so, i got this Linear Power amp (model 2202) from one of my friends to hook up to my other friends little sub. its 2 channel. and its 11x2. his sub is a little MTX 4500. so its the right amt of power. the amp just looks so old. the power, remote, and ground wires are sticking out (connected internally...?) i have searched Google to see if its bridgeable. no luck. only found a little info. questions: 1. is it bridgeable? if so, how? the + and - setup is like this: [ - [ + [ + [ - 2: is the amp a P.O.S.? any other important info on this amp? or this brand? only thing i found was: http://www.linearpower.com/detail/2202.html more info: 2 x 110W @ 8 ohms (12.5V) 1 x 250W…

So after getting another battery that i had layin around and my trusty 250a battery charger, i hook the battery up backwards because someone decided they'd have a black wire for + ...lmao scared me a lil bit as sparks flew everywhere... Ok but i get it hooked up and it still cuts off as the charger has 12low, med, and high. High usually runs my voltage up to 16 and into dangerous levels, so i turn it up and then go turn the battery charger to high, and voila. I had the gain turned all the way down and my trunk was about to kome off. I'm not really quite sure if the SX's can take it,lol. I let it play for about 10mins, the cones were extremely hot, so i gave it a break. …

Never heard a deck so clear before.... my subs clip at high volume now but that another storey.... I'll just turn the gain down I've only had about 1 hour in the car listening to it but I'm very impressed and very happy with it..

and man was it a pain in the ass but for $110 brand new I cant really complain. Well my old battery went out on me cuz it was some crappy energizer battery and it was under full trade in warranty sooooo I pulled it out jumped in my dads lil 86 civic and rolled away got there and asked if I could upgrade the energizer for the optima at a discount. They told me I could get full value for the energizer applied to the optima yellowcap ($80) plus I got another $10 off because they price matched checker auto =). So I got the battery took it home and this is where the trouble started... I plopped it into its place and tried to through the stock terminal connections on there... y…

I'm planning a build and i'm thinking about amp placement. I know that amps should be grounded around 18" or less but i've seen builds where the grounds are four plus feet, anyone care to shed light on this, is it ok if excellent wire is used? BTW the build was from a person whos name that can't be mentioned.

Ran across this on the eBay and thought it looked like a great buy, especially for someone looking for a simple all in one solution for an active setup. The Zapco I5100 is a seven channel amp that is rated for 50wrms x 4, 25wrms x 2 and 400wrms x 1 all @ 4 ohms. By bridging the 4 channel section you get a rated 175wrms x 2 plus the 25wrms x 2 and the 400wrms x 1 and the sub section is rated 600wrms x 1 @ 2 ohms. In my mind the 2 x 175 would be great for a mid, the 2 x 25 would be great for tweeters and the sub section great for many subs on the market. It seems like a fantastic solution to simplifying an active setup as far as the amplification is concerned and at …

I've been trying to trouble shoot my hissing noise for a while now and don't know where else to look. When the sub amp is hooked up, the subs have a slight crackle, and the tweeters hiss. But when I unhook the remote to the sub amp the highs are fine. I've moved all of the grounds in the back around to a few different places. I've also tried grounding the head unit, and checked the rcas and tried a different set of rcas. Also added a relay. Grounding the hu kinda lessened the hissing in the highs, but not too much. I don't really know where else to check. I was thinking about just getting a new hu to see if mine is taking a shit...Any advice?

i plan on running a power and ground directly to my amps from under the hood. i dont really want to ground into the trunk. does this make a difference? i am also going to do the big 3 upgrade. kicker zx2500.1, and a zx650.4 are the amps. 2 optima 34/78 yellow tops.

I know the smaller length of ground wire the better but what do they mean by small? like 3 feet and under...i really want my amp to be closer to my car cabin instead of by the trunk but thats means my ground would be about 4 feet...is that too long?

I want some people's opinion on this so i get a better understanding... So, i have 2 amps(u guys know the ones, hehe) that i need to hook up soon taking for granted they work. Now, this is how i have it, but was told to change it so they both are wired the same but have a question so here it goes. One amp is grounded through the battery bank. The other amp is grounded to the chassis. Why? Because the other amp's ground length was a LOT shorter going directly to chassis. I have always heard do not use no more than 1 meter length of ground... Why? If i use 2/0 power and ground, how far can that cable be ran using ground before a problem(what problem) arises? They told me…

sorta noob question but ive never had this particular predicament before Would it be ok to run 4 awg from the ground on the batt to my amp and run 1/0 from the+ batt to a distro to my amp. i know the ground and power have to be the same awg when putting them into a amp. my car has a very poor ground in the trunk and this option will save me some money an time until i can get more 1/0 to run from the front to the back. my amp has 4 awg inputs so would i be ok doing this since i would be using both 4awg for ground and power. i do plan on upgrading the the gound to 1/0 since im goin to add a few batts but this is only temp for maybe a month.

I am putting in 3 external batteries in the back of my suv. The batteries are obviously going to be grounded to the chasis. I have been confused on whether it would be better to ground the amps to the chasis as well or if it would be better to run the ground to the batteries. The batteries are each going to have 2 runs of 1/0 to the chasis. Which is a better idea?

I have been debating on how to ground multiple runs of 1/0 for my upcoming install. So I figure weld some 5/16 bolts to a length of steel channel bar, then weld that to the body of the car. this would give multiple point fors grounding and I wouldn't have to rely on screwing ring terminals to the sheet metal and risking it coming loose.

The post jumps around a bit but I try to provide as much information as possible. The main issue I have is it seems as though my voltage drops more then it should. The alternator charges at 13.3 at idle and only kicks up to around 14.1 when I am going 30-35+mph. I do have a Singer 370 which is being shipped on Friday, not sure if its gonna fit yet but we will see haha. My voltage full tilt usually drops down slowly to 12.2 after about 20seconds of play and sits there, never seen it go under 12.1 which is good but I still think it should be higher. Even when on the highway going 70mph the voltage will drop from 14.1 to 12.3. Im running a Zed leviathan which is running a…
