Hi guys I hope all is good. Years ago we all had capacitors in our cars ( 1990's ) and later we went to the Batcaps. Why did we stop using them?? Did batteries kill them off are what? Are do people still use them and I just didn't see them?

I just got my Batcap 800 today. The instructions say NOT to ground it to the chasis! Does this seem strange to anybody else? I've used caps before and have always grounded them to the chasis. It says to wire it in parallel to the amp. If it's 25% cap & 75% battery why wouldn't you ground it to the chasis? A background on my system...Optima Yellow Top (38Ah) under the hood, Big 3 (1/0), stock alt (80A), going to run 1/0 back to Batcap 800, (1999) US Amps 150X bridged to RE 10D2 in a sealed box .61 ft^3. HU is Panasonic DFX-85. This is all in a 1996 Honda Orthia (Civic wagon). I want to be able to swap my system out without too many upgrades. I have 2 O/S US Amps 20…

So my car has been dieing after sitting overnight. It won't start in the morning. I have been leaving it on the charger overnight. I have an Optima Red Top under the hood and a 55ah SR12-205FR Super Rate Series in the trunk. I took the trunk batt out at Autozone and the guy tried to test it and said it was at 10.xx volts and he couldn't run the test with it that low. He said that I have to do a trickle charge on this batt, it can't be charged with a regular charge. Is this true? Then we tested the red top (with the trunk batt still disconected) and it was resting at 12.41 volts and read as a bad batt. The Autozone guy said it should be around 12.45 volts and I should tri…

If you follow my build log you'll see I'm gonna be running an aq 2200 to an 18 btl at 1 ohm. My car has a 135 amp alt but I'm pretty sure ill need some batts. I have room for 2 large batteries but I'm unsure of what kind. Would 2 of the everstart maxx batts from walmart work? Or do I have to use a deep cycle battery? Also do I have to replace my batt under the hood? Also do I have to match my batteries in the trunk with my main battery? Big 3 will be done all wire will be 1/0 also. Thanks if more info is needed please let me know.

So I go to put my 3400 in after charging. It took it off the charger put it in the car check it with a DMM and reading 13.7v or so. So I hook everything up and start the truck. Voltage reads 15.1 then down to 14.8 on my stinger meter. I go to check my 3400 with a DMM and it reads 13.78v WTF. So I check my amp wires they read 14.8 WTF. So I check the 3400 again it still reads 13.78-13.79. Then I check my stock it's reading 14.8. My wires are ran like this Alt POS to POS on 3400 Alt POS to POS on stock POS from 3400 to POS on amp. My questions are. Is my amp wires reading 14.8 but my 3400 is reading 13.78? Is it because my 3400 is fully charged so it's not accepting the c…

So I am in the market for some batteries. I like the Kinetik, however they are a bit rich for my blood at the moment. $699CDN for a single battery is a little steep. I have access to Stinger and Shuriken batteries at a really good price. The Shuriken batteries look to have similar specs with the Kinetik. I'm just looking for some opinions from others on these batteries. I am looking at the following batteries: 1) Kinetik HC2000 (x4) (one under the hood) 2) Kinetik HC2400 (x3) + HC800 under the hood 3) Shuriken SK-BT100 (x4) (one under the hood) 4) Shuriken SK-BT120 (x3) + SKBT35 under the hood While at Performance World I talked with someone at the Kicker truck about what…

Hey everyone. Was thinking of picking up a Crescendo Audio BC2000D amp to run 1 15" sub. My question is what kind and how many batteries do you think i would need? I have a 200 amp alt. and have done the big 3. The car this is going into is not a daily driver. Mostly just to car shows. Any help would be great. Thanks

So i replaces my stocker with a yellow top. I want to run a second battery as well, unisolated. I was advised against using the stock one with the yellow top. Ive been seeing builds where people do though. Are there issues here that i teally need to be concerned with or not? I believe the stock is an AC. Delco. Eventually when cag allows it i will match batteries but would this be ok for now?

I am somewhat new at this and feel I need to run more batteries, this was also recommended by a stereo shop near where I live however they would charge an arm and a leg to do the job. I was wondering on how to do this, I was thinking parallel, but I was wondering how both batteries keep charged....... Thank you Jonathan Thompson

So I plan on getting a battery for in the back soon and I was curious as to if it will hurt my battery in the front by getting an AGM for in the back. Also do I have to go with something that is in the range of power my amps are taking or can I go with something along the lines of a XS Power D545? Roughly with both amps I'll be in the range of over 1800-2200watts rated.

I was telling my dad how i am going to buy another battery for my truck soon, for audio, and he said that he thinks putting the battery in the cab is illegal? I'm not sure why it would be and i have seen almost everyone on here put them in the cab. Is it illegal? I live in Texas if that helps.

I was thinking... Deep cycles (ie. Yellow Top) are meant to discharge quite a bit over a long period of time, but starting batteries (ie. Red Top) are meant to discharge large amounts of current over a short period of time, like the starter. Now for our application, car audio, unless playing with the engine off for extended periods of time, wouldn't starting batteries be better? Music is quite dynamic, and as such, starting batteries would be better able to provide the bursts of current. Now I understand that purpose built batteries such as Kinetiks and Powermasters probably have high current in mind, but when using other batteries like Optimas, would a Red Top work bet…

First question: What is a "float charge"? I've heard the term a few times, but never what it means. Second: How do you maintain a "float charge"? Again, I've heard about it and from what i hear it seems like a good thing, but don't know how. Third: What are some "budget" batteries? I don't need to power a small country, but i would like a decent reserve, as my RF 200.2 beats up on my current battery, a somewhat old Interstate 1000cca. Fourth, and finally: What are some ways to help keep your batteries healthy, or functional for longer? Thanks guys! I forgot to add, that for the time being, i am using a Pyramid 3amp constant/4amp surge AC/DC converter to charge my battery,…

I'm getting ready to order 3 DEKA Intmidator cells from REMY through the ROE.com group buy... My question is....they have 100 Amps/Hour rating.....so 100x3 is 300 Amps/Hour on tap... Would that be enough to feed the 3000D's properly along with them being from what I read up on them(underrated) at 1000CCA's... and my Yellow-Top up front...all 0 gauge wiring, 2 runs of ground and power front to back....160Amp load boss alternator... Should this be enough to feed the amplifiers properly? I'm going with a wall and 2 15" subwoofers...undecided on the woofer as of now and I want to have enough voltage on tap...
