so yea before i start buying and end up with tons of stuff that i can't use, i want your all's opinions. The setup i'm going to have is... avalanche sub (dvc both coils ran to terminals on box) orion 1200d amp running @ 1 ohm, but want capable of running at 1/2 (in case i get another ava) so i'm guessing 1/0 power wire instead of my 4ga Pioneer 35w X 2 @4ohm (has scoshe kit running to it now, looks like 10g power wire)...going to run it to my tweets eventually cadence z1200c (best info i can find says 250W X 2 @ 4ohm) going to run comps off this eventually) soo, here's my ideas so far, i'm wanting to go with knukonceptz unless someone knows a better brand that is less e…

Hi there. I'm trying to figure out the safest, most cost-effective way to wire two amps, particularly, the remote-turn-on wires. I have seen a lot of stuff saying just wire both wires to the H-U remote turn on, while others say it can burn out the H-U. I'll be using 2 300w RMS amps if it makes any difference...

i recently was helping a friend install an aftermarket headunit in an 02 grand am and the new unit wont turn on. so i put the factory unit back and it didnt turn on. what has happened here? i normally install headunits on older cars and i never ran into this problem. any ideas on how to fix? i believe its the security but i dont know how to fix the problem

Hey yall i have a 1997 f150 with everything stock. i plan on eventually upgradeing the whole audio system. I am hopeing to get the 4 channel sundown audio amp(i dont no the exact name of it, to lazy to look it up). I also plan on buying either a 10" SSa or the Ssd subwoofer and powering it with a sundown 1000d. I have a budget of about 1200 dollars and i really dont want to up grade my alt. My question is do you all think that the 95 Amp Alt be enough to power the system with little to no light dim? Thanks in advance.

So I sent in my alternator for repair and the message he sent me was, The rectifier was overheated and the rotor was open (this alternator design is very compact) I have everything broken down for a full rebuild other then the stator now. The stator is in perfect shape still and was never overworked. Just waiting on the parts to install them. So I don't know much on the process it takes to rebuild my alternator sui could someone she some light on this message he sent me.

Well, I have to ask for help this time. I have a high pitched whine coming through my speakers, even without the car running, so it's not engine noise, but this one is strange. While troubleshooting, I grounded both the radio chassis, RCA shields (Pioneer FTL), regular ground, redone every ground in the car, ran new RCA's, etc etc. So I gave up last night, and decided to sleep on it. This morning, went back out to combat the problem, just turned the key to ACC, fired it up, and it was gone. Went to start the car, and it came back. So I did a little more troubleshooting, and went back in and figured out that with the key in ACC, there is no noise, but as soon as I tur…

I have bought 4 2608d's for my setup and I have several threads where people have said you can get better amps. The thing is you can always get better amps becuase some company will always make something better. I have been installing for 20 years and have seen almost everything from the begining and have fallen in love with many amps only to be let down by the company becuase they stop making something, it's the nature of the biz! anyway I will post actual test results of my setup and prove or disprove all theory's

I have a 93 civic with a 70 amp alternator. Right now the alternator is producing too much voltage( up to 20 volts) I suspect that my 900 watts rms stereo system(mtx tc 4001 front chan. @ 4 ohms rear chan. @ 2 ohms, mtx mxa6001 A 2ohms) is to blame. So I decided to get a HO alternator, but the closest guy that does it is in brampton a few hours drive. After doing some homework I found out that added a second isolated battery may provide better protection. Does anybody have any advice, pros or cons and what would you do? HO aternator, Second battery or both? I have already upgraded my battery and wireing for those who will ask.

I got a buddy that just bought a JVC KD-DV7300 H/U. This model does not come with a built in monitor. He is wanting to connect the unit so that the DVD monitor is capable of running all the time. He has a 13" external screen that he has previously used. The unit has a light green wire that is supposed to be connected to the brake line. Is there a way to over ride this? Thanks.

hey everybody, a buddy of mine is looking for a decent/good quality amp to use for his daily driver. Hes running 2 Kicker CVX 15s, looking for around 4000wrms. He found a Powerbass that can do 4000wrms @ 1 ohm... just looking for some general feedback on these amps performance wise...do they put out what they say they do? Are they reliable amps? etc etc Thanks!

Can anyone compare em to the 8053? I have the option of buying the 8053 right now but i need to make sure it has a RCA input for my Omnifi. Plus wanna make sure whether there is much of a difference between this unit and the new one. Plus the new one matches with my dash better.

i have a Kicker KQ5 i picked up for 50 bux. i had it posted for sale, 2 people are interested, but i think i wanna keep it now becuase its black, and lights up green or amber, and amber lights match my interior perfect. i was gonna get the clarion 7 band one i think it was for like 80 new, but it only lights up blue which would be the only blue, and stand out horribly. my amps im getting (MTX) will even light up amber to match! (my nakamichi cd-400 does too) any other EQ's that have amber lighting?

So I think I have decided on getting a Q for the new system - either a sealed 15 or a ported 12. I am looking for something to power it now. Really what I wanted to do was a Sundown SAZ-1500D for the sub and a 100.2 for the front stage. However, now were talking around 220 amps to run off my 130 amp alternator. This is just a daily driver so if I can get away with it, I don't really want to get an HO alt. So I am open to suggestions on amps to get? You think I could get away with those two amps without an HO alt? Or should I be realistic and tone it down a bit?

What are some good 16v batts I can get to run my soundstream xxx10000 off of(10,000w rms @ 1 ohm, wanna get the most I can outta this amp...and that rating is at 16v...)? I know a guy selling 4 turbostart s16va's for 400 shipped, and he said he installed them but never used them, so they're basically like new. What other brands are out there? Interstate? Powermaster? Kinetic? Should I get a bunch of 8v's and wire them to make 16v? Also if I do buy those 4 turbostarts, will that be enough for my amp, or will I need more? Recently my sub hasn't been giving me the same output as usual. I figured it was because of the cold but the output never really changed once it warmed up. So idk whats wrong but basically its at half the volume it used to be. I thought maybe I messed something up on the sub itself but the voice coil wasn't burnt, and there there was no mechanical noise. Basically everything looked fine. I checked the rcas and they were fine, so was all the other wiring. I redid everything on the amp just in case. The wiring on the sub was fine because I haven't touched it in months. Soon I will be getting a 12" AudioQue HDC3 (Copper Coils) and was wanting to finally upgrade my Front Stage Mids & Highs. This is the first time I dealt with Component Systems and 2-Channel Amps so some of these questions might sound stupid. I am considering RE Audio 6.5 Components or Rockford Fosgate T162s and they both are 4 Ohm. Does this mean that after you connect mid & highs to crossover then crossover to amp, then will the final impedance to the amp be 4 ohms? Or is there a way to wire component systems in parallel to get a 2 ohm load? One more question. Is each channel kinda like a different amp? For example, If I have a 4 Channel amp can I have 2 channe…

I'm looking to purchase 18 batteries for a build. Kinetik offered me an awesome deal that's hard to pass up. My problem is that I have heard bad things about these batteries. Do you guys think if I properly maintain them I would get better results from them vs the guys that had issues?
