25 cu ft box tuned at 32 hz), i had the gains set and everything with the dmm. now, at the same voltage, my sub sounds like its distorting badly, and i have to turn the gain all the way down. my hu's setting are set to -2 of all bass enhancement. and im not using the bass knob for the amp either. do fi bl's sound like this when theyre broken in? i know there more of a spl type sub made to get loud, but i have only had 2 other subs so i may just be overreacting. any help guys?

My battery keeps dying and I think I might have a parasitic draw. To simplify the troubleshooting process I would love to buy a DC ammeter that can measure 10mA to 500mA+. According to the M5 owners group 20-30mA at the off and settled position is normal. Since I am buying one it would be a cool tool to measure current going to my speaks as well. Anyone have recommendations on where/what to buy??

Just about an hour ago, I was listening to some beats. I stepped out of the car and popped the trunk to observe the sub itself for a second, I was using the remote (if this matters). I then paused it, got back in my car, turned the volume down, and when I looked back at the HU it was black. I pressed reset, turned the car on/off. Nothing seems to work. I don't think a fuse blew because the motor for the cd changer still works. Any ideas? Kenwood KDC X794

I really have all green lights in my truck and i think having a volt meter on the dash or center console or whatever would be pretty cool. Everyone seems to have stinger volt meters.. They dont come in green that i have seen so i have seen some "slim volt meters" or something like that... Do they work good? And how do you actuly attach them? Any comments will be productive. Btw... Ik its only like 6 bucks but i dont have a credit card so would be a hastle to get it especially if it isnt worth it. Thanks for any commenct

  17. The other day, my subwoofer suddenly cut out and I traced the issue to my subwoofer pre-outs on my Kenwood DDX-319 head unit. Troubleshooting done so far: No AC voltage comes out of the subwoofer pre-outs on the head unit at all Connecting the sub amp's RCAs to the rear pre-out produces sound from the sub (ruling out that it is my amp or subwoofer) There is no resistance (0 ohms) between my pre-out grounds and the case of the head unit (leading me to believe it is not simply a blown fuse in the head unit) Everything else on the head unit functions as intended My head unit is out of warranty by a couple months. I emailed Kenwood about the problem, but …

I've never seen per heard these amps so he enter to know if anyone has any knowledge of about them. I thinly its very sketchy ratings for the price. Anyone have an idea?

Ok, I got my new replacement amp back finally. Amp has a sensitivity switch between .1-2 volts and 2-8 volts. My new headunit has 4 volt preouts. When I try to set the gains using the 2-8 volt setting I max the gain and never reach 40 volts (1600 rms). I get around 12 volts on the dmm. When I switch it to the .1-2 volt setting gain goes about 1/3 of the way up and hits 40 volts. Will I damage the amp if I just leave it at the .1-2 volt switch position? And any idea's on why if I have 4 volt preouts I can't reach 40 volts on the 2-8 volt setting? Right now everything is hooked up but I have the amp off on the headunit. Waited 3 weeks to get the new amp back so I am really …

So me, the gf and the little one are going on a trip next week and I wanna get my DVD working in my truck so the little one can watch DVD's. Now, I wanna bypass the parking system feature on it so the little one can watch a movie or 2 on the highway. I know this is illegal but its only for this trip. We usually use the gf's vehicle but hers in the shop for warranty work. Whats the easiest way to bypass this?
