im gonna be running 4 sa-12's, my electrical consists of 180 amp dc power alt (coming very soon), big 3, kinetic hc2000 under the hood and a hc600 in the back(all i could fit) so with that electrical, i need an amp that will power those sa-12's @1ohm. im thinking maybe 2500-3000 watts. has to be fairly small...maybe like 12 wide by like 22 long or so. i was gonna get the AP3000 but i dont have room for it unless i mount it on the backside of my box and i really dont want to do that. so any suggestions for amps that fit that criteria that will run with little to no voltage drop on my electrical in the 350 dollar range? i was thinking AQ2200D but i think the sa-12's would l…

Hey all.I have a question about wiring subs.I have 2 dual 4 ohm subs. Now I know to wire to 1 ohm i would connect + to + and - to - on each sub then run a wire from the + on one sub to the + on the other and the same thing with the -.Ok here is my question.I just got a different box today.I dont have enough speaker wire to do it the way i mentioned above and plus i would ave to run the wire behind the port and I dont know if that would be ok or not.So what i did was wire each sub to 2 ohm by itself by connecting + + and - - on each sub.SO,when i connect both subs to my amp that way will it still be a 2 ohm load or what will he load be?Thanks

(and you know who you are) ok. so as most of u have seen in my other thread, i have just added a seconed battery. only problem is that after playing for 3 or 4 mins, my volt meter and stuff goes back to the way it was befor. goes crazy when bass hits. So im going to do the big 3. i got to looking at my alternator yesterday and my wire going from my alternator goes to my fuse box. not to my battery. so what do i do? should i still updrade it, or just leave it and do the rest? any HELP is appreciated guys. I've decided to go ahead and keep my Dcon, but now I need a new amp. I'm on a tight budget and I found these two: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236RFL202/MTX-RFL202.html?tp=35757 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9037_MTX-Audio-XThunder-702X.html Both are right on my budget, but the main thing I'm looking at is that all the controls and inputs are on the same side. Where I'm mounting it (under rear seat) and the way my wires are already ran makes these two a good fit (my old amp was an MTX RFL600D). I've never understood the technical aspects of amps, so what I need to know is which amp would be a better choice?

ok, so like most people with systems, my lights dim ALOT, and my rpm's drop. my system is drawing around 150amps fropm my stock 95amp alt. i have a 1995 ext. cab ford ranger. i am installing a 2nd battery (deep cycle) and doing the "big 3" but i doubt itll be enough. here is a list of my system to give u an idea of the problem..... 2 12" mtx 9500's 1 kicker zx1500.1 1 kicker zx350.4 2 mtx 6x9's o & HID headlight kit (idk if it draws more power than stock so ill just add it in case). i want either dual stock alt. or 1 big one. the problem with buying 1 new big one, is that im afraid if i buy off ebay, or any other site for a fact, that the alternator itself doesnt put…

Hey guys i have a question. i searched around (and having fun learning) in the amp section and only found one person having the same issue as me but the problem was not resolved. so i will try to give as much info as i can so there will be no confusion. First off, i am very mechanically/electrically inclined but for some reason this problem has me stumped which usually calls for faulty equipment. second, this thread here is the problem i am having. it is on another forum but it is exactly what mine is doing. http://www.*****.com/board/topic/61561-amp-problem/page__hl__m1000%20hot so first off, my electrical. Big 3 soldered with 4 gauge Deka intimidator battery 9A78DT und…

I need some electrical upgrades for my 98 s10. But I dont want to get carried away. So far all i have is some cheap soundquest 4ga wire ran from front battery to amp. Amp is just a little audiopipe 1500d, but as it is right now my bass knob is a dimmer for any light in my vehicle lol. there is no way im dishing out the money for a HO alt on this thing. I have room in the back for 1 battery. Curious as to how small of a battery I can get away with. Going kinetik because its what I like. Honestly i would like to add a little HC800 or something and call it a day, but I dont know. My first step will be to upgrade my wires along with the big 3. question there is do you guys …

Hi guys, I found very good prices on these 2 amplifiers on Audiosavings. They're cheap (less than $450) and claim to be powerful. I am surprised by the fuse rating on both of them : they need 130 or 150 amp fuse only for +2000 watts. My current amp, a Sundown saz 1500 needs a 150 amp fuse. I know Cadence and US Amps are well known brands. How can that be ? Are their ratings legit, or are they overated ? I still want for my BTL N2. I will upgrade the electrical after I get the amplifier. I will add or change battery for an AGM one (probably an Optima Yellowtop) later. what do you think about these 2 amps ? zrs c1 and md3 ?

Hi , I will buy a 2500-3000 watts amplifier when I find a good deal. With my 2 amps (Sundown saz1500 and sax 50.4 bridged) I have no voltage drops, no dimming lights. But I know my stock battery will have trouble with a more powerful bass amplifier. I don't want to change that stock battery : it's 2.5 year-old but still very strong ! I did add a 0 ga wire from batt(-) to ground and another 0 ga wire from engine block to batt(-). I can't access the alt, it's under a lot of things ! Here is my question : how bad is it to just add an AGM batt in the back ? Will it hurt my stock batt ? I can have access to Yellowtop, XS, or Kinetic locally. The Yellowtops are the less expens…

I'm wondering if there are any differences between the 4200 and 4300 besides the pandora feature? Also does the 4200 charge/play music from a iphone 4? Thanks in advanced.

I was planning on upgradingg my electrical by replacing my main batt. I was thinking about a batt along the lines of a d6500. Max amps are about 3900 and ah is about 80. Should my stock alt, 110 amps, be able to charge the d6500 without a problem? Im just looking for a theoretical answer. Thanks for the help

It has 4 gauge inputs... I know its not a huge deal but I wanted to use 0 gauge with it. I know stinger makes 4 gauge to 0 gauge adapters but the way the inputs are on the amp those adapters won't work. Would it be ok to just trim the 0 gauge down or should I just get a 4 gauge amp kit?

Looking at the Audio Que 20 amplifier... and am wondering about the power claims they are making. I'm going as basic as you can get... the amplifier has 3 sets of 0 gauge power inputs. They claim the amplifier can consume up to 2,000 amps of current and over 1,000 amps of current consistently. Yet 100% ofc 0 gauge wire is rated around 250-350 amps of current up to 10'. Just looking at this, how can the amp be provided with the proper amperage at the correct voltage with enough inputs to only accept 750-1050 amps of current? Just wondering. Thanks for the help.

Hello, A friend of mine is asking me what can he chose for his new amplifier. He compete in spl, but want to play music too, so I think he should not get an amp to play at 0.5v daily. He has 2 18" subs (I guess Soundstream) with VC of 1.2 ohms. He can have a load of 0.6 or 2.4 for each sub, so 1.2 ohm for both. He will keep on upgrading the electrical system, but already has some AGM batteries in the car. I just thought about Stetsom amps. What brand should we look for ? What amps ? budget : let's say $1500 for amps. He will have shipping and custom taxes to pay. He's in a hurry, because the next local comp is on 02/20/2011. If you need more info, just ask. Thank you.

So I just installed (yesterday) my brand spank'in new Kenwwod KDC-X994. I soldered all my connections and I am using the units built in power to power my factory speakers. I am building a system and need tunes to hold me over so that's why I am running HU power. Today on my way to work I had that volume at 28/35 for one song. Half way through the song the volume slowly decreases and stays there for 5 seconds than slowly increase. Hmmm what the hell! I never had a HU do this. I continued to listen as the volume would fluctuate from "loud" to soft. I knew I didn't have a connection issue, just based on the frequency and duration that the volume was changing, it wasn't an ab…
