Alright so I had a nine.1 I bought used. Worked great for a couple months then all 4 fuses would blow on it. So I sent it to eD under warranty. Finally recieved one back after like 3 months of waiting. Installed the amp, worked for about 5-10 minutes then did the same thing. The amp was extremely hot to the touch also. eD wasn't much help so I decided to say fudge it and I purchased a used SAZ-1500D from Jacob which should be arriving Monday. I've been talking back and forth with Jacob about this problem and he said that there might be a short in my power wire. Theres only one spot where the rubber encasing is wore down a little bit but none of the wires i…

  6. Hey everyone, I got a sundown x18 powered by a hifonics zeus 1800 and crescendo components to the doors on 600w hifonics zeus. I was running this setup for a couple weeks with stock battery, stock 75a alternator, and no big 3 with no problems at all. With the stock setup, my volts were around 14.2v at idle and when I turn my system up it usually drops from around 13.1-11v and the stock alternator kept up pretty well. I decided to get a new Kinetik 1800w battery, a 175a alternator, and I did the big 3. When I did all of this, my system got worse. My volts were running at around 13.4-13.7 and when I did something as little as rolling up my windows, it drained he volts all…

Hey I'm gonna try and not make this a versus thread. I'm selling my profile cl1200 (shut up) and am looking for an upgrade. It's going to power 2 10" L5's (ported) so I'm basically looking for a solid 800~1kW dclass @ 1 or 4 ohm. My price range is anywhere from 200-300. Right now my current choices are an Autotek SX-900X. http://www.thezeb.com/p-Autotek-SX-900X-Mo...fier-106630.htm soundstream ega 900d http://www.cardomain.com/item/SSTEGA900D those both do 900w rms at 1ohm or.... an infinity 1210a, 854w (or something) CEA rated at 4ohm...2ohm stable (i think it does 1300 or something). anyhow, they're all relatively the same price. I need some VALID opinions here. …

I have a Soundstream RUB 1600 watt amp wire at 1 ohm. When I set my gains I used the typical 50hz, sub wires disconnected, etc... I set the voltage to 40 volts on the nuts. Hooked everything back up and let er rip. Sounds fine. Well I finally got around to mounting the amp and cleaning up the wires. Before I did that though I double checked my gains. Voltage was at 47 volts? What would cause it to rise like that? I used the same tone as before. So I have been checking it off and on for the last couple days and sure enough, volts keep rising up even the the gain knob hasn't been touched. Any idea on why it would do this? I've checked everything from the battery back and ev…

  12. I got a brand new aq1200d and after i wired everything up the amp has power and has plenty of it, getting almost 14 volts while the car is running, but there is no signal getting sent out from the amp. Ive tested it with a known good rca cable and even used an ipod to eliminate the head unit but still no sound. I don't know what to check now. The amp is not going into protected mode. Going to call audioque 2night after class and see if they have any input. any advise before i go crazy lol

k, well i went and got a dual 30amp fuse power dist. block. i got questions that need sum answers. 1.) how do u wire up a capaciator with the dist. block? 2) and i was wondering if i need a fuse block as well? since the power dist. block has dual fuses then i thought that i wouldn't need that. 3.)how do u wire up 2 rcas from the deck to 2 amps? the deck only has one set of rcs. but i have 2 y spliters layin around. how would i hook them up? thanks.

Hey I got an amp that says its minimum impedance bridged is 4 ohms, and will produce 1000w at 4 ohms bridged. Ive been running 2 dual 4 ohm subs to make the 4 ohms bridged mode, but due to power limitations I want to take out one of the subs so I can get more power to push a single sub. Since the amp does 1000w bridged at 4 ohms, would it be safe to assume that if I wired a single sub to run at 8 ohms, it would produce 500w rms bridged? Edit: by power limitations I mean I'm running my stock 80 amp alternator, no spare battery and no big 3. so my subs have to split somewhere around 400 watts, id rather just push one at 400 watts than 2 at 200.

