I have always crimped my connections as they mostly are 8 awg or less. Moving to large wire I have found crimping to be a royal pain in the a$$. I was looking at soldering as a nice option but I have only ever soldered water pipes. Is the process and technique basicly the same? Flux the wire and inside of bass connector, heat connector, insert wire and place solder around the edge of the wire so that it is pulled into the connector? Any help that you could provide or tricks of the trade would be great. Plan on upgrading the Big 3 this weekend and some under the hood wiring. Thank you.

in the back of my truck is not the learning experience I quite thought it would be. Until the Fox acoustic box gets here, my rear seat is out and my Great Dane takes pleasure in stepping on the cables. Uncle Mur4phy must have told him to stand right on the connectors because all four are broken. To top it off, he's crapped twice on the sub amp and pushes off anything I cover it up with. Back to the RCA's, those 22gauge wires are too small to hold and solder at the same time. What can I use to hold the jack while soldering? Mind you this has to be done in the back cab of my truck.

I'm looking for a solid amp for my mids and highs, 125-150 rms @ 4 ohms. A friend of mine is pushing me towards the Jl 300.2 but I know there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good. I'd like to keep the price around 200-300$. Thanks for any input!

I am getting ready to place an order from Knu for my wiring. I just want to make sure I get what I need the first time and it's the right stuff. First of all...do I need one or two runs of 1/0g power wire for my two amps? The mono block will likely be an AQ1200d at 2 ohm (870w RMS) and the other amp for my mids/highs will be no more then 150w x 2 @ 4ohms. So if a single run is sufficient, once I get the wire to the amps and I go to split...what size wire should go to the AQ amp? I am just wondering because I didn't see a dist. block on Knu's site that allows for a 1/0g wire to be split into 2 or more 1/0g wires for multiple amps to be ran with that size wire. I figure 4g …

This is from another thread.... Was looking for some clarification, or some words of assurance from Jacob. I personally love Sundown Products, and don't want people to be steered away by false information. I'm not saying that "smgreen20" is not legitimate, just asking for some official info. Thanks

Ok so Im kinda stepping up a little bit on the whole sub scene and I kinda got over my head a little bit. I thought I would look to you guys for some guidance. I have bought 2 15" Orion HCCA's. I bought the dual 4 ohm version thinking Id just run 1 big amp. Well my noobness has bit me in the ass. I need a large amp as wasnt really thinking of the amp draw that this would present. So if I can get any suggestions on amp/batteries/alt that I may need I would owe a favor for sure. I know you guys get these questions all the time and I didnt want to be "this" guy but I really have no other choice. I want to learn this instead of just paying some shop to do it for me. …

I'm currently running 2 dual 2ohm sa-12's and plan on upgrading my amp (currently a crunch 1500 lol, it's getting the job done for now) to 2 saz-1500d's. Right now I'm just saving up money for the amps and working on my electrical. I currently added a lead straight from the alternator to the battery. Replaced the lead from the battery to the chassis and sanded it to bare metal. Added a lead from the block to the the battery. And finally today I added a lead from the block to the chassis (using the same spots as the other grounds). Is upgrading this wire even necessary? After I put that on I had a reading of 14.1X. Turned on the system and it stayed pretty consistent not d…

So I've had the big 3 in my car for about a month and a half now everything was fine until this morning I opened my hood and one fitting was melted. It has 1 0gauge going to the battery and 2 4gauge going to starter and the other going to my fuse box. My car turns off as soon as I turn my AC on my car turns off. Also the 4 gauge going to the fuses had the insulation gone completely melted

So I am off on my way to school when all of a sudden my car decides to play games with me...Ok so I let it go but then it kept doing it and over and over till it got a little serious. It started to reset the head unit by turning it off and then back on. My engine check light was blinking repeatedly. My ABS lights came on. And my power steering gave out but some how managed to come back. I called my brother up and he told me that I should clean all the ends of the wires and clean the terminals of the battery up front. So I did. Works like it was never even broken. Then after driving around for a half hour seeing a movie with my girlfriend, we chilled at her place. She nee…

So the other day i was driving down the street and the stereo was playing just fine. I was on my way to get another door handle to replace the one that broke. Everything was installed and i plugged my driver side door panel in and the speaker connected to it when the subwoofer stage started turning on and off. SO i immediately turned everything off, I went back with a test light and everything was working fine so i plugged everything back together and it worked fine. So today on my way to work the sub stage cuts off completely. So I immediately turn everything off again. Go to work, and come back home. I did the test light thing again and every time i check the amp tur…

So something has gone wrong with my system and I am not sure exactly what it is... My setup is... -12" Icon -AQ 1200d; installed with 1/0 gauge wire and then 12 gauge for the speaker wire. -MY car is a 2000 Jetta VR6 and the alternator is stock.. it's either 90a or 120a but i'm not sure -I am using the AQ gain knob and I have a stinger volt meter.. I had everything installed at a local shop and it was VERY LOUD.. it was so loud that I was afraid to even push it for the little time it was working right, so I don't think any problems have been caused by listening to it too loud. About 6 days after it was installed I was driving around and I noticed on one song the bass was …

Does anyone know the stats behind this ancient Sony XM-235 amplifier? I got it for free in a garage sale package deal with some other stuff. I found some manuals on-line but you have to buy them all. They all have pictures of the manuals front cover with a lot of stats but i can never make out the numbers or words because the resolution is so bad. Thanks for your help.
