Ok, so iv been looking at power capabilities of wire sizes and im only running 4 gauge to the back of of my trunk. Now according to 12volt, with the length of the wire it will only be able to take around 600 watts rms of power. Would running my amplifier at 1 ohm, 1500 wrms, stress/overheat the wire? If this is true, maybe ill just run my amp at 4 ohms, (375 wrms) until i can run some 0 or 2 gauge wire once i buy it.

Hey I'm really looking to get a Fi Q but was wondering about the dual 2 ohm coils....are they really 1.75? And is it safe to wire them to a one ohm load on an Audioque 1200d amp?

Anyone have any inside info or guesses as to when car audio manufacturers will be using Toslink cables for connections. Stepping up from a decent RCA cable to a fiberoptic cable made a noticible differnce in my HT set up.

Well, I have to ask for help this time. I have a high pitched whine coming through my speakers, even without the car running, so it's not engine noise, but this one is strange. While troubleshooting, I grounded both the radio chassis, RCA shields (Pioneer FTL), regular ground, redone every ground in the car, ran new RCA's, etc etc. So I gave up last night, and decided to sleep on it. This morning, went back out to combat the problem, just turned the key to ACC, fired it up, and it was gone. Went to start the car, and it came back. So I did a little more troubleshooting, and went back in and figured out that with the key in ACC, there is no noise, but as soon as I tur…

  8. For over a year now I thought my amps were fully shutting down when the dome lights did. They have not been, but I didn't start suffering low volatge the next morning until recently.... which means that my batteries must have been stronger before but doing this over a year has damaged them marginaly. Today I was waiting for my GF with the ACC in the off. After 15 minutes the toggle switchs shut off and the deck shut off...as they should. I looked in back, sure enough the amps were off... wait... the red lights on the 3 KX amps were off and the blue display was off on the SX...but I saw a faint green glow. I stuck my head through the port and looked at the bottoms of the a…

Just recently went from 2 ohms to .5 ohms on my Crescendo 3500d and I heard that if you wire down you should always turn down the gain from where you had it originally. I'm really not sure if this is even remotely correct but I did it anyway to be on the safe side. I was just curious if someone could help me out.

  11. So as you all know I have been getting very mixed information trying to figure out what to do with my subs, my box and all that junk. Well I finally got a response from Bob at American Bass, turns out I am having such trouble finding info cause my speakers are 12 years old, although he says they are very good speakers, so I am still determined to use them with my setup. He informs me that I should run 300 rms to each sub, but once again my trouble is finding the info I need since these are dual 6-ohm speakers. I have been looking at tons of amps, monos, 2-ch, 4-ch bridged, you name it, I just can't make sense of it with the speakers I have, with my options being 3 ohm eac…

So I am looking for some help choosing an amp, but I need help because with my speakers I have the options of making ohm loads at either 0.86, 1.26, 1.5 or 3.43. I am looking to push a minimum of 900 and a maximum of 1200 watts continuous. My absolute price limit would be 250, but the lower the better, I'm actually looking for the cheapest that I can get away with while still meeting my requirements.

I need some advice on how to tune my system. I've got the following...yes they are a bit old but in great condition. Alpine CDA-7844 SoundsStream Rubicon 404 and 702 amps MB Quart 6.5" components with MusiComp crossover MB Quart 2 ways with regular crossover for rear. The 404 is driving the mids/highs and the 702 is hooked up and ready for when I buy a sub. My question is how do I got about figuring out what to set the gains at? Also do I need to set the 404 to high pass and 702 to lowpass? If so, what frequency should I set them each at? The HU has a setting for the "bass control center frequency". I can choose 60, 70, 80 100hz. Default is 100. Not sure if I shou…

My question is will these two be ok ran together? I thought someone told me the batteries must be the same, but I could be mistaken. Thank you for the input.

So I just picked up a box and 2x10 Rockford Fosgate subs for my Ram. So the subs are 4 ohm 150watt RMS each with a peak of 300watt. Here's the problem. I listen to rock mainly so I don't care about a TON of bass, but I do like a good amount. The subs are bridged or whatever, and that's where I don't know what amp to get without spending a fortune. The two subs don't have two wires each I guess that's what bridged means? So my question is, what channel, RMS, ohm all that stuff, what would be the best amp for me? I'm so lost and the audio guy near my house is just trying to make money off of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Arc Audio SE-2150se, and I have it in mono mode, running at 2 ohms to my fully loaded, D1 18'' fi btl. Everything works fine, but I wanted to turn it up this past weekend to show of to my friends, so when I turn up the amp, from 1/4, to 3/4, it sounded much louder. But when I turn it up, the protect mode light will flicker red, just for when the bass drop, now I know this can't be good. It goes back green, but when ever the bass drops, a big one, it will just flicker red for that one second. Can any body tell me why this is, and is it safe to play it that loud? Not daily, I'm not stupid, but whenever I want to show off for a song or two, can I or should I play it…
