hi i am new here to this forum and i just had a few questions i had wanted to ask . ok i currently have a 88 deville i am running a alpine 7893 cd player and i have a mtx ta 81001 amplifier running on a powerbass 15xs subwoofer . my questions is do you all think i need to upgrade my alternator and battery i have been looking online to find specs on the alternator and stuff i asked the guy at autozone and he said it was 120 amps is that good enough for the amplifier the battery is a regular one from advance auto. the reason i am asking the lights don't dim really bad till i get to about 26 or so on the cd player. with the bass on zero and no bass boost on the a…

I'm thinking about doing a double din conversion on my 02 Silverado and was looking at the new soundstream/ power acoustik ingenix series double din. Do yall think that it would be a decent head unit without spending too much? Or would it be worth doing the conversion for?

I am planning on buying the hifonics brutus brz1700.1d for around 200 bucks. I will be only using it at 4 ohms for the time being untill i recone my subwoofer to single 2 ohm then ill run it at around 900rms. And if i ever end up going to a comp ill turn it up more. But what other amps should i be considering in that price range and power range? Btw i have stock alt in a 06 tundra and stock battery 4 awg wires... Will this be enough to power this amp? I can probably get 1/0 or 2 awg if i need to but as you can tell im not rolling in money.. Any comments, criticism, jokes... Its all welcome

Looking for budget amplifier to power a 12" SSA DCON subwoofer SVC or DVC 4-ohm (1.2 cu ft sealed to spec). I would like a class d amplifier rated at about ~300w rms clean (give or take, this is a low power budget system). Any ideas?

I just went and bought a Digital Multimeter because I will be getting a stinger voltmeter soon.. plus I just needed one, and well.. I have no idea how to use it!!! I tried my best and got a spark and some awfully hot wire thingys... ouch. First off there are 2 different red plugs and 1 black plug slots at the bottom of the dmm.. I wasn't sure how to know which red one to plug into, and obv. the black went into the only black slot. After that i went over to DCv and scrolled the wheel over to 20.. I assumed you go higher than the voltage you are going to read.. which for cars is around 12v.. Then I stuck my red probe onto my + on my amp and black onto my - on amp.. and.. s…

I currently have a Hifonics BRE1700.1d, I have done the Big 3 to my car which is a 2010 Malibu. My voltage drops crazy fast from 14.6 to 11.6 when certain songs are playing. What I was wondering is if an XS power D1200 would be sufficient enough to use as my battery under the hood? Or should I got for the XS power D2400? I don't want to get a H/O alternator or a second battery for the trunk. Thank you

Well I discovered today that my amp power input is loose and the plastic is melted...I attempted to unplug everything and plug it back up and my amp wouldn't come on..Could it still work or am I doing something wrong??

ok, let's start with the stupid question, are 0 gauge & 1/0 gauge cable the same or are they diff & some people just don't realize it? I see people advertise 0 gauge power cable but the pic has 1/0 clearly stamped on cable. 2nd, I will be using 1/0 with an inline 300a fuse approx 4" from batt. It will go into a non fused dist block to 3 amps.(2g out, & 4g x 2 out) Do I need to to refuse between the block & the amps or does the inline protect all wiring past that point? duhhh, found answer to 3rd question! i just went out and purchased a multimeter so i could set the gains properly on my amp. i unhooked my subs, put on a 50hz test tone and turned my stereo up to 24/35. i put the multimeter plugs into the -/+ terminals to test voltage and all i got was 3 volts. I turned the amp up 3/4 of the way and it only gave me 9. any ideas as to what could be the problem?

Hello, I have a bad noise only when I play with the engine running. I was trying to unhook the sub from the amp, but I start to unscrew it with the sound playing ! my bad Something went wrong, I think the tool touched something wrong and I suddenly heard a bad "electric" noise. Now, when my system play withe engine off : no problem! Engine on : I can hear a sort of alternator noise if I don't crank it up. I can hear the noise of the direction lights in the front speakers! If I take off the rca's': no noise. I checked the grounds: no problem. I tried other rca's : same noise. It seems that the problem is coming from the hu : what do you think about that? Hello, I am wanting to upgrade my OEM alternator before I blow it . I am looking at an Iraggi 200 amp for $399 or 220 amp for $439. I dont mind the extra $40 so I am thinking 220 amp. Mechman is also an option as many people in my area give good reviews. The only downside is they dont make one for my car. If they did I wouldnt be writing this. how much is it underrated bridged, and is this 2 ohm stable bridged?

I am running an audioque 2200 and a second battery it's a vmax charge tank t1000 I know I'll need a fuse under hood for my positive power that will be a 200amp and I have another fuse that's a 300 amp kicker I'll put that one right before my power goes into my second battery and I am havin the big three what size do u think of fuse I should have on my positive from my battery to my alternator or do I need one ?

i finally hooked up my system today, but i need to set up my aq2200d properly. i know how to set the gain with a dmm, but i couldn't turn the gain up high enough to reach the voltage i got.(54.41) Also what should i set the ssf/lpf to. The dial for lpf is only 20-200 or something like that, nothing in between, so were should i set it approxiamately? same with the ssf. My substage consists of a ss Rl-p 18 in 5 cubic foot box tuned to 27 hz. thanks!

Hi all, My question is a daily/Competing question. it has to do with the Street classes in DB drag. in street A they only allow One (1) battery in the stock location. which is fine, for competing and doing the whole burp it and go thing. but with an saz-3000 i feel i will need more than one battery for daily driving and for the other organization im competing in Midwest SPL (no battery restrictions). so my question is what is the best way to do this? safely of course. My initial thought was to have a sort of buss bar for positive and negative (this may get complicated so bear with me). Have a ford F150 truck (1995) , Im in need of getting a new battery i think (the sundown saz1000) makes my headligths dim, big 3 allready done and i have a 95 amp alternator on it. I bought this smaller amp so i wouldnt have to upgrade my electrical . I think my weekest link is my battery .What Battery Brands would you reccomend and also if there are any so called sleeper batteries (Walmart,kragen, autozone) that are a great buy .Not looking to spend 150 bucks on a battery either . Thought the system could handle 2-10" subwoofers and a 200 watt amp to run the mids, tweets . Everythign is wired in 4 guage as well. Lets hear what you all have to say !

So i'm kind of new in car audio and i was wondering if i have a 2 4 ohm HDS212 and i wire them down to 1 ohm would a Q1-750 be enough power or should i go bigger?
