Hey everyone. Was thinking of picking up a Crescendo Audio BC2000D amp to run 1 15" sub. My question is what kind and how many batteries do you think i would need? I have a 200 amp alt. and have done the big 3. The car this is going into is not a daily driver. Mostly just to car shows. Any help would be great. Thanks

I'm new here so bare with me. I have 2 power acoustic mofo 124x 12 inch 4 ohm dual voicecoils subwoofers running at 1500 watts rms each (3000 watts rms together). They are both wired parrel for 2 ohms each and wired to together at the amp for 1 ohm. I have a skar audio RP-4500.1d mono block amplifier pushing these subs. My question is do I need to upgrade my charging system to 2 high output alternators and 2 batteries along with the big 3? I did the math with the ohms law and just for my audio system alone I need 450 amps. I figured two 300 amp output alternators should be plenty. Am I right or is this overkill? If I'm wrong help me and gave me some advice on what I shoul…

I am looking for specs on efficiency and THD for .5,1,2 ohm applications of the Q13500D.1, basscleff 5500, and sundown sa2 5000. while these manufactures list there 4Ohm and even 2 ohm on some, none of them seem to have any detailed specs on 1ohm loads and as for sundown i cant seem to find ANY specs to speak of on their website so im some what leery there. does anyone know that the exact THD, signal to noise, and efficiency is at 1ohm loads for these amps? thanks.

Well, the used Orion 8004 crapped on me and after trying to pinpoint where the issue was, I decided to scrap it. Noticed the Zapco i-450.4 selling at a local shop for $190USD (on EBay). I know it is a new line, but I'm curious if anyone has used one, or can tell me if the price is decent. Looks to be about what I'm after - 4 channel @75watts RMS, has all the xover bells and whistles which I won't need. Using it for complete active setup. Thanks, Mark

Ok I was just wondering what you guys do. I bought some knukonceptz terminals. Here's the situation. Did you guys cut off the factory terminals? And then just wire those into the new terminals? Or get a battery with multiple posts? Its gonna be in a 08 scion xb so I don't really wanna cut the factory terminals if i dont have to.

Due to my battery hookup location and the fact that it will be nearly impossible to get a 0 gauge wire on it unless I rewire the alternator and main power line toa new battery block, how bad would it be to run 4 gauge wire to a fuse block and 0 gauge afterwards? According to charts 4 gauge should be able to handle up to 300 Amos if it is a short length. So will battery —> fuse (4 gauge 1 ft long) —> distribution block (0 gauge guessing 13 ft long). Will this work ok?

  9. Well, the time has finally come for me to try out an active front stage. This will be my first attempt at this and I don't know much about it. I think what I want to do is run an active capable head unit and a nice 4 channel like the IA 6.4 going to some 8" pa mids and super tweeters. I only plan to run 2 mids and 2 tweets for the front stage. I'm looking for something to keep up with at least two 18s, maybe four 18s by next year. Any suggestions on head units, mids and tweeters are welcome and appreciated. So far, I've been thinking about Ciare PT 382 super tweeters and either the Ciare 8.50NdW 8" mids or the B&C 8 NDL51 8" mids. Please, let me know what you think of…

I have a small Merlin us amp for my mids in my s10 pick up. Whenever I listen to the radio for even less then 5 minutes when my truck is not started it completely drains the battery to the point where it has to be jumped. I had purchased a new battery and still have the same problem, so I had the battery and altenator tested and they are fine. Nothing else drains the battery except listening to the radio for a very short period of time. What could be the problem, any suggestions? Please help

I just picked up a pair of MTX Thunder TA81001D amps, and according to the engineers at MTX there is no way to disable the subsonic filter or bypass the built in EQ in the pre-amp board (which is a crock). The TA92001, TE4001, and TE1501 units all have a button to bypass all of this garbage, but no such button exists on the TA81001. If you take the pre-amp board out, you can clearly see a spot on the board for the bypass switch - Labeled as "S102". MTX refuses to give me a schematic or instructions on what needs to be jumpered, removed, etc. to eliminate the EQ and Subsonic filter pieces. I'm about to tear into it myself, but figured I would ask here first. If anyone has …

Is this normal? I guess its hard to say, but I own a 2004 Impala, stock alternator. My battery finally died after 9 years of use and when I threw the new one in its charging at 15.5volts. Im just hoping a regulator isnt shot or anything stupid. Obviously constant overcharge can cause batteries to prematurely fail. Just checking to make sure everything is normal here.

I recently had an apline head unit installed in a toyota camry. I have a memphis audio amplifier pushing four 6X9's and an JBL amplifier pushing two subwoofers. Everything was working fine in my jeep and then yesterday when it was installed in my camry this happened. The head unit puts out an audio signal to the amplifiers only when using the radio, the cd player and ipod can't be heard through the speakers connected to external amplifiers ( but the cd and ipod can be heard through the speakers that are being pushed through the head unit's internal amplifier).

  20. i plan on running 2 12" fi q or ssa icon subs in a 4cf ported enclosure tuned to 28hz. my car is running a minibattery upfront (to clear upper intercooler pipes), an optima yellowtop (extended battery, not standard), 2 1 farad caps, big 3 upgrade, and a 180amp iraggi alternator. the amp im currently using is a mtx 1501d (1500watts @ 1 ohm). here are my concerns: 1) would it be worth it to upgrade to an amp that is around 2500watts? 2) how many watts can my current electrical system handle? 3) will i be able to run an amp around 2500watts and another one for mids and highs around 200-300watts? 4) what amp would you guys recommend (looking to spend $800 or less)? so far…

Ok, so I decided to go with a Alpine 9887 with the time imprint. my next question is can this deck do a good job if I run my mids active? I have never tried to run an active setup before, and was hoping you guys could point me in a direction as to how it all works. I know you need to run each speaker on a seperate channel of an amp. So, I will have to buy another mid amp. Now would I just use RCA splitter on say the front right to get my mid and highs seperate? Now I also read that you have to run it in full range and control it all of of the deck EQ is that correct?

Sup folks, I have a friend that is trying to figure out a way to make a mini ipod work with his stock cd player. THis is what he is trying to do and figure out. Can you tell me if its possible and if so how do you do it? "I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra SE with the factory head unit (CD/TAPE/CHANGER CONTROLLER DOUBLE DIN) and it doesn't have any inputs on the back other than a 12 pin connector for a cd changer (which I don't have). I'm trying to make an auxillary input out of the cd changer input so I can wire my iPod directly into the reciever for higher quality. In theory this should be possible assuming there is a way to get the reciever to switch over to the cd changer i…
