http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Yqrw4yBuiBZ/c...mp;I=580HTS700B I'm pretty new to the HT scene and I was wondering how do u guys think that setup would do me to start off? I was looking for something nice to go with my Samsung 32" HDTV and PS3 to play my blu-ray movies on and video games. P.S. i'm looking for a good 5.1 setup. with a good reciever, 80 watts to the 5 speakers and like 1 sub that can handle 200 watts and sounds clear and deep. i'm up for getting one of those powered subwoofers if i find a good option that doesn't have all the speakers and reciver bundled. I've got around a $600 budget.

Right now I have an MJ18-M in 11 cubes net tuned to 20hz with about 650 watts. I was wondering if I would get more output with an 18" Nightshade at the low end in the same enclosure? I listen to music about 15% and watch movies and play games 85%. I have a behringer EP1500 watt amp. Is it worth switching or not? I can get a trade for the nightshade is why I am asking. WinSD shows about the same spl.

So I know this will sound completely noob-tastic, but I was wondering how you would power a sub if you wanted to make a high power home audio setup.

Someone posted up some macro pics of these absolutely beautiful drivers a while back. I think it might have been NDMStang, but I'm not sure. I think they were posted on this forum so that is why I am posting this here. It was a smaller (6"?) driver with a carbon fiber cone and chrome phase plug. I remember reading something about them being produced, but I never saw anythng about them again. Anyone know what I am talking about or have I had too many drinks on Cinco de Mayo?

From what I can tell, this guy has the DartZeel Pre and power amps ($20,000 each), Pass Labs X1 or x0.5 preamp (about $15,000), 4 of the compression drivers on the sub-horn (I've seen similsr drivers at $8-10,000 each), Some crazy ass tube amps for the upper midrange (If I had to guess..... $40,000 each), a Zanden CD transport and DAC (that's another $40,000), and more crazy ass tube amps for the lower midrange (let's say $20,000), a PS Audio conditioner ($5,000 or so), it looks like an SME 30/10 turntable ($40,000 with a no doubt expensive cartridge), and maybe another $10,000+ in wires. That's close to $300,000 in stuff. Then have the horns custom molded for his yard, a…

already picked up the mids a while back and now i'm finally getting around to putting this all together. my question is, which brand or type of components should i order to build the crossovers. here is the parts list. however, following the recommendation when used as desktop/near field R2 = 4ohm. here is the list i put together, just want to make sure im not spending too much, or not enough.. i have to place an order for speakers (bro's build), so shipping will be free from parts express. (could place the order through another site) 30 ohm 4ohm .4 mh board 4.3 uf cap .8 mh =30 bones

Well at work some lady brought in an old Zenith Solid State turntable. I wasn't sure about the model number. All I found was this number(Z565W-157309) and a google search got me nothing. It works and everything but the lady said it sound "horrid". My first guess was that the electrolytic coupling caps are bad and probably those in the PS supply. Should I go ahead with replacing the larger electrolytics or does anyone have any other suggestions where to start?
