I want to make sure my amp is set correct so I am going to try and pick up a digital multimeter soon. I have never used before though. Do I need an expensive one or any work fine. (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_03482141000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2). Using the equation in the topic my voltage should be about 22.3v. What would I set the dmm in the picture too?

i have been trying to set my amps but am not getting a good reading im always getting 2. some odd volts then when i turn gain up i get OL. i was thinking since my amp is a pg xenon 600.1 that i would not be able to set it because the amp detects the ohms while the speakers are hooked up, i think thats how it works.

Am I able to use a DMM to see if the rear channel on my 4 channel amp is working? I've wired it several different ways and i've yet to get anything from the rear side. I'm assuming that there wouldn't be a reading if the channel wasn't working, but I really don't have a clue.

Im going to be strapping my 2 audiopipe apsm1300, essentially the master amp will control both amps. The amps strapped together are suppose to do ~2000watts @ 2 ohms. Is it possible to hook them up strapped and do DMM tuning by putting the probes on each amps terminal? The master amp is the + and the slave amp is the - ... does this work? ~63volt for the DMM meter... sqrt(2000 * 2ohm)

I am looking to but 1 18" BTL Fi subwoofer. I can build the box (i hope) and can do a proper job installing it. I have a sufficient enough amp sending 3500 watts continuous power its way. I have 0ga power wire ran 10ga speaker wire. But i have the stock alternator and battery. Is this a problem? would a nice cap handle the difference? Or what should i get to solve the problem?

I bought the SSA XCON 15D2 + SUNDOWN SAZ-1500D COMBO last year and in my receipt I got to the e-mail that's all it says, it doesn't say if it's the V2 or not. I'm supposed to go to an installer on Monday to get it wired properly as my last installers didn't do it correctly and he just called me and asked if it's the V2 or not since on the V2 you can connect 0 guage to it and he'll have to pick it up in the morning from his warehouse if I need it. I don't know which one it is, and it's installed in my suv and it's installed in the jack compartment so I can't easily get to it, the only end I can see is where the speaker wires connect to. I guess there isn't a way for me to …

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla Type S and I was wondering if any of you have the same car and have a system in it or have seen a system in a Corolla Type S? I need some ideas on setups. Right now I have a Batcap 800 in the trunk along with Dynamat in the trunk and under and on top of the rear deck, a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp powering 1 Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes ported tuned to 34hz. I already have a 70 amp alternator and have just a little bit of dimming. Do I need a bigger alternator or would a Stinger SP1000 battery and solenoid be enough or should I get a both the alternator and bigger battery/solenoid? A friend of mine said that if I get a bigger alternator that I should go …

So right now I am planning out my system. It is going to be about 2600 watts total, using either RF, Kicker, or Sundown amps. I have a 160 amp alt now as well as the stock 730 ampere battery. Of course I will be doing the big 3 upgrade. I am almost certain I may need another little battery just in case, a smaller Kinetik or so. What are the chances of me needing a bigger alt?

  14. Hi everybody, I'm getting rid of my rear speakers : I can't hear them with my 15" Icon playing! I will only keep my Focal 165 KP front speakers, but I don't want to go active. What should I do? Keep my current 4 channels amp and bridge it to the Focal? (This amp puts out 2*225 watts rms) Or sell it and buy a 2 ch amp (to save some power , and maybe some space and weight) I was looking at the Sundown amps : 125*2 or the 100*2. What do you think? What would you do?

i've got a crossfire vr2000d thats supposedly been modded to be .5 ohm stable and handle high voltage. it has 2 hookups each for power, remote, and ground. these all need to be hooked up right? how can i test the amp beforehand to see if i can run it daily at 1 ohm? it should do around 2800x1 @ 1 ohm, and i'll be using 1800-2kw of that for my 12's, so it wont be running full tilt but about 2/3. anything else i need to know before firing up this beast?

Okay about 6 months ago i hit the power cable on my amp and it fried the amp... i had to turn the gain way up to get the same output voltage. Anyways i didnt think much of it but i just spent 610 on a new sub and amp and do not want to mess anything up. Last week i checked the preout voltage and it was at 2.3v... its suppose to be 4. (deh-p590ib) Should i replace it. Do you think theres anyway it will cause amp clipping or distortion to ruin my speakers/amps/subs. I have used my system atleast 30 min a day for the past 6 months like this without any damage and there is no noticeable distortion, but i really dont want any of my new stuff to **** up a year from now thanks

I am going to start installing my system next week and I am going to add a 2400 amp kinetik battery in the cab of my truck. I have seen some people say that all I need to do to hook up the 2 batteries is run 0 gauge wire with a fuse connecting them. But I have also seen people say when you run 2 batteries you need to wire in a relay or isolator between the 2 batteries. What do most of you run? Specs: Stock Alt. Did a small build in my daily driver and have no dimming of tail/dash lights at normal listening levels. I have a Pioneer Premier DEH-P800PRS High Fidelity head unit. I was thinking about getting a processor. Since I have never owned any type of sound processor. my question is. Am I going to put this thing in line with my amps and make 19000db on the mic or will that 300$ investment barely be noticed?? My deck already has t/a, 16 band eq, 3 way active set up, I can adjust each individual speaker for gain and eq, so what will a processor do for me. is it really worth the money?

  25. I would like to ask this question as a thought experiment to determine if I am properly understanding the following relationships with wiring and power. Our speakers get AC out of our amps and our amps get DC from our power system. The DC power does not have frequency as it is a single flowing direct current and as such the flow of electrons through any wire have ZERO skin effect as skin effect is only applicable with frequency of transmission. What does play a part in power capacity however is the material of which the wiring is made of and how it is made. The total measured DC resistance of a cable of X size will be lower in copper material than it wi…
