  3. Ok my subs are set to never really pop or clip unless you put alot of gain up i have my gain set right according to the dmm set at 43 volts Running a sundown 1500d at 1.5 - 2 ohms. Well i know its not the subs they can take a harder beating by mean turning the gain up higher just distorting them a lil bit so thats not the problem. The popping seems to only happen when on the highway with all windows down doesnt do it when in the city with windows down. So what is the problem here? I have the volume the same spot on samg song in the city and nothing happens. Can someone help me out with this.

Are the preamp sub outs on the head unit low frequency or full range then converted in the mono amp? Excuse my ignorance, I'm as "newbie" as it gets with this stuff. Basically, is there a difference in using them as opposed to line out on the 4-channel amp into the mono?

All my previous amps have had a ssf with a 24db slope I have set 1/2 octave below tuning. My new amp has 12db slope and is 2000 watts more power than my old amp . My tuning is at 33hz on two sundown U10 putting 2500 to each sub so would best bet be to set the ssf at the tuning?

I tried searching but couldnt find a definitive answer. If I wire three dual 4ohm subwoofers to my one ohm stable amp it will see a final ohm load of approximately 2.67ohms. Specs of my amp are as follows: 600@2 ohm and 1000@1 ohm. So at 2.67 the subs would see less than 600 watts right? I was hoping to get closer to the 1000 watts but Im not sure it will be possible. And to explain my situation a little, I got excited one night and order two 10" Black Fiday subs before I realized they were dual four ohms. Thanks for any help too.

I have a problem starting my car (Toyota Celica, 1.8l engine) at -20C / -4F using a HC800 as a starting battery, and I'm trying to find out if the battery is dying or if the efficiency of a HC800 at this temperature is so low that it actually has problems starting a 1.8l engine without being busted. My car don't have any stereo at the moment, the only thing unoriginal is the cd player and the battery under the hood. So what do you all believe, is the battery busted or is it alright? edit: I'm using the car for longer trips, minimum 30 min trips, so the alternator should charge it sufficiently.

lately my kicker zx1000.1 has been acting wierd, when i first set everything up, it sounded great, then, not so great. before the sub was broken in ( a 12'' fi fully loaded bl in a 2.25 cu ft box tuned at 32 hz), i had the gains set and everything with the dmm. now, at the same voltage, my sub sounds like its distorting badly, and i have to turn the gain all the way down. my hu's setting are set to -2 of all bass enhancement. and im not using the bass knob for the amp either. do fi bl's sound like this when theyre broken in? i know there more of a spl type sub made to get loud, but i have only had 2 other subs so i may just be overreacting. any help guys?

I had my friends jls in my car 2 days ago and they worked totally fine. I didn't change anything except put subs in. I called crescendo to see if my amp had blown and he said it must be a signal messed up somehow. The subs I know work becaise we hooked both sets in my friends car and they worked fine in his. What could be the problem?

I just got my system up and running a lil while ago, now I have a problem. I had a Maxxlink in, but the subs were barely moving, though quite loud. I had the input level set correctly, and wired up just as the manual diagrammed. So I decided to take it out and see how it would be with just 2 sets of strapped amps (4 SAZ-3000d's). I only have one set of rcas going back from the hu, so I got some rca splitters so I could get rcas to the other master amp. Now, I'm getting a ringing out of the subs, sounds almost like a 1000hz tone or something. The pitch also increases as I get on the throttle. I also have quite a bit less output than when the Maxxlink was in. So I've been …

Does anyone know of a standalone subsonic filter you can buy? My friend bought a Kicker ZX700.5 and it doesn't have one... But he doesn't need a full audio processor or crossover, just the subsonic filter. I'm looking for something that preferably hooks into the RCA's, but if there are any other options please let me know. Thanks for the help

  15. Just purchased the sealed enclosure for 2) 12" SSA GCONs - Net will be 1.3.1-45 FT^3 per. I've been doing some research but have seen a very wide variety of recommendations for setting the amp's subsonic filter for sealed enclosures. Some say to set it @ or just below the Fs of the speaker (31.5hz for the GCON) Some say that you don't need to run the subsonic filter at all because the air-suspension inside of the sealed enclosure acts as a shock absorber/accumulator and will provide ample protection from over-excursion. Not sure which is the best bet for my situation. Naturally, I want to protect my drivers without inhibiting performance. What should I be doing here?…

How do I know what to set my SSF to? The Fs of my sub is 36.4Hz Box is 2 cubes tuned to 38Hz FS of my truck is 37Hz I can give you any T/S params you need, or you can get them from here: http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/subwo...ta_T9512-44.pdf (PDF file, 693KB) A direct answer of what to set it to is fine, but I would like to know how to calculate it, or at least a "rule of thumb" to go by when setting the cutoff frequency.

Im building a sealed enclosure for my 2 15" Obsidians that's gonna be about 4 Cu Ft. after displacement. I plan on using my Hifonics Zeus 2000 which has a subsonic filter on it which for my ported enclosure I set about 5 Hz under my Box tuning. There's no option to turn the Subsonic filter off so I'm wondering what exactly I should set it at when using it for a sealed enclosure. Sorry if this lacks detail I'm unsure how/what to base setting it off of so I'm not sure what else to include.

hi, i have 2 sundown sd1 v1 12" and i am thinking about using them until i can get enough money to buy to system i really want so if i can limit how much i spend the better. anyway i already have a sundown sax100.2 that i was going to use to power them but the problem being that it does not have a subsonic filter on it. and i was wondering if i could get away with using my alpine 9887 crossovers and my sax100.2 crossovers and bandpass it, if that would ok an ok alternative.

I installed a fi ssd lastnight. My enclosure is 2 cu ft tuned to 32 hz. At first I set the subsonic filter at about 12 o'clock and I wasn't impressed, the lows were really lacking. I figured since the filter ranges from 15-50 that half way would be 32.5. I turned the filter back to around 10 o'clock and the sub really opened up, I'm very happy with it now. I don't want to harm my new woofer so I'm just curious if I have it set correct. Other info. Hu is an alpine cda 105 (2 volt preouts). Amp gain set a hair over half way. No bass boost and I'd say the lpf is set around 10 o'clock also

Well I just started today really trying to tweak everything on my amplifiers to get everything working correctly. I started with my big amp setting the gain with a DMM. all that went well but I noticed that my subsonic may have been off. So I popped in a tone to 33hz to try and make it cutoff at that point and its not. I cranked it up to 60 hz (has a range of 10-60hz) and it is still not cutting that signal out. Is it possible I have a faulty SSF? I have a SAZ-3500D and a SAX-50.4

Just need someone to explain to me what the subwoofer setting does, currently I have it at -10. It sounds really nice at that setting, when I turn it up to 0 or +1..2..3 etc, the bass feels more jumpier and not as nice, what does this setting do, and what should it be set at?

so say if someone was to buy 8 sa-8's and wants to wire them to 1 ohm... would it be easier to take 4, 4 0hm dvc subs, wire them to 2 ohms, and do the same with the other 4, then wire those positives and negatives to the positives and negatives on the amp? or is there an easier way of doing it? i may not even go with 8 sa-8's but if i do i want to understand how to wire up that many subs, because the most ive ever wired up is 2.
