Hey so I was browsing woofersetc today and I came across this Clarion VZ400 Looks pretty nice for less than $400. I looked everywhere but I couldn't find a review. Anyone tried one of these or used a clarion head unit and know how they do? Looks like a steal to me so I'm just looking for second opinions.

I have a Kenwood x793 HU. I love the features on it. I use a USB 16gig thumb drive 95% of the time. I do compete. I am currently at around 146-147 db. The problem is the faceplate shuts off at high volume. This poses a problem as you can't turn the volume down or anything when it goes off. If I press in the faceplate it will not shut off. My question is has anyone ever had this issue and if so how did you fix it? I thought about soldering jumper wires from the faceplate to the HU. I never take the faceplate off. I'm not sure this would work or not. Thanks

  6. So i won't be in town for a couple of weeks and my bro will be driving my car... Him being in HS i know he will try to impress his friends, I specifically told him not to go above 30/35 on the H/U..... didn't tell him about the gain b/c i know he will try to turn it up if I told him I turned it down for hiim... To protect my sub I turned the sub amp gain all the way down today, but can still get some bass at full tilt, where is this power coming from? H/U? I thought turning the gain all the way down will= no power? also is it okay to keep the gain all the way down and play at full tilt? no clipping issues right? I understand the amp wont be clipping but what about the…

  7. alright so about a couple weeks ago i installed an alpine cda 105 unit for my expedition and i realized i have a bit of alternator whine. i grounded all of my wires quite well and even double checked the harness. everything is straight but at one point the whine stopped then came back, im not sure what to do. also, i can hear noise from my headunit menu selection sometimes, for example if i switch the inputs or select certain options it makes a click noise through the sub, is this a ground problem all together, or maybe faulty rcas? simple advice would be sweet.. thanks, john.

Just about an hour ago, I was listening to some beats. I stepped out of the car and popped the trunk to observe the sub itself for a second, I was using the remote (if this matters). I then paused it, got back in my car, turned the volume down, and when I looked back at the HU it was black. I pressed reset, turned the car on/off. Nothing seems to work. I don't think a fuse blew because the motor for the cd changer still works. Any ideas? Kenwood KDC X794

I've been looking at the audio control epicenter. I would like to put some Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Molly hatchet and so on in the cd player and actually have some bass. I know there are a few different bass restoration processors out there and I have a basic understanding of how they work. I've been searching this topic for better then a week now, but the info. I like to know doesn't seem to be easy to find. I see videos where a turn of the knob makes your subs start "doing work". Most of the topics I run across are either useless videos or "my subs are blown up". What I can't find is are they worth it? Yes there may be more output at the turn of a knob, but does it so…

I'm in the process if replacing a factory head unit in a guys 2006 Dodge Charger. I wen't to the local dealer to get a wiring harness because it was the only place around that carries the model that I needed. When I asked for it, he told me that the part I needed was $140 however, he would sell me a standard harness that would work for 25, but I would have to run a remote wire to the fuse panel under the hood. He said that the ignition wire would be useless and I would have to do something along the lines of wiring the remote, ignition (red) on the HU, and the remote from the fuse panel all together to get it to work. This had me puzzled, but I tried it anyway.. with n…

  11. Though I have a ton of old Sony ES head gear in my collection, I have decided to go modern for my wife's ride, a 2003 Aviator. I am pretty much sold on a touch screen double din unit, but I have been out of the "game" for so long that I really dont know what is "quality" anymore. I have been looking hard at the Alpine INA-W900BT.....but it only has 2volt outs??? I plan on keeping the rest of the system stock for now, definitely want to retain steering wheel controls(I know the Alpine requires an additional module). Would eventually like to go with a full blown SQ all active system, so I want to plan for the future. Reliability is must as well.... My question is....w…

My bro is looking for a head unit for the 2007 F150 he just bought. He's wanting a double din with these options: Blue Tooth capable Satellite Ready Nav System – Easily updatable (prefer no DVDs, but flexible on this) Traffic Receiver Back Up Camera capable He's looking at this: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ZeS1vjeeznh/I-rEMTcVSL/s_105NT3HDT/JVC-KW-NT3HDT.html?ssi=0&tp=27996 but I recall from my head unit shopping a couple years ago that gurus recommended to stay away from JVC. He's having trouble finding another brand with all of the options he wants. Any recs?

Hey guys, just trying to decide between 2 headunits. Both have the features I want. iPod connection, Hi-Volt Pre-outs, 3.5mm input, USB, nice display, basic EQ controls. Ease of use is a priority for me as well. Both of them are right in the budget I was thinking. I dont really care about HD/Sat Radio, or Bluetooth. Kenwood X794 Pioneer P7200HD I know some Pioneer's have the weird ground noise that pops up sometimes, so that scares me a little. But I love the fact that the USB and 3.5mm jack is on the front. That is a big thing for me. I would just like your opinions on which one would be the better HU, if either is better. Thanks guys.

Just recently i have experienced some problems with my system. 15" diamond audio hex pro & audioque 1200 (witch use to be a diamond audio 1200). At first i was experiencing a slight smell after a minute or so at loud volume. A friend of mine told me the capacitors in my diamond audio amp were frying. I then purchased a audioque 1200 and swapped it out with the diamond amp. At the first install the ground was bad so i moved it and scraped the paint. The slight smell came back even after switching the amps. I then started to experience the subwooofer fading in and out at times. One time it went completely silent and after turning the car on and off the sub came back on.…

So, I just picked up an 07 Mazda 3, and if you have seen these cars... they have a b*tch of a dash. (For aftermarket head units). I have already picked out a few dash kits and such. Plus, the mazda has steering wheel controls just for the radio so it would be cool if I could keep those if there is a head unit that I could hook up to those. And if not... then that is a bummer. So basically I'm looking for a decent head unit that can possibly hook up to the steering wheel. I would like the head unit to not look "out of place" as well. Basically not look like crap. Not to worried about budget right now until i get further into it but I would like some suggestions that fit my…

i have a jvc kwnx700, a TEAC 200 watt two channel, and a set of phoenix gold components. Recently, I bought a Fi Bl 12" , a sundown Saz-1500d, and an optima yellow top for the trunk. I wired up the batt with 1/0 welding cable and tested my high amp. it worked great. I hooked up the sub amp with 1/0 and using the old remote turn on from my previous sub set up. It didn't kick on. I then tried my remote turn on that i used on my highs. it still didn't power up. i then went back up front and found my radio off. that remote wire was spliced into the power for my HU. Could I have caused a short by yanking on it? Why wouldn't the sub amp kick on? any help would be greatly apprec…
