so i finally hooked up my new yamaha 661 with my new behringer ep 2500. just used my sub out to an rac to an rca.xlr adapter. just temporarily hooked it up to my ported kicker til i decide what ht set-up i want. now here's my problem. there is almost no output from my sub, with much more power then my speakers i can't even hear it because when i turn it up my new ep2500 almost instantly goes into clipped and kills the signal. any ideas? i'm such a newb to ht it hurts

As some may know i'm using a Seas CA18rnx and a cheapo tweeter as the mains. I've bought a pair of Peerles HDS tweeters and now it's time to design something better that what i have now. 1st problem are the enclosures. I'm currently running QSC pro amps and a pair of Magnepan MG-IIB's, the sub stage will be covered by Mach 5 audio MAW-15's in stereo. I've been listening to my BBBIB's more and more and I'm loving the sound more than my maggies, plus I'm itching to build something knew. What are some good Home theater Recievers? I am looking to start piecing my HT setup and would like to start with a good Reciever that puts out decent power that doesn't hurt the bank... Im looking at either a 5.1 or 7.1 looking to stay under 400 bucks..

I have a set of older cabinet speakers with 15" subs. The foam surround has disintegrated for a lack of a better word. I'd like to keep the speakers. The cabinet was made by a friend out of birch many years ago and he did an amazing job with them. Where or how would one go about getting them replaced, and if so, would it be worth the cost and expense. I'd do it myself if it was easy enough. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just kinda throwing this out there...but for christmas my family is doing a secrete santa deal... with the rules being for the person you pick, you buy them one or multiple gifts that add up to one hundred dollars. I got my older brother this year... and one of the things on his list was a home stereo amplifer for surround sound. Car audio is more my thing, but home stereo stuff... I have nooo clue. Is there anything somewhat decent that I could get him for like $100 or less? If not, he has plenty of other things on his list. Thanks to all who can help me, and an early merry christmas to all!!

i have a KLH 10" side firing powered sub. On the amp it has speaker terminals and i remember reading and seeing pics in the manual about hooking speakers up to that same amp but I do not remember what it said and I do not have the manual. Does anyone know what I am talking about, sorry I can not explain it any better. If you know what I am talking about how would I hook up more speakers?

Yeah. Yesterday, I was slamming, and playing some tones. Today, most of the fluorescent lights in the next room don't turn on. That room is separated by two double walls though. Coincidence? The bulbs aren't broken, but they don't ignite, like the starter is busted. Just wondering if others have had similar problems in their HT.

I'm having trouble finding sites that sell pre amps in the 250-300$ range besides audiogon. Ive been trying to find something new and it has to have a remote. Any links or sites in general would help a lot. thanks, Aron G

I used a parallel notch filter calculator to determine the values for L,C,& R for a trap attenuating 12db between 12k and 14khz. This will be used with the Dayton RS52's I purchased for my Blazer. The values given were: C- 30.03uf L- .75mh R- 2.65ohm I found the cap and inductor on PE's website, but the resistor is confusing me. I'm under the impression the resistor has to be rated for the wattage being used with te speaker, right? If this is so, I'm having a hard time finding a resistor of such little resistance @ 50 watts or better. At this point, I figure I'm near over my head. I figured the home audio guys could help here! I am going to put this here since it somewhat relates. What is everyone using? I will be purchasing one soon ... missing some TV shows/sports games on nights that I stay at work late is not going to cut it anymore, and I do not want a VCR. I have not read into them much. I just want something fairly basic with a small-medium sized HD that is capable of 10+ hours at the very minimum.

Hello. I am currently wanting to redo my setup to a nice bookshelf, center channel, and sub setup. I already have a nice sub so I'll keep that and use what I have now for something else. My budget is about $600 for the the bookshelfs and the center channel. I currently have these speaker stands http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...FTOKEN=79969804 and wish to keep them. However, I think this may restrict the height of my bookshelfs. The center channel will be placed under the TV. Any suggestions?

i scraped the spherical speaker idea and that means i need a large format tweeter what i have now is a pair of ca18rnx's and a pair of cheap-arse tweeters. i'm looking to upgrade the tweeters and i need some advice since i don't know what to choose. budget : $100 for the pair. i'm just looking for something laid back and not harsh. I don't have a ton of room, maybe 6-8 ft^3 or a little more if I push hard for it. Looking to build an enclosure that'll really bring out the low end <20Hz and have an upper cutoff around 60-70 Hz.
