is there a technical way of finding out how much power an amp puts out @ 3 ohm? my boston pro60s are 3 ohm, and i was thinkin about gettin a zx550.2, and thats 205w rms x 2 @ 2 ohm, and i think 175 @ 4, i could take a ball park guess around like 190ish maybe, but is there an actual way to figure that out with math, or do i gotta get the amp, get a DMM, etc etc? So I think I have decided on getting a Q for the new system - either a sealed 15 or a ported 12. I am looking for something to power it now. Really what I wanted to do was a Sundown SAZ-1500D for the sub and a 100.2 for the front stage. However, now were talking around 220 amps to run off my 130 amp alternator. This is just a daily driver so if I can get away with it, I don't really want to get an HO alt. So I am open to suggestions on amps to get? You think I could get away with those two amps without an HO alt? Or should I be realistic and tone it down a bit?

The guy has two for sale a big one and a portable one. 100 for the big one. 50 for the portable. I can't tell which one is which but is this a good deal anyways? I don't know how much I could use this or even how. But I know they're expensive. So my question is should I call him and get it now or just settle for setting my gains with a dmm or just by ear? Here's the link. http://austin.craigslist.org/ele/1560089213.html

I own a pioneer DEH-11E, and because I've got a new sub on the way, I want to set everything up right this time. Basically, right now I have most of the settings maxed out and/or close to it. I heard that I should never use the "loud" setting, as it will be detrimental to SQ, so I'm curious, what does the "loud" setting do? Is it like bass boost, where it only boosts one frequency? Also, on my HU I am able to set BASS, TREBLE, MID, and "SLA." What is this "SLA" and what does it do? When I add to it, it seems to do the same thing as the "loud" setting, but that is just what I hear with these ears of mine: what does it actually do? Finally, I'm going to start running m…

I have a JVC Kw-NX7000 in my 05 Camry. I recently bought a jvc ks bta-200 bluetooth adapter. It works great but now I'm getting interference when I listen to radio, mostly AM. the bluetooth unit is in the glove box and I have the mic mounted on the steering column. What can I do to shield the car's antenna wire from interference?

Ok, I have never owned an amp w/o on-board fuses. I understand that fuses are necessary, but I am a bit confused about just how they are installed and WHY they are necessary. I'll probably purchase an amp kit that comes with an in-line fuse. I understand that this is to protect the battery in the event of...hell idk, I just know it's to keep shit from catching on fire. Now further down the line, the two amps I have have on-board fuses to protect themselves in the event that they should draw more current than they need/can handle. (Not quite sure about that either. I know that fuses usually pop when too much juice passes through them.) Now...I've been avoiding this by limi…

I sold my amp (thanks, ulrisa) so I'm in the market for a new one to power my 10" Dcon. For my budget I've narrowed it down to these two: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/compare_items.php?sort_order=%2Fviewcat.php%3Ff_72%3D14%26manufacturer_id%3D63%26category_id%3D26%26sort_order%3Dbest_match&product_id%5B%5D=23185&product_id%5B%5D=23872&button=Compare Does anyone here have any experience with Soundstream amps? I don't have any experience with their products, except for the SPL 12's about 10 years ago (they belonged to a friend). I obviously don't know much about the technical stuff, so is the $70+ dollar difference between these two worth it (other than the…

Buddy has a 2006 fusion. He put a yellow top in and he said it kept tripping the c/b? Relay says the dealer told him that the battery was too much for his engine electrical. ( I haven't a clue on what Ford does with their junk). Now he has the original battery back and no problems. Any insight? Btw they did say had he had the 6 cylinder he would have been fine.

So I am currently running a Cadence iA7 and couldn't be more pleased with it's performance. I just ran across a deal from friend who is selling a RF Power T1500-1bdCP brand new for $300. I know I will get substantially more power from the Rockford and I think I am going to switch the two out unless someone tells me why they would keep the Cadence over the RF. Give me your thoughts!

I'm about to order a 25ft. roll of 1/0 gauge wire to do the Big 3. I watched the video from Maxxsonics on it too see exactly what I needed to do, and it shows him pointing out 2 separate grounds that were stock on the vehicle before he added any wire. One from the battery to the chassis, and one from the engine block to chassis. When I opened the hood on my Altima I saw that there was only one wire coming off of the negative terminal on the battery, it grounded straight to the engine block. Is this a sufficient ground, or do I still need to find another bolt somewhere on the block to make a new connection to the chassis?

I have a cheap 300w amp that I plan to run to my doors and 6x9's in rear deck. I already have a run of 1/0 to my 1000w mephis amp. I was wondering if it is a good idea to run a short run of about 12-16g wire from the power inputs on the mephis where the 1/0 is, and from there to the power inputs on the 300w to keep from having to put in another run of power cable from battery to the trunk. I tried this already just to power the amp and it worked, but I didn't have any speakers wired to it. Would this be logical, or would it mess something up?

  24. Hi there, So just a quick question from a newbie. I just got off the phone with one of the automotive audio guys at a local FutureShop. I've been wanting to get my old stereo system that I had in my old '98 Cav put into my 'new' '03 Cav for awhile now. Now that I'm on holidays and money is ok, I can afford to give my car up for a few hours and can afford what it will cost me for them to hook up my deck, 5 channel amp and sub. Everything was in working order when I took the system out of my old car, so I'd assume it would be the same when putting it into my '03. The dash kits are apparently the same between the '98 and '03, but the associate was telling me that in 2000 G…
