I'm about to order a 25ft. roll of 1/0 gauge wire to do the Big 3. I watched the video from Maxxsonics on it too see exactly what I needed to do, and it shows him pointing out 2 separate grounds that were stock on the vehicle before he added any wire. One from the battery to the chassis, and one from the engine block to chassis. When I opened the hood on my Altima I saw that there was only one wire coming off of the negative terminal on the battery, it grounded straight to the engine block. Is this a sufficient ground, or do I still need to find another bolt somewhere on the block to make a new connection to the chassis?

At work we have numerous rtas used to test the frequency responses of circuits. This is tested through an osciloscope input. My question is if I were to find a mic that had an osciloscope conenctor at the end of it would the rta work for what I want it to do?

I'm wondering the best thing I can do to help my situation. It's been ridiculously hot here in San Antonio this summer and my SAE-1200D just isn't taking the heat well at all. My Cadence TXA1000D never had a problem but I guess with the extra power this SAE has the heat is causing trouble. The amp gets VERY hot to the touch and after a while goes into protect. At first I thought I had a problem with the subs cause they would make a strange noise before shutting off but it cuts out even when my HU is paused so I don't think I have a subwoofer problem. Maybe mount something like 2 120mm fans on the bottom of the amp? How would I hook those up? Just wire them to the power/gr…

Looks like i may have found a alt for my car finally, talked to Ohio gen and they seem to be able to make a monster little alt for my car 200 at idle 300+ with some throttle. My question is are these guys still building quality products and how is their cs, would love to hear about some experience with Ohio. Thanks.

Earlier this week I had an opportunity to listen to a DD S4 amp. It was pushing a 6.5" component set up-front and one ported 12" in the trunk. Color me impressed, it sounded very good to my ears. I was just curious about other's people's opinions on the DD amps. *Are they reliable? *Are they expensive? *How is their customer service? The 4ch amp is rated at 100x2 and 200x2. Are there any other amps that can perform similarly for lower price? Just trying to weigh out all my options here by using ya'lls keen sense of cost vs. performance. What I really like here is the idea of simplicity. Headunit, amp, a set of comps, and one sub. I'm not looking to compete, but I a…

I have done some searching around and have not found out what I'm looking for, I understand the calculation for volts on a DMM to set the gains properly. In my particular case, I have (2) Fi SSD's (800rms/each) and a Sundown SAE-1200vD2 (1200rms). Now what I have been seeing is everyone says to take the lesser of the two then do your calculations for proper volts on the DMM. So, would I use 1200 from the amp or 800 from (1) sub or 1600 for both subs?? Im guessing since my subs can handle 1600 combined, I would then use the 1200 from the amp, which would be 34.64v (dual 1 ohm subs and wired that way). Please clarify for me. Next question, I have several wiring diagrams for…

Hi there, So just a quick question from a newbie. I just got off the phone with one of the automotive audio guys at a local FutureShop. I've been wanting to get my old stereo system that I had in my old '98 Cav put into my 'new' '03 Cav for awhile now. Now that I'm on holidays and money is ok, I can afford to give my car up for a few hours and can afford what it will cost me for them to hook up my deck, 5 channel amp and sub. Everything was in working order when I took the system out of my old car, so I'd assume it would be the same when putting it into my '03. The dash kits are apparently the same between the '98 and '03, but the associate was telling me that in 2000 G…

Does it matter that much about the audio cables I think they run from the amp to the head unit. At sound advice they have 25$ and they have 100$ ones is there that much of a difference I wouldn't want them to have to re run them.

I have a us acoustics usx2080 that i got from Audio Clinic off of ebay and it is hooked up to my pioneer premiere 720prs speakers and it just doesn't seem much louder than the radio straight to the speaker. My gain is at about 3/4 which seems kinda high to me but thats where the DMM put it. My HU is an Alpine 9885 and i used a 1000hz wave to set my gain to 17.9 volts. Someone told me it may be an install problem but what kind of install problem could cause this? Wouldn't it be either working or not working? Also, how much louder should this amp be than the HU? Thanks for any help or tips!!!

My birthday is coming up and id really like to increase my power to my sub as much as possible with $200. I currently have a power bass 400 rms at 4 ohms. My sub is single 4 ohm. Rated for 500rms. But id like to give it quite a bit more. Whats the biggest amp i can get for 200? I have a fi x12. In a ported box tuned to 33 ish maybe a tad higher. But i dnt play it at high volumes for more than maybe 10-15 mins. So im not too worried about anything blowing. I was thinking about geting a recone and try to recone it to dual 2 ohm.. And run my amp at 1 ohm... But thats kinda reckless because its only stable at 4 ohms. But if i set everything at 1 ohm and tune the amp with a dm…

hi, i am positive that it is my head-unit causing this (it is a alpine 9887) but i am trying to see what else it could be. ok for starters i have my gains set on the my sax100.4 At volume 27 is the max (out of 35 i think) and sometimes when i have the volume at only 15 the drivers mid range will get very notice able louder and i will use the balance and the left speaker is barely playing and the left is acting like it is receiving double the signal. now i have the sax 100.4 running active and i am only using the high on the 9887 to feed the sax100.4 channels 1 &2 and then using the output to feed 3 &4. So if it was the amp couldn't one side play fine and t…

Hey, i have two autotek mm amps. Both of them have "balanced line inputs." The plug in for this looks similar to a s-video plug. In my manuals it says that the balanced inputs accept line level balanced from 0.4v to 18 volts. Also that the XX-BLD can be used as a line driver. I cannot find the "XX-BLD." And also every line driver that i view only has rca outputs and not the plug that is similar to the s-video plug. I've never used a line driver before but i'd like to. And i have an Alpine 9855 2004 model with 4V pre-outs. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Well yesterday my dad was helping me run some wires in my car and decided to shake the hell out of my amp. When he did it ripped out all of my speaker wire connections and everything. So i reconnected everything and checked my connections everywhere but the amp is still not working. My dad is thinking its my RCA splitters. What i was wondering is there a way to test my RCA's with a DMM? Also would a violent shake make the amp quit working? It powers on theres just no output. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
