  1. Ive been thinking about building a box for the home theater. my tv is about 48" wide, and at the back, its about 40" wide, but it is only about 16" deep, so theres lots of room behind it in the corner and I was going to build a triangular box to fill the empty space. I already have a old RF stage 1 12. I see the Fs and VAS specs used alot for HT and this subs Fs isnt too high at 27 and the suspension must be somewhat loose at 80L equivalence, not real high, but better than most subs Ive come across. rest of the specs can be found here. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/scripts/rightnow.cfg/php.exe/enduser/fattach_get.php?p_sid=FtNpc2Kj&p_tbl=9&p_id=273&p_created=…

Alright, so I have built and done some pretty crazy custom car audio builds and projects. I now live in the city of Chicago, and don't spend much time in the car so have sold most of my equipment. I still love my Hybrid Audio 4" mids, and would now like to incorporate them into a home theater system. I work for Best Buy as Magnolia Home Theater professional, and have tons of knowledge in the field, but this will be my first time building a home theater system from components. I have two pairs of the Mids, so 4 4.75" midrange drivers. I want to start this system by building a really nice pair of tower speakers. I was thinking of using a nice wood and maybe staining …

  3. Just recently acquired a pair of Klipsch Epic series CF-2's and a Klipsch SW-12. I am currently running the speakers off a yamaha rx 395. all circa 1995. The speakers sound amazing! They are able to get very loud and still play very clear. I love them. I cannot say the same for the sub. The sub was blown when I got it (got it all for free from pop). I am looking at putting in a new Dvc 4 ohm sub in it. I am not sure which I should go with. I was suggested a dcon or 187. The amp is 150 rms into 8 ohms The enclosure is a 12" bass reflex enclosure with 12" passive radiator. dimensions are 23.5" H x 15.625" W x 16.49" D. What sub would work best with this enclosure? Are the…

http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...roducts_id=8232 How does this crossover look. Im considering buying 3 sets for LCR and these seem to be reasonable and could buy all 3 sets for less than $450.

Hi all, I am new to the "Pro sound" thing but just putting some ideas out. I am in an alternative band in High school and we are starting to get some bigger gigs and we were thinking about some subs. I have made a few sub boxes for my truck so i just started thinking about making some for the band. I was looking and partsexpress.com and saw that Dayton makes a nice looking 18'' driver for a pretty decent price. Any ideas. This is really a low budget kind of thing but I like nice chit if that makes sense. Thanks in advance, Mike B.

Does anybody have experience with Dayton plate amps (namely this one)? I'm in the process of building a small, compact subwoofer setup for my dorm room on a budget, too (read: less than $150 for amp, preferably). Any other suggestions for amplification? The sub is the Sundown E12 prototype (dvc 4), so I'll most likely be running at 8 ohms.

I have someone who called my store today (we do car audio). And he asked if we did stereo's in offices. Well we don't but i do setup home stereos. So i figure how hard can it be. Well apparently alot more so than i thought. He is coming by later today with a floor plan and the exact stuff he wants. He wants to have volume controls in 7 different rooms. Its a chiropractic office. So he wants to be able to adjust the volume independantly. He didn't mention PA functions but i'm sure he'd like to have it. So basically what i'm asking is what do you think would be good hardware for this application. I was doing some research and found these Bogen in ceiling. http://…

I've got an 06 RE XXX 12 which I was going to sell. Screw it...I'll just keep it. I am not really concerned with saving space. I'm looking for something to play with music more than for movies. It will be in a rather large room (my living room and kitchen are connected without a dividing wall). Can anyone guide me as far as box size and tuning? I can do the rest. I'll be powering this with a Crown XTi 2000 (2000 watts into 4 ohms). Thanks

What is usually used to mount all the parts? Piece of wood? Plastic? How do you ground the parts also. I was looking at pictures on madisound to get an idea and i understand that a ground has to be grounded to metal but how do i attach the metal to the base? Do i need to build one crossover for each bookshelf speaker?

I have a pair of brand new cerwin vega vs-150 woofers from the mid 90's. They are in mint shape. I need to build an enclosure for them but not sure what would work best. I found the original specs of the enclosure and calculated it to 5.1 cuft gross. They use a dual port design but obviously no idea of tuning. What would be a range I need to work with for port tuning and port area? I can estimate displacement but that's about all I have to go on. Not too familiar with building anything for an actual woofer. Thanks! Here is a pic for reference

Well I picked up this turntable from work. It is an interesting looking turntable and I just wanted to see if anyone Knew anything about them. Here's the pictures. It is a simple set up as far as the platter goes. Single belt driven but I think that the motor is shot. So I need to find on of those. The Tonearm was messed up too so I will need a new tone arm. And it is missing the Top Glass piece. WE had two of the turntables, the one i have is less complete. The other one is complete and the motor works so I got the shit end of the stick. Well if anyone knows anything at all about the tables and possible replacement parts, please let me know. Thanks.

Well im trying to contact Jacob from sundown about those SI bm 10's he reconed, for my ht/music setup in my room. Im wondering if that sub on an O audio 500 watt plate amp at 8 ohms (385 watts) is a decent setup for what i want. I have Polk monitor 50 floorstanders, a CS1 center, r15's for rears and im about to buy a Harman Kardon AVR 247 reciever. It is for about 50% games, 25% music and 25% movies. Is there anything else i should consider? (such as a different sub or amp) and How big should i build the box, what should i tune it to, and how much port area should i give it? here are the specs of the sub: RE: 6.89 ohms Z: 8 ohms Fs: 27.2 Hz Qes: 0.56 Qms: 3.32 Qts: 0.48…

So I got bored the other day and made a headphone stand for my desk since I was tired of them kicking around on the desk. Figured I'd go ahead and post some pictures of it. Flat back MDF base, walnut upright with 3 coats of tung oil, and a 1.25" dowel rod that was dipped in a rubber coating, then shot with flat black to match.

On the amp it has speaker terminals and i remember reading and seeing pics in the manual about hooking speakers up to that same amp but I do not remember what it said and I do not have the manual. Does anyone know what I am talking about, sorry I can not explain it any better. If you know what I am talking about how would I hook up more speakers?

  25. So my fraternity wants me to build a sound system for our basement when we have parties. The basement can easily fit over 300 people. It is 4 appartment's basements that connect into one (I will post pictures when I get back from spring break). What they told me they want is "We want this to be as loud as humanly possible and incredibly bassy." I am not a pro audio kind of guy and do not know much about it. Is there anywhere I can find beginner information on how to have everything set up? This is going to be set up more like a club and I do not know where to find information on that. Anything will be helpful. Thanks, Chris
