So lets say I have the potential to draw 700amps with my system, If I have 1 battery under the hood and 3 more in the trunk, a run of 3/0AWG wire front to back, how do I fuse it? Last time I checked the largest ANL fuse was 300AMP How do you guys with monster systems do it? other than multiple runs of power wire.

I've tried searching around the forums for this but its a bit hard due to the size of all the words associated. So I plan on doing the BIG 3 in the next few days and I have my 0 Gauge wires, terminals, and fuse holder only thing left for me to do is get the fuse. On 02 Laredos the stock alternator has an output of 136 Amps, On other forums people recommended a 300 AMP Fuse but wouldn't this render the fuse useless as being such a high overall amp compared to the alt it wouldn't do its job and blow? But at the same time I'm questioning if I should even get a fuse as you can see in the picture below my battery and alternator are nearly touching. In short, What size fuse if a…

I just went and bought a Digital Multimeter because I will be getting a stinger voltmeter soon.. plus I just needed one, and well.. I have no idea how to use it!!! I tried my best and got a spark and some awfully hot wire thingys... ouch. First off there are 2 different red plugs and 1 black plug slots at the bottom of the dmm.. I wasn't sure how to know which red one to plug into, and obv. the black went into the only black slot. After that i went over to DCv and scrolled the wheel over to 20.. I assumed you go higher than the voltage you are going to read.. which for cars is around 12v.. Then I stuck my red probe onto my + on my amp and black onto my - on amp.. and.. s…

ok i just got a new 9855 with 4 volt preouts and a used merlin m41 from flakko, and i go the 9855 to work, but when i hook up the amplifier, nothing, not even the power or protect light came on, but then today outta nowhere when i turn on the car, i hear this semi loud click noise, and the amp turned on and i could listen to music, but wasn't very loud, even at 20 volume. it then proceeded to shut off again, and now has no music coming from the speakers, and the amp's lights (power/protect) are off as well. i had this same problem with the last amp i had, before. and im sure when i put that one in it will have the same problem. anyone have any ideas? and i have speaker…

Well yesterday my dad was helping me run some wires in my car and decided to shake the hell out of my amp. When he did it ripped out all of my speaker wire connections and everything. So i reconnected everything and checked my connections everywhere but the amp is still not working. My dad is thinking its my RCA splitters. What i was wondering is there a way to test my RCA's with a DMM? Also would a violent shake make the amp quit working? It powers on theres just no output. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  7. hi, i am positive that it is my head-unit causing this (it is a alpine 9887) but i am trying to see what else it could be. ok for starters i have my gains set on the my sax100.4 At volume 27 is the max (out of 35 i think) and sometimes when i have the volume at only 15 the drivers mid range will get very notice able louder and i will use the balance and the left speaker is barely playing and the left is acting like it is receiving double the signal. now i have the sax 100.4 running active and i am only using the high on the 9887 to feed the sax100.4 channels 1 &2 and then using the output to feed 3 &4. So if it was the amp couldn't one side play fine and t…

Well I really like my current head unit which is a Pioneer 880PRS but I kinda would like to add navigation and DVD capabilities. So I started to think on how I could do it suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to keep the 880 as the primary unit and the nav as the secondary. My current idea is to add a Avic n3 and hook up the audio through an auxiliary adapter something like this http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/p...0_35681,00.html Help is appreciated.

  17. So, been out of Car Audio for a bit, been wanting to put another small system in, every time something seems to come up.. So I'm trying again... Vehicle: 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer So far I have the following... Pioneer Head unit, Polk Separates in all 4 doors. Parts I have acquired: Sundown 2000D (these Sundowns are are few years old But BNIB) (Needs 200 Amp Ext Fuse) Sundown 125.4 (fuse 30x2) 15" FI BTL (Same with the FI Sub, BNIB) I would like to figure out what all exactly I need to do get and do so the two Amps have plenty of power. No Blinking lights, or any power problems... I was thinking, Update front Batt (not sure what) Mechman Alt (not su…

so yea before i start buying and end up with tons of stuff that i can't use, i want your all's opinions. The setup i'm going to have is... avalanche sub (dvc both coils ran to terminals on box) orion 1200d amp running @ 1 ohm, but want capable of running at 1/2 (in case i get another ava) so i'm guessing 1/0 power wire instead of my 4ga Pioneer 35w X 2 @4ohm (has scoshe kit running to it now, looks like 10g power wire)...going to run it to my tweets eventually cadence z1200c (best info i can find says 250W X 2 @ 4ohm) going to run comps off this eventually) soo, here's my ideas so far, i'm wanting to go with knukonceptz unless someone knows a better brand that is less e…

Looked around for a bit and decided to go with this dual rectifier alt from alternatorparts.com . I ran it via specs of their website ( BTW i got the Quicktifier210 with a 220 amp denso alt). Guy told me it would do full output at 1200rpm( 120 i think at Idle). I upgraded the big three and ran it all with 1/0 Knu Koncept Kolossus wire. I am not running much, Double din JVC HU and a lightning audio 600.2 on a single W0 10. Gain is set to half. Optima Red top batt. My ordeal is, that the moment I put it in gear everything dims. And, if i have a few things on ( IE. air, turn sigs, headlights) things seem to get a bit worse. I took the gauge cluster out and cleaned everythi…

Ok, right now my system is still kinda up in the air, but I know I will either be running a sundown 3k or a RF 4k amp and a little amp or two for mids/highs. The vehicle is the 4.3L V8 F150 (2008). I am pretty sure the stock alt puts out 110 amps. I know I need a couple good batteries for under the hood and in the back. BUT, about what size alt should I look for roughly and what brand. I have a local stinger dealer that sells a 220 amp alt for 700, but not to sure how good that is or not. any input would be great.

No sound is being projecting through the speakers. I put in my stock headunit and it works fine. Anyone know what the issue is? I matched up all the connections. I called JVC and someone told me to connect all the reds and yellows and connect them together............can someone help? I need this done today! Thanks

  23. okay so i have done a search on this all over, and i did find one post about someone who only used the front channels and then connects the rear channels directly, but kept the fader set to the front, but this just sounds like a bad idea what i want to do is amp my front speakers (alpine type r components), but leave my rear speakers on the head unit's power (alpine sps-400's) i just bought a rockford fosgate t400-2 off a friend on the cheap so i was planning to use that (type r's with only 17 watts have absolutely zero bass) head unit is sony-gt240 ( i know sony isn't that great, but the sound quality is just as good to me as it is on some friends alpines and pioneer h…

I did a bit of searching, and it seems that a few people are against the KLM Copper Clad Aluminum cable. I plan on getting the 1/0 KLM cable for my Sundown 1500D for a 15ft run. KnuKonceptz claims that their 1/0 CCA will do fine as long as you're not running gobs of wattage. Anyone think otherwise? Thanks, Trevor
