Well guys maybe one of you can help me out. I have/had in my SUV a Tc sound axis 12 and was playing it on my orion 275rhcca amp at 1ohm and it was slammin UNTIL it started to rattle So after i removed it from the box i noticed that the whole spider assembly came unglued from the basket/spider landing . Now this is my question I'm sure that its covered under warranty but what are my chances of reglueing it my self? It's not about if i can do it but rather will it be worth it in the long run so to speak. I don't think it will be a problem aligning the coil as it seems to rest snugly in one spot where the LITTLE bit of glue originally was. I have a pair of them and I'm …

Hello, I have a little problem and don't know for sure how to solve it. I have two FI 15 inch subs and am running two 5200 watt amps. They are wired seperatly but are drawing power from the two 850 amp batteries originally in the van and two additional Kinetik 3800 batteries wired parallel. The problem is that I burned up a brand spanking new 250 Amp alternator from Excessive amps. I am new to this and don't know if trying to draw the 10400 watts from the batteries overworked the amp or what... Any idea what I have wrong that I need to fix?? Many thanks I appreciate it.

  3. Tech Flex is something that I have always loved using in my installs. It not only helps to protect the wire I find that it has a number of other uses as follows: Color Code Wire Bundle Similar Wires Link the Wire to the theme of your iinstall Refresh otherwise "bad" looking wire In this thread I would like to share my process for covering a wire in techflex as well as some of the techniques I have learned for working with it. In this example I am going to be bundling two RCA cables together to make a 4 channel run that is tied together at one end and seperate at the other. It looks like this when complete: Lets begin: To start I prepare my wire and tech f…

Source: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_9_4/feature-article-active-speakers-12-2002.html The Benefits of an Active Speaker Lifestyle December , 2002 Colin Miller Introduction This article compares passive loudspeaker systems which use a single power amplifier to drive an entire loudspeaker array through passive crossover components (capacitors, inductors, and resistors mostly) between the amplifier and actual drivers, and active loudspeaker systems, where the crossover components are placed between the preamplifier (processor) and power amplifiers, so …

So I’m getting pretty sick of free handing all my boxes, jigsawing and using screws, my question is what size table saw does a guy need to do basic boxes; like max 24” cuts. Also, what kind of nailer and gauge nails do I use to replace screws? bonus tip* routers? Which one is a good buy to do cutouts and round overs? Thanks ALOT!

  6. I get a lot of PM's with comments that go like this... "I'd like to be in the upper 13's or even 14's full tilt", & hoping for that with one, maybe two alternators on 12,000 watts of power." There are two main sources of power in your system. One is the alternator, which is around 14.5 volts, & the other is the battery, which is 12.8-13.3 at best. So basically two voltage levels, 13.0 & 14.5,... & a very, very small gray area in-between those two numbers. The higher voltage source is the one producing ALL the current until the voltage drops to the next highest source, then that one will start helping. That's why you see voltage go fr…

i found this, so im passing it on..... Car Batteries What you need to know about your vehicle's battery. Most of us don't think much about the battery in our vehicle; we simply turn the key and expect the engine to start. We expect the battery to be reliable, long-lasting and maintenance-free. Once it fails, however, odds are you'll have to replace it, and knowing which type and size battery you need is important. Will it be conventional, maintenance-free or recombination? Conventional Batteries A 12-volt automotive battery has six compartments or cells. Each cell has a series of alternating positive and negative plates separated by isolators. All negative plates in th…

Hello all, as the title says I have some USB problems. What I mean is I had put songs on 2 separate drives and only a small portion actually play through my HU. I tried searching through the drive from my HU and pick a song that wasn't playing and it won't play. But when I plug the USB into my computer or Xbox it shows and plays every single song. I have also tried putting songs on in sections and every single song works, but when I put all the sections together it doesn't play them all. My friends usb's play all the songs no problems. So maybe my computer is a POS and won't put them all on? Idk, does anyone have any tips or advice?

