Kinda in a jam here guys. My Clarion HU has took a shit on me. I cant turn my volume up to test before it blinks, cuts off, and shuts everything down. After it resets it come right back on and it plays fine at a moderate to a quite loud level, but it's cutting off on me before I can get it to full volume. I need some opinions on a new one. What I want is a Pioneer 880PRS, but I don't have time to wait around on a used one to show up. I need one now even if that means finding one that does what I need and keeping my eyes peeled for something better. The options I need are unfortunately becoming obsolete and giving way to DVD, navigation, blue ticks and all that shit. I do…

Are there really any half decent HU's these days? Originally I was gonna go with a Kenwood eXcelon KVT-696. But I don't need a DVD player. I would have had this system done by now but I lost my job back in Jan and just found one. The rest of my system is: Subs: 2 IA Death Penalty 12" Dual 1 Ohm Amp: Sundown SAZ-3500D Speakers: Im still not sure. But leaning towards Polk speakers Speaker Amp: Kicker ZX350.2 Sub box: Probably something between 4.5-5.0 cuft net @ 33Hz My alt and battery will also be upgraded too. This will be going into a 06 Dakota Extended Cab.

  14. I drive a 08 mazda 6i sedan, non bose. I have a LOC with 2 pairs of rcas (front/rear). Right now I have a 2-channel amp for the front 2 speakers on the front rcas, and a monoblock for my sub on the back. Well I purchased a 4 channel amp, and 2 bass shakers (one for under eachseat up front). What I was planning on doing, is switching my 2 channel amp for the 4 channel, so all 4 speakers would be on the 4 channel amp, and the 2 channel with the bass shakers. The monoblock will be untouched, if it doesnt need to be. Do I need to just use rca splitters, or could I just run the 4 channel off the front RCA, and use the rca output of the monoblock to feed the 2 channel? Im afr…

  15. ok i know there is a topic here somewhere on this but i have searched using keywords and didnt find what i was lookin for. i would like to know what are suggestions to correctly power a sundown 3500. it is not s competition vehicle jus a daily driver. the speakers will be 4 fi ssd's ( i already own them) run @1ohm. most likely this will go in my ford escape which already has 0ga upgrade, kinetic 2400, batcap800 for electrical. i know i need an alt so i will get probably one runnin at 14-15v 300-400a. i might only compete once or twice but this is just for me to blurr my vision when i'm feelin it. how many batts should i add after i get the alt?

  16. Hi all, I will be using the Alpine Imprint Module with my Alpine iDA-x305S. My Question is, will I have to use the disc and mic tuning kit (KTX-H100) for tuning or when I plug the unit in; will it unlock all the tuning features of the imprint and I can tune it manually? because that's what I would prefer.. thanks.

I have an older 4 channel class AB amplifier that was made by Dragster Audio Art. Amplifier goes straight into protect. I asked Chris at dB-r a couple years ago and he said more than likely it was bad output fets. Chris does not work on older amplifiers like this anymore. I am looking for some feedback on Ampmedics more than anything as we know what kinda quality Mr. Mantz is known for. Here is a couple board shots of the amplifer. It is actually a great amplifier and was solidly built in the EU (European Union).

I was driving around pushing the system in my tahoe no harder than i usually do and it shut off. i get home and check fusing and all externals are good but 2 of the internal 40a fuses blew.. one has a huge black spot on it and left a bunch of nasty residue on the amp.. I plan to go out and just buy some more 40a fuses tomorrow but im wondering how in the hell it happened? connections in this vehicle are solid, or i would have blown ANL fuses. Does this happen when pushing a system pretty hard? Its just never happened and it has me concerned why it happened and COULD i have damaged my amp? Had this system up and running with absolutely no problems for about a year now. any…

I was talking to guy at the local shop and he got me thinking about pre-amp voltage and line drivers. I have a Pioneer 3200DVD with 4v pre amp outputs. He told me that a line driver would boost that voltage and make a night and day difference to my system. If someone could tell me how they work, and what it would benefit to me if I got one. Head Unit is stated above and the amp is a saz-2500d. He exclaimed it was needed, I don't think it is. He may of been trying to make a sale. Thanks in Advance!
