Hello, I am in the process of deciding what I should do. I used to have a 180A alternator and it went bad. I sent it back to get fixed, and they quoted me $170 to build it back to 180A, or basically to fix it. However, they said that for $100 more, they can rebuild it to 200A. (I took it apart just for fun when I sent it back to them, just for fun, and it looked like it was a completely stock alternator which I thought was weird, but then again, I don't know what, besides rectifier diodes, is used to make an OEM alternator a high output alternator. What I do know is that I must've paid close to $350 for it back in 2006.) Anyways, when my system will consist of, will be: …

Its time for me to install all my gear, ive installed few HU's here and there but never a full system consisting of multiple amps, subs, rear battery, and components. I was told to run a line of 1/0 from the front to the rear + batt terminal, and ground to the chassis of my car. Fuse few inches from front + batt. terminal. For the rear battery, do I fuse inches before the rear battery? How big of ANL fuses should I use, I will have 170 amp fuses in total from my amps, so maybe 200 ANL fuses will be good? Then from the rear battery, ill be running some 1/0 gauge to a dsitro block and will give me 2, 4 gauge outputs that I will connect to my amps, (AQ 1200d, and Kenwood KA…

I have a 160amp alt, SHURiKEN SK-BT60 (Cranking Amp 1500, Amp Hours 60) under the hood and I want to run a saz1500 at .5ohm with 2 more 300 watt amps and have a stable voltage around 12+. Would 1 sk-bt20(20 AH, 850 Cranking Amp) be enough, what are your recommendations or thoughts? also 2 sk-bt20s would be the same price as 1 sk-bt35 (35 AH, 950 Cranking Amp)

Ok, say I want to use a simple toggle switch to control a relay for whatever reason. Do I grab +12 from any source (battery, ign switched, etc), run it through the switch, to the relay coil, to ground, and hook up whatever I wanted to power using the switched terminals? Thanks, ~Trevor

I was checking out this amp. I remember hearing nothing but good things about their stuff years ago, nothing recently. but I hadnt heard of SSA, sundown, Fi, or... either seen it usually for 260 and up, ikesound has it for 199. Ive seen ratings listed anywhere from 990-1150 watts RMS into 1 ohm. their website as a link to there amps but is loading a blank page for me right now, so I also cant find out if it has a SSF? they any good? put out true ratings? underrated?

  10. I have an '06 tahoe and I am planning on running a saz-3500d @ 1.33ohms and a sax-125.2. I have $400 to put towards an alt today, this Saturday I'll have enough to purchase: 2000-2006 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban V8 AD 270 Amp XP series alternator That seems to be the highest rated alternator I can find. Am I better off waiting and getting that or do any of you guys know of anything cheaper but just as good?

ok so i have a CDA-9887 Maybe its because i'm not using it to its full potential, maybe i'm just picky but man i am starting to really dislike this radio. Seems like it has a chitty tuner. Because after 2 months now i've finally managed to procure an antenna adapter for my car. And i can't get good reception on some local channels and there are some channels that were super strong i can't catch at all. Now i'm wishing i'd stuck with pioneer 880PRS like i originally wanted. Anyone know if this is normal? i don't have the multEQ tuner either so maybe if i had that i'd like my system more. Also the 9887 is supposed to have 4.0V outputs, but i find this hard to believe…

I'm thinking about going all out in my car. I'm already building a new box or two for my Fi BL15. I'm thinking 8"s in the front doors maybe some HLCD. Rear fill will more than likely be something modest. Now here is the kicker, I want to keep the factory radio. The car is a 2005 Chrysler 300c with the Boston Acoustics 8ch system. I was looking at the JL Clean Sweep, Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty, and I recently came across the JBL MS-8. The JBL website it awesome compared to the other two, but it appears the JBL is geared more for the person not wanting to add amps or aftermarket speakers. Has anyone used any of these products or something similar? There are no real sh…

I recently took out my big heavy soundsystem due to the weight in the back causing traction issues up front.( gonna fix that this summer i hope), but for now i took my two kinetic 1800 batteries out. I went out and bought a cheap battery maintainer thing from advanced autoparts, it says 1.5 amp maintain. My question is can i paralled the batteries together and hook both up to this one maintainer or would i need to get another. To me it seems fine, it would still be seeing 12v to maintain. Right?

Hey guys just trying to get a little info about some electrical from more experienced people. Im looking into getting a new alt, i have a 2005 chevy silverado 5.3L. Now i see iraggi has a 300 amp alt and dc power has a dual bracket kit that comes with a 185 amp alt, all in the same price range which would be best for me? Run a single big alt or have the 185 to the amp? Also i have a xs power d3400 as my starting battery, but i was wondering if i put a 900 cca as my starting battery could i put the xs power in the back and be ok? Cause i read something like you cant have two different sized batterys in the vehicle, i plan to run a crescendo 3500, just trying to see my best…

Ill be buying a new amp soon. Ill be putting this amp on 3 10 re srx. The amp will be on the stock electrical and I might do the big 3 upgrade. And i might be getting an amp for my highs and mids. I have the alpine type r 5x7. They are 100wrms each. My budget on the amp is spending no more than 150 for the high amp. For the sub amp i will be spending no more than 280$ Oh and the amps i could get the SAE 1200d for 211 refurbished and the SAZ1000d for 197 refurbished. They will be on a 2000 f250

I am putting in 3 external batteries in the back of my suv. The batteries are obviously going to be grounded to the chasis. I have been confused on whether it would be better to ground the amps to the chasis as well or if it would be better to run the ground to the batteries. The batteries are each going to have 2 runs of 1/0 to the chasis. Which is a better idea?

as of now my gains are set to the max preout voltage of my headunit (just got a dmm the other day), so pretty conservatively. but now that I am going to set them more aggressively with the dmm, i want to make sure not to send a clipped signal to either my mids or subs, but for both, i'm going to be using the full rated RMS of my amps. so my question is: is there any way to know if my amps will be able to do rated without clipping? if you just have to guess based on the amps, the amps are: a TMA 320.4 (4-channel from JL's entry level brand) and a Massive P1000.1 (at 4 ohms) no, i don't have an O-scope

So like the topic says I am having a tuff time picking out a Double din Hu. I would like three sets of outputs navigation is not a must and a nice looking screen I would like something of good quality that is my main concern. Mainstream is not a requierment, nice quality and a good value are. thanks for the help Matt
