I've seen on SSA before that you shouldn't mount an amp sideways because it will mess up how the heat dissipates. by sideways i mean one end of the amp facing the bottom of the vehicle, and the other facing the top. If it is true that this is a bad idea for overheating issues, why? and i need somewhat of a detailed answer; i'm arguing with an engineer and they don't accept "because the car audio professionals said so!!!" thanks and im asking because it would save a hell of a lot of space if i could mount it sideways

okay, just had a chance to clamp my ct sounds 4000.1. Not impressed and wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what i could be doing wrong. Had a SQ 2200 and it is considerably louder than it but still i would like to see the amp do rated... 54v x 48.2 amps at .5 nominal... rise to 1.12... 2603 watts - 50 hertz - drop to 11.8 on dmm at dual inputs, not gain knob... at 12.4 volts that would still be less than 3000 if my math is correct... that was using the clip light to set gain tho and i have heard they are early... didnt have time to check oscope against it... 2004 blazer, 240 mechman, duracell agm 34 under hood, 400 amp fuse, duracell agm 31 in rear, Kicker 1/0…

Apparently I'm addicted to power. I currently have a ton of equipment sitting in the basement, and no vehicle to put it all in. Seem I keep buying amplifiers. I own a work van that I drive daily, a 1966 Buick that looks pretty in the driveway, and I have no intention of putting a system in that. I just have way too much hardware so my plans keep changing. I'm after a total SQ install, and "over the top volume"(across all frequency ranges not just bass) is something that is VERY important to me. EXTREME mid-bass and VERY clear loud highs are a must. Any suggestions as to which equipment I use and don't use are welcome. here is a list: HU- Denford 8240 HU- Denford 8240 Cap…

  10. Unfortunately, the sundown 3000w install was whack because the head unit's preouts were going crazy so the amp couldnt be turned up high enough for an accurate comparison. I will post spec of the amp anyway but shouldnt be compared 100% accurately because the volume level wasn't the same as the other 2. Sundown 3000d- Voltage - 11.8v Current Pull - 122A Wattage pull - 1440w Voltage Out - 18.6v Current Out - 64.6A Wattage Out - 1202w Actual Resistance - 3.47 Ohms Efficiency - 83.5% (Test not fair) Powerbass 3000D- Voltage - 12.15v Current Pull - 119A Wattage Pull - 1446w Voltage Out - 62v Current Out - 19.7A Wattage Out - 1221w Actual Resistance - 3.15 Ohms Efficiency - 84…

I was just wondering what most 1kw + amps do max power at and remain stable according to manufacturer at. If your 1 ohm stable amp can go to .5 ohm stable with some modding lets classify it is as doing max power at 1 ohm for the sake of this thread. Feel free to post what amp you have, what resistance it does max power at, and what rms power at that resistance is.

Well the title says it all, I havge been surfing a while now and found MANY amplifiers that match my budget and wishes for power. Now the question becomes what amplifier will make me speakers give out the best SQ possible. Brands I have taken a look at: Nakamichi, Zapco, Sundown Audio, ARC Audio, Alpine, Infinity, MB Quart, Memphis, Rockford Fosgate, Hifonics, Soundstream, Rainbow, Orion, MTX, Alphasonik, PPI, Diamond Audio and Kicker As You can see, a lot of brands, and even more amps. so I have a lot of work a head of me. I know a little basic stuff, like THD and S/N Ratio and what to look for there. But is there any thing else one can look at to find out what amplifie…

  13. I have a Zcon 12 on a BC2000. I am unsure on how to set everything properly. I set gains by ear and it has always worked out for me. Now how do I tune everything? I have the power and ground of the lc2i at the battery in back. I have left and right inputs tapped into the rear speakers. There are 3 dials. I don't know where to start. I tried messing with it last night and couldn't get it right. If anyone that has/had this can help me that'd be great. Thanks in advance.

Hello SSA! Does anyone know if 12v 400 amp circuit breakers exist and where to get them? I've got a 300a breaker on the main 2/0 power wire coming from the alternator and front battery then going back to 5 Deka group 31 batts. At about 2/3 power with music, the breaker kicks. And for those who are curious, I'm running 6 BTL 15's on 6 SAZ-3500D's. DB

  23. Im getting Alpine Type‑R SPR‑60C 2‑way Speakers. rated at 4 ohms Going to be using an amplifier that can output at least 100 RMS each channel. up to around 125 RMS per channel. My car is a 2013 hyundai elantra coupe. I tried asking dealership if they knew the gauge of the factory speaker wire. or how to figure it out, in some manual or booklet. they said theres really no way to know, unless u measure or look at the wire itself. I tried looked at youtube videos or other sources online and couldnt find anything specifying the gauge of the factory speaker wire. Im assuming its between 18-22 gauge wire? I heard that something such as 20 gauge wir…