  18. I'm trying to hook up my amp/subs to my factory bose radio in my 91 Legend. I've got an ssa dcon 10", alpine mrp-m350, knukonceptz 8-gauge wiring kit, and pac soem-t speaker to rca converter. I've tapped the rear speakers correctly and cannot get the amp to power on at all! I've tried different ground points. I'm connecting the blue wire from the pac loc converter to my amps remote connector b/c the pac says that is built in remote. The yellow wire which teh pac says to connect to a 12v constant source is connected to my bose amp power line from the headunit. Do I need to run a seperate remote line or find a different 12v source? I'de just buy a whole new headunit, but m…

  19. So my amp keeps cutting off the power to my subs. It mainly occurs when I try to get my subs louder. It didn't do this as often a month ago. I think it was after a day of delivering pizza with it bumpin all day, amp got hot and my fuses blew, I believe ever since then it's been acting like a wimp. I'm wondering a few things I have stock electrical system, would the amp protect itself because its supply is inadequate? my subs run 300rms my amp runs 900rms, did I ruin my subs which is causing my amp to protect itself? (that would be awesome, been tryin to swap them out but gotta hurt em first) whatever it is, it keeps randomly protecting itself and when I turn my HU off…

So I was demoing my Sundown 1500 amp to some guys, and thought I may have heard something that sounded like some slight whirring. I didn't think it was anything to worry about as everything was sounding fine, I turned everything off and turned off the car. When I started up the car the next time: nothing. Checked all fuses, they were fine. Not even going into protect. Any ideas? It is quite hot out there today, as well.

So I'm not new to car audio, but I'm new to the fine tuning. Years ago, I'd wire a sub to an amp and be done with it. Now, I've found that it's a little more technical than that. Here's my issue: I'm doing the 'gain setting,' and I'm not sure how to calculate the target voltage. I read somewhere that when you run a dual 4ohm sub, you have the double the target voltage, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. The target voltage of my current sub amp is 43.8@ 4ohms, 42@3ohms and 40@2ohms. I'm running an old JL 12W3v2, dual 4ohm sub. I have it wired in parallel, so I can bring it down to 2ohms. Does that mean that my target voltage is now 80? My brain is going to start spill…

  23. I'm nearing the finish line in an installation that includes a new HU with FT/RT, FR/LT RR/RT RR/LT, and a SUB output, plus an unmarked, unidentified in the manual, RCA output on the back of the HU next to the SUB output. I have a 5 channel amp that has Channels 1(white), 2(red), 3(white) and 4(red) marked clearly on the amp, plus a SUB RT(white) and SUB LFT(red) input, all input by RCA. The same amp has 4 sets of output terminals, 1 each for + & -. It also has 2 terminals for the sub (+ & -), which connects to the sub on R &L posts. So, first question: How do I run a cable from the HU, which is 1 RCA connection, to the AMP, which has both LT and RT RC…

The other day I was driving and I smelt a wire heating up and starting to burn so I turned the music down and then my sub stopped working. I assumed my ground was bad but none of my wires are melted, my amp isn't in protect mode, no blown fuses and the sub wasn't blown. I can't seem to locate the location of wires burning and need some suggestions of things to do. I have 1 12" Q @ 1 ohm with 1000 watt Brutus amp powering it all.

I've started looking at amps for my SPl set up so I know how much I need to save. I really dont want to spend more than $500 but i know that is kinda hard. Im looking for something that can drive my Ava at 4ohm well or 1ohm with the gains down and do some good SPL runs at 1ohm with my Custom Woofage DP. I was looking at the 20.1 but that is alot of money. Kicker, Orion, they all cost lots of money for lots of power. I know power cost money but does anyone know where i can get the hook up? Ive yet to talk to my GF's uncle about a kicker amp. assumeing i could get one what would be a good amp to suit my needs.
