I'm almost embarrassed to be asking this but I want to do my own instal for the first time since 1995 and I know there are some major pros on this site, here goes... I'm keeping the factory radio, no NAV, no amplifier on my 2013 JEEP Wrangler with the stock 6 speaker system. I plan on using my Audio Control LC2i as a line driver and purchasing a PPI 900.4 and mounting under the dash. I bought a Bravox component system from this forum for the front and have replaced the sound bar coaxles with a pair of Alpine type S's I picked up for $25. I'm using deck power for the sound bar, I hated the idea of rear speakers at first but a Jeep is a rolling compromise, and will us…

Downsizing my equipment and looking for a new amp to power 1 xcon. Just looking for a awesome mono amp 500-1500w @ 2ohms. Trying to keep it under $250 and not in a rush, hoping to come across some black friday deals. Any recommendations? So far I've came across http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34764_Rockford-Fosgate-R1200-1D.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_68122_RE-Audio-USX-45KV.1.html and the IA 10.1 or sae-1000d

Serious issue going on with my system, and I know it's gotta be my electrical..... just need some advice on where to go. I've only had my system in since April, and I've noticed at times that my front stage will suddenly begin losing treble, then volume. I turn it down and it recovers pretty quickly, within a minute..... but will do it again if turned back up. I have not upgraded the electric at all.... was hoping I wouldn't need to being that I'm not pushing a lot of wattage. Amp is a Kenwwod7005PS 5 channel..... manual says it pulls 56 amps. I'm guessing my Scion xB 80 amp alt just isn't enough...... but would doing a big 3 help this??? (I have some 4 ga left over from …

I just ordered a 1200rms amp from Hifonics, then, on sale I found another hifonics amp of the same class and everything on sale for the same price, but its 1700rms! The 2 subs im running will take 400-500rms each, so I know the amp is overpowered, but should I cancel my order and get the 1700rms??? I wont lose anything, I just need to know if the amp is too powerful? I would like to save the amp for a future more powerful setup. I have a 2000 mustang, and I only play music while the car is turned on, will the 1700 amp be too much to start my car? or will I notice any difference in power even if I keep everything turned down to only be pushing about 800-1000rms??? Pleas…

I have been looking at the clarion eqs746 dash mount crossover. Not sure if I like the idea that my head unit has 3 rca outputs and the EQS746 only has one input. I am interested in installing a crossover but was thinking of looking at a trunk mounted model. thoughts??? Opinions???? model suggestions for the trunk mount models??? have been looking at Audio control and I have a MTX RT-X02i used in the 90's looking to improve my current sound output. I feel like I am missing something just haven't figured that out yet.

I've been looking into buying a new sub amp for my car. I am in a slow building process as of now I have done the big 3 with 1/0 ofc from xs power and I ordered more wiring to run to the trunk. I am almost done building my amp rack and now I'm trying to decide on what amp to get. I have it done to 3 that I had in mind that run the same power and are supposedly reliable. The 3 that I had in mind are the IA 10.1 or the Sundown SAZ 1200 or the DC 1.2K. The sub I will be ordering is a FI SSD fully loaded. I listen mostly to rap and salsa as far as my music preference goes. I am open to other suggestions as well but I want to hear what people have to say about them as far powe…

If I'm trying to do a 2 way front stage. With a 3 way crossover that has the hpf 's I need for the Mids and tweeters how would I cut them off where they need to be if I have no controls on the amp for them? Subs are from 25-60. I was thinking about getting the audiopipe 3k, but a little confused on wiring my two D4 subs on the amp. Before you comment don't tell me to not get it because its a POS (I'm not asking wether I should get it or not). I am on a budget.. The amp does around 3k @ 2ohms. If you aren't familiar with the amp it has 2 channels, its basically two 1500s strapped. Can I wire my 2 D4 subs on this amp to get a 2ohm final load on the amp to receive 3k? This amp has got me so confused haha, thanks for the help.

What are some brands of some good solid amplifiers that do over rated power? I know majority of fosgate power series amps are underrated by at least 1k watts

I was dinkin with my stereo today. i usually run my kenwood 900/1 to my 2 12 inch kicker L5s. they hit pretty dang good. i got curious and daisy linked my alpine 350/1 ( I know its probably a bad idea to link mis matched amps like that but i was bored ) and hooked up my 2 10 inch rockford fosgates. it was VERY loud. i had it all the way up and looked at my alt gauge and it had dropped from over 14 to nearly 9 volts. just for future reference since i plan on buying a matching kenwood amp to what i have and running both, should i use a capacitor or just get a second battery? my alternator is pretty new and i have a brand spankin new 800 cca battery. my amp is wired with #2 …

Hey everyone, I've got this irritating alternator whine ever since upgrading my front stage, hopefully someone can give me some insight. Here's my setup: 02 Lexus IS300 Alpine CDA-9856 MRX-M110 RE SE 12 *SPR-17s *PDX 4.150 *KX3 crossover The items marked with asterisks are new components to this install (owned them since ~07, sat in the closet for a while) and are where the noise is coming from somehow. I've searched extensively for resources to find anything I could do to fix this issue but to no avail. The most comprehensive guide I've found is at http://www.termpro.com/asp/pubs.asp?ID=121 but I've tried everything (new to me) that they suggest, bu…

I have a crunch powerzone 1500.1 and have a strange issues between it and my head unit. I raise the gain, and there is little to no difference throughout the range until it's about 3/4 up. However, if I raise the line level input (I play music from my phone) it increases dramatically, however my highs distort, no matter how I adjust their amp. I haven't even bothered with the bb because I've heard nothing good about it; but I don't feel right maxing my gain to get decent output. It's the same level of sound as my 150w amp without the line level adjustment and I figure 6-700w increase should sound a little louder? only asking this now, because I plan on getting a new amp …

I've been running my 2 Dcons off of 300 watts (total) for a few months now, and I guess my ears are now getting used to the volume. Soooooo......time for more power! I've run across a Zapco Reference 750 that a guy has for $100. Looks to me like a great fit wattage-wise, as it will push 375 per channel or 750 bridged. I just want to know how these amps measure up, as I've never heard of them. Google searches seem to bring up positive reviews, but I'd like to hear from you guys who may have had experience with them. Thanks in advance!

I've been watching a few videos of people using the Steve Meade/D'Amore Engineering DD-1 Distortion Detector for setting their gains and also in identifying if and where the head-unit output begins to distort (max safe listening volume). Anyone use this before or know anyone that has? Whats the verdict on this thing? Just asking out of curiosity, i've always set mine by ear anyway but it does look interesting. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_61378_SMD-DD-1-Distortion-Detector-Analyzer-by-Steve-Meade-Designs.html

what is going on here? i had a ZX1500.1 for 5 and a half years with zero issues on stock electric between 3 different vehicles. My ZX2500.1 died earlier this year after only about 4 months of use, i sent it off to kicker for repair and got it back, not long after i lost my sub and had to buy a new one. this amp as is has been used less than a month and a half. i was bumping at close to max volume day before yesterday, i arrive at my destination with time to spare so i sit in the truck with the engine off for about 45 min doing paper work with the stereo on at 1/4 volume. i had to run into the store so i shut off the truck accessories and go in, i come back out and turn …
