All right, i have a question about grounding. I have an 1 F capacitor, got it for free and just using it untill i have enough to buy all new equipment for my truck. I was wondering if it would be alright if i grounded my amplifier to my capacitor, and then my capacitor to my floor? would there be any problems in that? thanks, scott Edit: This is gonna be for my sub amp

What is the best way to decide on a head unit? My budget is no more than $250. I want something that looks clean, functions well, and sounds good too. Does anyone have any experience with the Alpine iDA-X303?

I am just curious since i always here people say that they notice a difference in sound at lower impedance, if 2 ohms will make a noticeable difference in my setup. I currently (and temporarily) am running an MTX 81000d which is rated at 1000w into 2 ohm load. I modified it to run at lower impedance but don't really plan on it. Do you think that there will be a major discernible difference between me running it at 2 or 4 ohms? Will it be as dramatic as an am with rated minimum impedance of 1 ohm running at 1 vs. 4. Just curious because where mine is rated at 2 minimum, i didn't know if it would have the same adverse effect as minimum impedance on something capable of lowe…

So I am trying to figure out which LOC is best. I know about the 3SIXTY, CleanSweep, and new MS-8. I'm not really looking for anything that complicated. I want to retain my factory steering wheel functions, sat. radio, bluetooth func. etc. I really believe in the modo, K.I.S.S.=Keep It Simple Stupid. Because of this I was dead set on the Audio Control LC6iBUT just found out about the re-Q5. Now I'm unsure which is best, and more importantly best for me. 1st the re-Q5 is just a bit more than the LC6i but still with-in my budget. whats up yall. in my system i have us amps 400, esx q404, two ssd12's, a duralast battery upfront and an optima red top in back. for fuse i only have the one in between the two batteries and it is 80a. thats the only one the local car shop had left at the time of install. my question is should i go ahead and order a bigger fuse? does it really matter? and should i have another fuse somewhere in my setup? the esx is internally fused and the us amps has very good internal protection. anybody with thoughts on this?

How do I connect my subs to my Amp to Bring it down to 2ohms? The amp rating is 200x4ohms 400x2ohms 800x4ohms Bridging the amp L- R+ brings the amp to 800x4ohms So I was wondering how to do I connect it to bring it down to 400x2ohms. Right now it's connected R+ R- and I don't know if that's 200x4ohms or 400x2ohms. Please help.

I'm building a new box soon for my rl-p 18, and was just thinking of a better way to wire my sub(not wiring it to a different load, just wiring it to one ohm differently. Its a d2 and my amp is a saz1000d. the way its wired now, its just like the image on the 12 volt, wired parallel. the problem is that where the pos and neg go into the sub from the amp, the terminal isnt large enough to cram two 10 gauge wires in. In order to get it in i had to shave a bunch off of it to fit them in. Is it possible to just run one pos from the amp to one on the sub, then run the other pos on the amp to the other pos on the sub since it is a mono amp? thanks

So I should be getting my sub in today. I think. I never got trackng lol. Anyway I wont be able to do my Big 3 until friday.....will it be ok running my sub and amp on stock electrical until then? In case you havent seen my other posts I will be running 1 IA Lethal injection 12 on a SAE-1200D @ 2ohm for 600wrms. What do you guys think? Got a new build in works on Acura TL. Need amp recomendations for pure SQ app using very high end drivers(listed in my subwoofer thread). Rms over 1000 needed other than that just looking to upgrade my current bsheeted 1650 at 14.4 with >92 s/n ration, 83 db chan sep, and <.05%thd from 20-85ish. Also have to use an OEM integration because Acura thinks there stereo is perfect the way it is... Looking at JL's, the RF 360.2(or other versions) and a couple from audio control(all good shit). So i have a Power Acoustik Bamf series amplifier that i bought two or so months ago. When i hooked it up for the first time in my first car it worked fine. I took it out about a month later and havent used it up until today. Now heres my problem. My remote wire will not turn on my amplifier. My power and my grounds are good. the power ground and remote wires all read out to around 13.5 with the car at idle and a little over 12 when in accessory. What i dont understand is why my amplifier will not turn on even though the remote connection is good. Oh yeah the fuses are not blown either. any help would be appreciated.

okay so heres the deal. i have 2 ssa icons, thinking (going to buy) adding 2... more so here: 4 SSA icons 12's i need amps to power them. i'm looking at spending $750 (about) for amps (would love to only run 2) was thinking about hifonics brutus but after reading some posts they seem like garbage. what amps? another question would be nice to be answer is: how would you go upon hooking up 2 subs to a single monoblock? is it as simple as twisting wires togeather or is it no advised to do such thing.

Hey guys just trying to get a little info about some electrical from more experienced people. Im looking into getting a new alt, i have a 2005 chevy silverado 5.3L. Now i see iraggi has a 300 amp alt and dc power has a dual bracket kit that comes with a 185 amp alt, all in the same price range which would be best for me? Run a single big alt or have the 185 to the amp? Also i have a xs power d3400 as my starting battery, but i was wondering if i put a 900 cca as my starting battery could i put the xs power in the back and be ok? Cause i read something like you cant have two different sized batterys in the vehicle, i plan to run a crescendo 3500, just trying to see my best…

I have a question if anyone can help answer it. this is the problem i'm having. i have 2 of the fi 18 bl's. i'm running them with 2 of the mtx 7801d amps. 1 per sub. this is the part that gets weird. i have all thing hooked up but not the remote wire to the amps yet. the subs start freaking out. when the gains and the db boost on the amps are turned all down the subs still move a little without signal from the deck yet. as soon as you start to increase the gains the subs do it again. like i said NO signal from the deck. i have to use the db boost on the amps, because as soon as i hook up the bass knob the subs freak out. i'm kind of lost. when i have hooked up the remote …

i wanted to buy the new kenwood double din head unit ... it has a 5v rca output ... my problem is my rockford amps have an input sensitivity up to 4 volts ... what will happen if i run the 5v rca output to the amps? ... if i tune the amps with the h/u to say 75% of max volume will the voltage output be less (approx 3.75v)?

Is it me but I just bought an hd radio and it sounds terrible. I thought it was suppose to be cd quality. I will agree than the sound stage widens and more clarity with the highs and lows. But it's also accompanied with an electronic (synthesized) sound. Kind of like a subtle robot voice in the background. Which I don't experience with analog signals.

im running 0 gauge, from redtop, to a kicker 1500. which the battery terminals are 2 i believe. more or less, am i gonna be using power if i use gauge reducers?

i got my box built, needs finishing braces and covering. But, now i have no place for my amps. I have searched and read couple post that say it is ok, and some that say it is not. If I just double the sides of the box and mount my amps on the side, will they be ok? I have enough room if I mount my 1500d's end to end and then my 100.4 on the other side. I can mount them on my back seat, but the seat wont be able to fold up. Pic of where box sits now:
