Okay I am some what new to this forum. I have been reading it for quite some time now and see that everyone is pretty helpful. I have a couple of questions about the Fi Audio Btl 18. I see that it comes in dual 1 or dual 2. Well I have a kicker sx 1250.1 and it does about 1310 at 1 Ohm. I was thinking about getting another one and strapping them to power just one fi audio btl 18. Well from what I have read strapping the two kick sx 1250.1 amps together will give me a 2 0hm load which I unfortunately do not want but do you think I can connect either a dual 1 or dual 2 to the amps with out effecting the sub or the amps. I figured if anything it would effect the amp since I …

Whew... Got my new head unit installed as well as the steering control module, thanks to the help of Electrodynamic. Looks good but the installation of the steering control module (PAC SWI-ALP) was a little more involved than I anticipated. Still very happy will post pics soon!! PS- Sounds really good.

So I've done some research and lots of reviews and people all point to Alpine. I would basically like to know what would be better for me, a 9885 or a 9887? Mostly I'll be using my iPod for the music source, but occasionally I'd play CD's or a friends CD. I drive a 1990 Honda (Yes I know really old) and basically I'm just upgrading my sound system; new speakers and a sub will come with this. But I would like some imput from a 9885/9887 user or ex user and if it's the right choice for me. Also, what is the big difference between the 9885 and 9887 for a 50 dollar difference? Thanks

I've been doin a little research so stop me if i'm wrong. I need an EQ, large band, so that when i setup my amps, i can get the amplitude on as many frequencies as possible to their max potential without clipping because the output power on all frequencies is not the same... Ok, so, i found out that graphic vs parametric... parametric eq is better for this because of it's larger bandwidth. So, this is the only thing i have came up with, let me know what u think if it'll work for me or anything else you can think of- Audiocontrol DQS - it has 30band but do not know if it's graphic or parametric... Audiocontrol DQXS - it has, hehe, 142! I dont think it matters what type …

Okay, so I just hooked up all of my system last night. It worked flawlessly all last night, and this morning. So today, after work, I got in my car, turned on my radio, and my amp and everything turned on and my sub was playing, but I now have no music. At all. I know this is probably a n00b thread, but please help! I'm dying without my sub lol

So I was demoing my Sundown 1500 amp to some guys, and thought I may have heard something that sounded like some slight whirring. I didn't think it was anything to worry about as everything was sounding fine, I turned everything off and turned off the car. When I started up the car the next time: nothing. Checked all fuses, they were fine. Not even going into protect. Any ideas? It is quite hot out there today, as well.

So I recently traded a Kicker 350.4 for two Tang Band W6-1721 drivers and now I have a question. I have never thought of this before and don't remember seeing it done, but on a four channel 2 ohm stable amp could you run two channels at 4 ohms and the other two at 2 ohms? I want to have the Tang Bands up front with my Tantric 6.5 components and in the rear doors have a second set of Tantrics.

Got a super old school 40x4 sony from a buddy of a mine and he said it worked. Spent all day running all the wires, got it hooked up and the power light comes on.. But there is something wrong, the only way I can describe it is a very loud thumping every second or so.. I have 2 sets of rca's ran and I think that could be the problem is me not having them set up right. On the back of my head unit I have the rca's hooked up to the sub amp fine. Then I have 2 pre-outs one set for the front and one set for the rear, well on the amp there is a,b,c,d and I'm not sure how this should be set up.. And the 2 sets of rca's are different idk if that makes a difference. Is this amp bl…

Hey guys, I've received good information in my other topic so I thought I'd come back for some more. Got some questions to do with the setting on my sub amp and head unit Currently I'm running a infinity reference 611a amp powering 2 infinity 1050w subs but I'm looking to move up to a single 15". my head unit is a pioneer deh-p80mp and I play all my music off my multi-media player via aux input but the devices output is really quiet so with the way my setup currently is, the maximum I put my head unit to is 55 out of 60. I thought that head units have a point at which they clip but I can't hear any distortion. So I don't know if this is a problem or not. The way the sub a…

One of the big things that changed while I was gone from car audio is the 4volt plus rca outputs from head units. My situation is I really want to use an Alpine 7904s or 7903s as my source. These units do not have high voltage line outs but can an Audiocontrol Three.1 fix that for me or is there a better way? Pre-Amp Line Driver: Amplifiers require a high voltage input signal (generally 2 to 5 volts) to operate with maximum dynamic range and the best signal-to-noise ratio. On the other hand, typical source units only produce 1 to 2 volts, if your lucky. In a system where the source unit is located in the front of the car and the amplifier(s) are located in the rear, the…

I'm running two 1200w amps in my Ram1500 to power two 12s and a front stage. I was having power issues so I swapped out my stock battery for an xs power D6500 (biggest I could fit), upgraded the alt to a singer 270amp, upgraded all wiring to 0ga, and put in a big 3 kit. That being said, on full tilt every so often I'll lose my components as the battery can't keep up when it slams for a few minutes. I'm building a bigger box for the 12s I've got, so while I'm at it I'm going to have my builder make room for an additional battery in the cab (it's a quad cab, so not a huge amount of space back there). The installer told me he'll be putting an isolator in as well. Here's …

I have a Boston acoustics pro 12.5 sub(4 ohms) in custom box at Boston specs (sealed 1” mdf). It is rated at 1200w rms and iam now using a 600w rms(Hertz class D). Although it sounds pretty good, cant help wondering how much difference a 1000-1200w amp would sound compared to the 600w amp. Need advice from people with experience trying different amps with the same sub.

ok well i had a 130 amp high output alternator in my car, but it would whine every time i turn the car on for about 5 mins on n off depending on the electrical drain. so i reinstall the stock alternator, ( if someone knows what a stock 96 accord ex 2.2L alternator amp rating is tell me) there is no whine now which means there is no straining at idle. i no that the high ouput alternator i got is 130 amps at 1200 rpm, n prolly lower than stock at idle, but now with the stock alternator in, the lights dim bad, i can definitely tell. before with the High output alternator i didnt see much of my lights dimming. i do have a 1 farah cap in the trunk. now i was wondering because …

I have been using a stock HU with a LO convertor.... and I want to get the most out of my system. Problem is, I have a tahoe and I don't want to kill the functionality of onstar / anything else. What I want is a touch screen radio that is reliable and has good eq adjustments. I also need to plug my Ipod into it..... nav isn't really needed but it would be nice too. I was wondering if any of you would have some suggestions? Thanks
