I'm running two atomic 5000.1's with 5 C&D Batteries (93ah maxrate ones) with 0awg all over and a 280a XS Power alternator. Now I can say straight off my power supply isnt adequate for all day booming but for short bursts (15 odd mins) its fine. Add to that I'm in the UK and our cars are tiny compared to your guys in the states so space is always an issue. Now my question is my batteries rest at 12.4-6 which seems very low to me ? I have a Ctek 25000 and was wondering should I give the recondition mode a try ? Any one got any general advice as hardly anyone runs these batteries in the UK.

I sold my amp (thanks, ulrisa) so I'm in the market for a new one to power my 10" Dcon. For my budget I've narrowed it down to these two: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/compare_items.php?sort_order=%2Fviewcat.php%3Ff_72%3D14%26manufacturer_id%3D63%26category_id%3D26%26sort_order%3Dbest_match&product_id%5B%5D=23185&product_id%5B%5D=23872&button=Compare Does anyone here have any experience with Soundstream amps? I don't have any experience with their products, except for the SPL 12's about 10 years ago (they belonged to a friend). I obviously don't know much about the technical stuff, so is the $70+ dollar difference between these two worth it (other than the…

I have a guy that has a brand new in box Power Acoustik A1800DB amp, and he's wanting to trade it for my used Memphis 16-ST1000D. A 1800 watt for a 1000 watt.. I know PA isn't as quality of a brand as Memphis.. but it seems like a good amp. Any suggestions of whether or not I should follow through?

h, i am thinking of running a 980bt for my headunit and i want to use it to do an active set up and i was reading the manuel and i think i understand how to do it but i want to make sure. this is how i think it is: i need to have channels 1 and 2 used for the tweeter with a highpass set to whereever then use channel 3 and 4 for the midrange with a lowpass set just below the highpass. and i want to use 2 sets of speakers so i can just run an rca from the amp to the other amp. and sorry but this is my first time doing active and i want to make sure. also on the amp. Sax100.2 would i set x over on it to full? or is there a way to bypass it.

I am getting ready to place an order from Knu for my wiring. I just want to make sure I get what I need the first time and it's the right stuff. First of all...do I need one or two runs of 1/0g power wire for my two amps? The mono block will likely be an AQ1200d at 2 ohm (870w RMS) and the other amp for my mids/highs will be no more then 150w x 2 @ 4ohms. So if a single run is sufficient, once I get the wire to the amps and I go to split...what size wire should go to the AQ amp? I am just wondering because I didn't see a dist. block on Knu's site that allows for a 1/0g wire to be split into 2 or more 1/0g wires for multiple amps to be ran with that size wire. I figure 4g …

So I'm not new to car audio, but I'm new to the fine tuning. Years ago, I'd wire a sub to an amp and be done with it. Now, I've found that it's a little more technical than that. Here's my issue: I'm doing the 'gain setting,' and I'm not sure how to calculate the target voltage. I read somewhere that when you run a dual 4ohm sub, you have the double the target voltage, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. The target voltage of my current sub amp is 43.8@ 4ohms, 42@3ohms and 40@2ohms. I'm running an old JL 12W3v2, dual 4ohm sub. I have it wired in parallel, so I can bring it down to 2ohms. Does that mean that my target voltage is now 80? My brain is going to start spill…

Ok, right now my system is still kinda up in the air, but I know I will either be running a sundown 3k or a RF 4k amp and a little amp or two for mids/highs. The vehicle is the 4.3L V8 F150 (2008). I am pretty sure the stock alt puts out 110 amps. I know I need a couple good batteries for under the hood and in the back. BUT, about what size alt should I look for roughly and what brand. I have a local stinger dealer that sells a 220 amp alt for 700, but not to sure how good that is or not. any input would be great.

What are some good 16v batts I can get to run my soundstream xxx10000 off of(10,000w rms @ 1 ohm, wanna get the most I can outta this amp...and that rating is at 16v...)? I know a guy selling 4 turbostart s16va's for 400 shipped, and he said he installed them but never used them, so they're basically like new. What other brands are out there? Interstate? Powermaster? Kinetic? Should I get a bunch of 8v's and wire them to make 16v? Also if I do buy those 4 turbostarts, will that be enough for my amp, or will I need more? This will be for daily use and I'm gonna run a seperate alt to charge them, I don't want the little regulator thing to switch from 12 to 16... Thanks in …

i was gonna put this in the for sale/wanted section but i didnt know how well that would go over with mods. so im looking to upgrade to a good headunit. i just traded the pioneer i had it wasnt anything special just plain jane with sub outputs. im wanting one with a motorized face and graphics. i dont really care if it has usb or aux in as i dont ever use them. i used to have a deh-p680mp that i absolutely loved. im not really interested in the newest "look" unless its the style with the bigger volume knob like a 6000ub. im also open to a possible kenwood or jvc arsenal if it looks good and the price is right so if anyone has any head units collecting dust let me know…

I'm ready to tackle the electrical system of my 2011 Malibu. Under the hood battery is a weird group 75 battery. I'm either going to try and modify for a slightly larger battery or just spend the ~$200 die hard platinum that will fit as is. Thing is I'm trying to do this on a slight budget and its gonna be cheaper to use different brand batteries. Just going to put 1 in the trunk. I plan to only use sealed AGM style batts just possibly different brands and sizes.. Any trouble I can avoid here?

Looked around for a bit and decided to go with this dual rectifier alt from alternatorparts.com . I ran it via specs of their website ( BTW i got the Quicktifier210 with a 220 amp denso alt). Guy told me it would do full output at 1200rpm( 120 i think at Idle). I upgraded the big three and ran it all with 1/0 Knu Koncept Kolossus wire. I am not running much, Double din JVC HU and a lightning audio 600.2 on a single W0 10. Gain is set to half. Optima Red top batt. My ordeal is, that the moment I put it in gear everything dims. And, if i have a few things on ( IE. air, turn sigs, headlights) things seem to get a bit worse. I took the gauge cluster out and cleaned everythi…

Hey all, I have a question about routing power in the car for mobile video... I have 6 items that need to be powered on the roof: 3 15" flip-down monitors, 2 sun visor monitors, and a video signal booster. Each piece of equipment has #18 gauge power/ground leads and they are fused with very thin glass fuses, so I'm assuming they draw very little amperage (none of the equipment lists actual numbers and Google searches proved useless) so I'm assuming total load I'm looking at under 15 amps or so. I have some spare 9ga wire I could run from the battery up to the headliner for power (it might be overkill but the next smallest wire I have is 18ga and I'm trying to work with w…

so i fried something in the amp, i think they are called the output transistors. i have pics if any one is intersted i can send a pm. here's the story: so tonight, i am finally exited to get my subs into the car and start wangin. let me tell you what happened before tonight though. about a week or so ago, i already had my box completed (not finished though) me and my bro went out to test it with the nine.1. we tried it facing up first and it was working fine, then we decided to test it facing the rear and it still no problems. then I wanted to try facing up one more time. this time, I heard something pop as soon as I turned it on and then all four 30 amps blew. one more t…

First of all I want to apologize for another which amp type question...there are a lot of them here but don't have the info I need. I'm going to be running 2 Ascendant Audio Avalance 12" subs (dual 2ohm - 800watts RMS each) and am wondering if a Sundown 2000d will be enough for them? I used to run these way back when they first came out with a US AMPS USA-2000 (2k x1 @ 2 ohms) and was happy with the setup but the class A/B of the amp was a huge strain on my already beefed up electrical system. Also, if there is another quality amp out there that you would recommend other than the Sundown let me know. I've been out of the game for a long time! Thanks!