I figured this was the place to ask, since I cant seem to find anything after searching Google. I want to be able to plug in my USB drive to my Pioneer's IP-BUS interface and control my music from the HU, but Im not sure how to do it. I know the CD-UB100 does this exact thing, but I cant find any used ones for sale (I should have bought one a while ago when I found it new for $35 ), so I'm wondering if there is a way to DIY on making a USB input through the IP-BUS connector? I have found pinouts of this connector, but the onle pins they list are grounds and left and right audio. This would only be good for a 3.5mm stereo cable, which is what I have now. Im wondering…

  11. Not sure if this was posted yet, but I thought I might put together a little guide on how to determine where a song peaks. Go to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and download for your applicable OS. Install it and everything open it up... Drag and drop your song from Itunes, etc. You should end up with something like this.. Select a portion of the song you want to anylize or you can do CTRL+A to select the entire song. Go to Analyze then to plot spectrum, you may get an error "Too much audio was selected. Only the first XXX.X seconds of audio will be analyzed. That's fine just click, OK. This window will then pop up, on the lower left of your screen change t…

Well, as you can see by the title, I'm experiencing some significant voltage drop at my amp. It's an SAZ-1000d and my alternator is a 240a Iraggi. I have just one battery under the hood. It was sitting idle at about 13.3 at the battery and amp. Full tilt on music, it stays at 13.3 at the battery, maybe dropping .1v, but at the amp, it can drop down into the 11.5 range. The wiring for the amp is probably too small, it's a 4 gauge wiring kit I got pretty cheap on sonicelectronix.com, so I'm guessing that is probably my problem. The amp says it uses 4awg, but the 4awg I have might be on the small side, I'm not sure. What do you think?

I have two 100watt rms Floor house speakers, they are 3-way and are 12" in size with a 4 inch midrange and a 2 inch tweeter. they are sanyo AVS 500 series, there is no info anywhere for these speakers. They sound great except at high volumes they do not have a crossover in them at all, which I think is kind of dumb on the company's part, these are good sounding ported house speakers that bump pretty good, they can get the walls rattling and there from the 90's. I would like it if anyone had any ideas to what frequency crossover I should get, as in what frequency's should i aim for, for these speakers? they can hit down to 30hz very nicely, and you can even slightly hear …

  16. So i'm putting the order into Soundqubed in about a week for a 3500. I want to do everything I can to keep it in good condition. I have seen people mount amps using rubber bushings, washers and spacers. and I have seen plenty of "straight to wood, seatback" amp mounting. I definitely want to put it on bushings of some sort or build an amp rack, maybe a combination of the two. I was also wondering about separating the amps mounting postion from the subs, box and trunk area to try and reduce hard vibrations as much as I can. Is this necessary? How do I mount the amp with rubber "feet" so to speak? and where do I get them? Should i separate the subs from the amp? Just for…

  17. Figured I'd post some stuff up seeing as how it has been a hot topic as of late. The biggest problem with rewinding a stock alternator is the fact that most winders do nothing more than rewind the stator for additional output. This does nothing but increase upper RPM output and decreases the cut-in RPM. This is the RPM in which the alternator begins charging. This can be controlled with a lower cut-in regulator, but that is just a band-aid. The alternator will still produce nothing more than stock output at a low RPM. When looking for a GOOD unit, make sure to ask the manufacturer how the alternator was built. You want to look for one that has had a rewound rotor a…

  18. I have an old school 10" Orion Cobalt subwoofer that has a perfect coil, but needs a new surround , dustcap and spider. Does anyone know where I can buy these kind of parts individually for relatively cheap? MAT Electronics has everything I need for VERY cheap, but I think you have to have a minimum order of $30 before shipping costs, which sucks considering the parts I need are less than 5$ for everything.. I don't need anything extreme as far as parts are concerned.. Just a simple spider that I can attach to a 2" coil and a foam or rubber surround to make this sub playable again. More for a fun little project and to have a speaker to play with than anything which is why…

Nothing is standardized and the accuracy of everything is questionable and typically quite subjective. In this thread, I would like to address something I would like to see standardized and that is the sensitivity of loudspeakers. There are a lot of you car audio nuts that are afraid to run home audio drivers in your car due to the fact they are 8ohms, but you really shouldn

Hey, I've got 2 1ohm dvc subs and just wanted to make sure I wire them up correctly. seeing as this is my first "real" system I don't want to hurt it so soon. the saz3000d connectors are in parallel inside the amp. so if I were to run my system like so, would this show the amp 1 ohm? Thanks in advance.

hey guys does anybody know how you would wire this qvc beast? I know you would take a pair of the voice coils and wire them to an amp. So im guessing you would do the same to the other side. Heres my question, when wiring separate sides of the speaker to its amp would you wire as you normaly do or is there a special way? IM goin to put one amp per pair of coils, i just want to make sure i get 1ohm power from each. so would i just wire each side to 1ohm or is there a special way with a qvc sub?

I've watched over and over on YouTube how to wire two batteries in a car. I'd have one as my main starter battery and one in my trunk. Do I just have the positive from my main battery go to the positive on my second battery? (fused of course) and the negative just go to the ground and I'm all set? And another question, having this battery setup, will it put more stress on my alternator? Thanks I appreciate the help.
