Well I been wanting to upgrade and been looking into a lot of stuff and pretty much came down to a whole new system lol. But I been thinking and I have this nice 9887 HU installed with HSK165 up front and currently using the passive crossovers. I figured why not try running them active? huh why not so I been looking up info on a active system and now looks like I need a new amp in order to do this. So I've been digging around for an amp and not sure what I should go with, Ive been looking at a Alpine PDX-F4, DD C5C, SD SAX-125.4 or 100.4 (used), IA 6.4 and even a Zed Draconia-II and the problem is a can't really make up my mind cause I'm looking for 100-125w x 4ch amp for…

I've been looking around for a good 4 channel amplifier that cost some where around 350 or less that has a small foot print I was hoping to hide it. I have looked at the rockford fosgate pbr 300.4 was wondering if anyone had any experience with these? Or if anyone has had any other amps that are on the smaller side I would like to hear some other options as well. Also I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find some info on the little soundigital 250.2 I tried emailing them and messaging a soundigital rep on the smd website and got no replies. Was thinking of maybe getting 2 of those for running a set of comps. could definitely hide those somewhere.

Hey guys, I have a good friend who is putting a tablet in place of his head unit. That will leave me with an opening of about 12"x12"x4" to place an amp for him. Does anyone know of or can recommind a 50x4 class ab amp that will fit in those dimensions without getting overly hot? I dont even know what to look for as most amps are bigger than that.... I have heard of mini amps but not sure of sound quality? His budget is less than 150 bucks so PLEASE help lol Thanks in advance!

im going with a 200 amp alternator from excessive amperage in the ca group buy. its going in an 87 trans am daily driver with a kenwood 35x4 and an eD nine.1, going to do the big 3, have an optima yellow top 31, and run 0/1 gauge wire back to a distributor and 4 gauge to the amps. for daily driving, im wanting a small case not a large one right? large is more for spl vehicles that sit and idle as they burp correct? my car idles around 750-800 right now because i have a minor vacuum leak but once i track it down and fix it should be more like 600-650 idle.

I'm considering going with a stealth install in my new car so I'm researching quality amps that have a small footprint. My previous amps have been eD and I'm currently using a DLS A5. I will be limited to about 11X11 for the new amps and need something to push 1-3 subs (potentially as low as 1ohm total) and a set of components up front. I've seen the Alpine PDX amps and they fit the bill as far as size and power but I'm not sure how I feel about the Alpine gear. I've always considered them kind of mass market average quality stuff. And I also don't know about running Class D for my front stage. The Zed Audio Mililith and Gladius are just a little too big otherwise t…

So I made this thread here And so far it seems that either I get some kind of amp or not bother with stock speaker replacement. I was thinking of getting smallest amp possible to power the speaker replacements and hide it in dash, taking power and ground from factory harness would be even better, but finding such an amp, that's challenge. How about Alpine KTP-445 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22630_Alpine-KTP-445.html Would I be able to just cut the wires and connect speaker wires to my speaker wires and ground and power to the ones in Toyota harness ? I woas thinking of these speakers for replacement... Fronts http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8696-sc95-boston-acoustic…

I have 2 alpine type r 12 DVC 4ohm subs In ported black box tornado series. My Kenwood head unit has a 2.5 volt Preout. I have had my gain on my alpine mrx m240 half way up with no bass boost and crossover set at 85 on the amp wired at 4 ohm putting out 1500 watt into 2 alpine type r. I got the smd distortion detector a few days ago to see if I was clipping . I live in the middle of no where and the local audio shop has no clue what they are doing so I installed everything and set gains myself. I used the smd dd1 and it at my max volume on the headunit which is 35 it shows my amp starts clipping at slightly above 1/4 on the gain . I rarely get my volume past 26 on the hea…

So I cracked open some Knukonceptz Krystal 4channel RCA cables that I just took out of my car(replaced with my own I made ). and as I suspected, quadruple shielding my ass! None of the shields are grounded, I looked on both ends all look the same 2 wire conductor per rca. I cut that black heat wrap off on all of them. 1 side: other side: close up: they all look the same as this just different color conductor wires. here is another shot of the Knu where the pants meets actual cable insulator Looking for shielded RCAs? dont buy those...

ok so im going to be using the Fi BTL 12" sub D2 in a 2.5 cu ft box ported to 34 hz. in the trunk of a chevy cavalier. i want to run in DB Drag so the power needs to be there when the car is off. so it will be at around 12-12.5 volts. the battery will be a Kinetic HC 2000 so my decision comes down to this. a brand new AQ3500 for 550$ or a refurbished SAZ-3000 with new heat sink and B-stock (not sure what that is) for 575$. i would like to know the pro and cons of each one. i know one uses a fan for cooling and one doesnt. is there an advantage to this? which one is more efficient at 1 ohm? which one will output more power at 12 volts? or any more things i should now a…

I've noticed, the bass tones usually used to set the gains are 0db, but in most rap songs, bass lines are around -7db to -8db... Some are even lower, especially for other genres. I recently used -8db tones on my friend's setup, and it got MUCH louder, this was about 4 weeks ago, and everything is still running fine, subwoofer never even gets warm to the touch. Shouldn't you use -7 to -8db tones for setting RMS power instead of using 0db tones? Because if you think about it, -7 to -8 is the RMS, and 0db would be the "peak" or "max" or whatever you wanna call it (not that it matters). For those wondering, this is the system I set the gains on: Amplifier - Sundown SAZ-1000D …

I currently have a Eclipse cd8445 and I do love it. The problem is that when I had previous setup in the track selection button would "oscillate" during long periods of bass causing it to skip or change tracks at times. I figure that this setup will be significantly louder than the last one so I'm looking around for something different. I'd like something that has mainly the same features as my 8445. But also has a very broad subwoofer control range (ex. My 8445 went from -6 to 6. I'm looking for something slightly larger). I did kinda like the fact that the 8445 has an 8v preouts. But that really doesn't mean too much. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

I was wondering if I needed to solder the ends of my power wire(1/0 knuconcepts) before i put it into my amps. Same goes for the speaker wire going to my sub and speakers. Also, can i just get a cheap battery powered soldering iron, or do i have to get a nicer one? thanks.
