I want to build a new subwoofer design either an 8inch or 10 inch sub running off a 120rms plate amp. What are some good subs out there and also would need to build a crossover for it. ive been searching for some diy builds but haven't found any for an 8 or a 10 inch with a driver matching my amp.

So my fraternity wants me to build a sound system for our basement when we have parties. The basement can easily fit over 300 people. It is 4 appartment's basements that connect into one (I will post pictures when I get back from spring break). What they told me they want is "We want this to be as loud as humanly possible and incredibly bassy." I am not a pro audio kind of guy and do not know much about it. Is there anywhere I can find beginner information on how to have everything set up? This is going to be set up more like a club and I do not know where to find information on that. Anything will be helpful. Thanks, Chris

this is the final diagram of how im going to build it. we moved in a few days ago so i was here long enough to move the couch around, etc, and take measurements. the blue is going to be the desk. on top of the desk im going to build shelves. i think its gonna look bad ass...my problem is, i cant make it until i get the boxes designed. should i put both in that corner next to the couch, or put one there, and the other sub on the other end of the desk, by the closet door?

I am looking for a 2 channel amp in the no more than $300 range. I dont know where to turn. I originally was going to get an A/V receiver, but I dont need the video part of the receiver. The back of the TV will do just fine. Better quality anyways, and I don't need the radio. Anyways. I am going to be powering 2 KEF Q's coaxial 15-100 watt speakers at 6 ohms. And are pre-amps basically to be the equalizer? And also. If I get an amp, do I need a pre-amp? And if I need one, where should I start looking?

Okay, I think I've decided on going with a 15" Dayton Reference HF subwoofer for my home audio build. My question is: should I build a crossover for this? I'm not very experienced in this, but I'm willing to learn. Should I buy a prebuilt crossover from PE? Or would the crossover on the amp be enough? I'm new to this, so I'd appreciate ALL points of view. Thanks, Ryan Also, This will be used primarily for movies, with a little music here and there. Now, what should I tune this to? SHOULD I port it? And what type of port....slotted or aero?

The tempurature outside is going to be perfect for grilling in the next month or so and I decided I was tired of having to turn up the indoor setup so loud the people inside the house had to shout over it so I could listen to music. So I bought a pair of Dayton indoor/outdoor speakers today and a ton of wire (500ft). I had intentions of using the "B" channel of the "A/B" selector on my HT receiver as a channel to run the outside speakers. I found lots of information, but very little specifics on the subject. My questions. 1) Can I use the "B" speaker selector on the Yamaha RXV2400 to power these in addition to its regular duties? 2) Volume control, is it as simple as pu…

I have my 360, dvd, and tv hooked up to my surround sound and am trying to have the cpu hooked up also. It has a digital audio output but the tv or dvd doesn't have a digital audio input, and my digital audio cable doesn't work with the regular audio inputs. I tried using regular RCAs to the tv and dvd but that didn't work.. So how do I hook up the computer to go to the surround sound? Here's a link for specs on the comp ___\/___ http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...AIN#detailspecs Thanks

Hey guys. I have been a Car Audio nut for a while now but it has come time to build a sub for home use, theater not really music. I don't have a ton of room, maybe 6-8 ft^3 or a little more if I push hard for it. Looking to build an enclosure that'll really bring out the low end <20Hz and have an upper cutoff around 60-70 Hz. Been looking at drivers for a while and I think I have decided on a 15" as the optimum size for the room. No windows, 1 door, carpet, etc around 13'x22' so fairly good in room gain. Now I need a driver. Here is what I had in mind, but I will be getting the amp once I've picked a driver(s): SI Mag 15 CSS SDX15 SS RL-p 15 Dayton TIT400C-4 15…

Hey guys. I'm trying to finish this before tomorrow and I'm stuck with part of the crossover schematic. I know his may be simple, but I think I'm thinking too much. I have the tweet part figured out. My problem is with the woofers. Question: Do I solder the 14.0mH, 8.0mH, and the 1.5mH leads together? Do the other leads on the inductors (14.0mH, 8.0mH, and the 1.5mH) get…

I'm looking to do a bit of an expirement. My HT system is a "people's choice" ORB AUDIO setup. I have two orbs (two 4' orbs) for all four channels. Anyway, The orbs have no real midbass. I have no connection between my sub and the orbs. I'm looking for a good 280hz-60hz. The best crossover point for these are around 120hz as per manufacture. I'm wanting to build a midbass enclosure to add to this setup. Not sure if things will work but I'm always willing to try. I don't want to spend too much at this point, probably around $30-40 for the mids and a simple crossover design to go along. I know I may be missing some info for some, so let me know what questions you have for m…

Hello, As the title says, I want some new speakers for my home audio system. I have a Marantz amp, with tuner included, it is rated at 2 x 70 w rms, I think so ! I have a set of Bose Acoustimass speakers, that can handle 2 x 100 w. I like how they sound, but I need to give them to my father because they're small and sound good. I want something good, of course, but not as expensive as the Bose. Just a bass box and 2 speakers. I listen to rap, reggae,...so...I need bass, I can just buy the sub and make the box. So, can you tell me what would you choose, and where to buy online, please?

I used a parallel notch filter calculator to determine the values for L,C,& R for a trap attenuating 12db between 12k and 14khz. This will be used with the Dayton RS52's I purchased for my Blazer. The values given were: C- 30.03uf L- .75mh R- 2.65ohm I found the cap and inductor on PE's website, but the resistor is confusing me. I'm under the impression the resistor has to be rated for the wattage being used with te speaker, right? If this is so, I'm having a hard time finding a resistor of such little resistance @ 50 watts or better. At this point, I figure I'm near over my head. I figured the home audio guys could help here! TIA, Dan
