I've been having a small problem with my in-line fuse. at first I had a 80 amp tube fuse in a fuse holder, under the hood. One day my subwoofer stopped working, so I pulled over to see what was wrong. My fuse holder was melted with the fuse inside. So I bought a new fuse holder and put a 40 amp tube fuse in it. Then 2 days later after playing my system loud for 10-15 min. I blew another fuse. I never had this problem before. I have noticed that at times the inside of the fuse will be glowing hot. Is this normal for a fuse to glow? Anyway if anyone can tell me what can be going wrong here, let me know. I have a soundstream Tarantula TR880/2, with 4GA wire hooked up. Ibelei…

  4. I've noticed, the bass tones usually used to set the gains are 0db, but in most rap songs, bass lines are around -7db to -8db... Some are even lower, especially for other genres. I recently used -8db tones on my friend's setup, and it got MUCH louder, this was about 4 weeks ago, and everything is still running fine, subwoofer never even gets warm to the touch. Shouldn't you use -7 to -8db tones for setting RMS power instead of using 0db tones? Because if you think about it, -7 to -8 is the RMS, and 0db would be the "peak" or "max" or whatever you wanna call it (not that it matters). For those wondering, this is the system I set the gains on: Amplifier - Sundown SAZ-1000D …

I been looking around for head units and I haven't found the "perfect" one. I currently have an Alpine 9883 and I wouldn't really buy it again. I use my Ipod and I dont like the way to select music on the head unit. I was on the Sony Xplod site and this head unit looked pretty cool. MEX-BT5100. Has anyone had experience or worked with Sony head units? Or if anyone has a better choice let me know.

Well this is what happened. I have had this amp for about a year and its worked fine but i thought i would be different and i changed the shift phase knob on it from the end it was on to the other end b/c i thought it would allow for the subsonic filter to shut off for lower resonance but i was wrong. I believe it ended up blowing 2 cubes in my amp and now i need to get i repaired but i dont know where or how and even if i can repair it. It was a great amp and id like to keep it. Is there anyone out there that can help or might even know what i did really to make it blow? Help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

from my readings it was mentioned that remote turn on leads should be fused at .5A on all installs. is this standard practice today or was this directed at older decks? i have just never seen or heard of this until i read it. when using a LOC converter (factory head unit to power amps) i read it should be installed behind the deck. is there any reason against installing it off rear speakers in the trunk or else where in the car? assuming what ever speaker outputs you are going to are the right type e.g. not crossed over from the factory deck at an incorrect frequency for your application. edit: question about gains. when setting amp gains i was told that i should max ou…

So what would happen if I crossed the power and ground on the amp? Yes, I did this accidentally, for less than 5 minutes ! The amp does have a reverse polarity protect on it, but what damage, if any, have I done? Is it completely fried? I went ahead and put the wires back in correctly, and I still got no sound to my fronts. Thanks for your replies

is there a technical way of finding out how much power an amp puts out @ 3 ohm? my boston pro60s are 3 ohm, and i was thinkin about gettin a zx550.2, and thats 205w rms x 2 @ 2 ohm, and i think 175 @ 4, i could take a ball park guess around like 190ish maybe, but is there an actual way to figure that out with math, or do i gotta get the amp, get a DMM, etc etc? The one I was looking at (9856) doesnt have a remote and well, thats pretty much it. Also, the display kind of sucked. I have been saying ill get new speakers, amp sub, kick panels, etc when I actually own the car. But im only doing the HU once. And it has to be done right. http://cartoys.com/default.cfm/t/Car_Audio...reo/o/InDash_CD Thats the list I have to choose from. What is a good one? I was thinking Alpines, but I dont know, it looks like there are some other good ones. I will NOT be amping any speakers yet. So for the first few months ill be using the power straight frm the HU. That means it has to have good power. Has to have a remote, and have 'loudness' for a su…

So I plan on getting a battery for in the back soon and I was curious as to if it will hurt my battery in the front by getting an AGM for in the back. Also do I have to go with something that is in the range of power my amps are taking or can I go with something along the lines of a XS Power D545? Roughly with both amps I'll be in the range of over 1800-2200watts rated.

Hey I was wondering what good cheaper amps (around 300) would run two SSD 10s with copper coils. I have two in the mail right. Do I need to give each 800 watts to be decently loud? Also wondering if will likely need to do any changes to my electrical system. I've tried to see what amperage my alternator puts out but cant find info, so if you know what an '06 Rav4 without tow package does that would help a lot. Otherwise I think I'm gonna call the dealer. Thanks for any help!

So, I bought 2 hawker 2v cells to run a 16v tap. I thought i had a problem with that setup and found out it was ok. Someone said it was a bad idea and said i should purchase a 3 post kinetik hc16v(brand new). Thought to myself that id be on the safe side if i went ahead and did it. Called kinetik personally and talk to Jon( I believe) and made sure everything was properly installed and according to my Blue Point Dmm everything was like he said. Well, let me tell u what..... The hc16v setup with the EA alt on 19.1v to the 16v side and with a digital meter with about 3 weeks of driving, the battery dies completely. Got pissed and ran my 2 2v cells now for more mile…
