I have (2) 12" Intelligent Audio Systems (TC SOUNDS PROTOTYPES) 3" Copper Coils Single 3ohm 1000w RMS Designed for 1 cubic feet sealed enclosures. w/ poly fill added All I have is a basic 5 channel samsung home theater system that came as a package deal with my bluray player, so i'm obviously looking to upgrade. For starters I'm only looking for some power to push this substage. I looked into Crown XLS/XTI amplifiers around 2,000w RMS because that's all I know.... what brands and models should I consider, nothing top of the line but reasonably priced! Well i have a Dayton HPSA1000 plate amp that been sitting here for some time now and its time to put it to use. Well my next is looking for a driver or drivers. I have tons of air space so this is not a porblem. Due to most of my money going to a different build im going to have to limit my budget for driver or drivers to 300 shipped. With the lack of budget i been considering a single 18 set up (Mach 5 IXL 18.4, FI SSD, etc). Any suggestions, im not limited to anything as long as it fits my needs? Corey

I'm in the process of building a home theater sub using one of the Mach 5 Audio MJ-18s, I'm going with the recommended 8.8 cubic foot enclosure and was using Win ISD to plot the slot port. I have 2 questions, 1.) What type of vent should I use with this? Should I go with the slot vent or use the conventional round vents? 2.) How much power should I feed this sub? Does anyone have a recommendation for an amplifier for this sub? I don't care if it's conventional or a plate amp. Thanks again everyone.

I'm buying this pre amp for my microphone: ART Pro Channel Microphone Preamp and Compressor It has an XLR input for the mic, and XLR output, and an 1/4 input and output. My question is, what would be the best way to go from the pre amp into my sound card to record ? I have your typical line input on the sound card, 1/8 size. 1/4 to 1/8, or XLR to 1/8 ?

I am looking to get a rack mount amp to use in my room to power 2 AQ 15's. I am looking at the Behringer ep2500 and the GTD Audio GD-750. I can get both for the same price. I know that the Behringer is more widely used and known for a good 2400 RMS but the GTD is 2 x 2250 @ 2 ohms, so it is almost double power and the same price. I want to know if anyone has experience with the GTD or if anyone has heard anything about the GTD amp. Depending on how the GTD performs will help me decide what amp to use.

I was wondering if anyone had some objective data or even and explanation as to why a high end processor would sound better then a low end processor/receiver. I understand that subjective listening plays a role in what people prefer and that some audiophiles look at audio more as a hobby but is there a hardware reason that impacts sound quality? might be getting a gift from the lady soon .... My Marantz is on the fritz and I haven't called a dealer yet for anything BUT .... it's about 5yrs old not that I think it's old but I wonder what its gonna cost me to fix... it does a cycle boot kinda like a computer... Turns on, screen display comes up, blue activity light comes on, then shuts of into standby and the red standby light comes on... repeat... sometimes the characters looks like Chinese on the screen display ... fckin weird and sucks.... I know this is probably not under "Home Audio", but I'm taking my chances. Looking at TV's, I need an outside opinion. I can get a Samsung 61 inch or so, 1080p DLP TV for around $1500. What's the catch. I googled around for the Pro's and Con's of DLP TV's, but nothing gave me anything to hold on to. For instance one "Con" I saw was, "TV not small enough to hang on wall". <-- That means nothing to me. Anyways. I know nothing is too good to be true. I need some input. Thanks

I am not tooo interesting in using a home theater receiver and all of that. I moreso like the concept of putting a car system in home. Not for the outstanding theater surround sound just for the deep loud bass and all that. I was wondering what places like Best Buy and other places use to run their display system. I am looking moreso for like a brand and model. I am assuming they use power supplies but the only ones i have found are small ones for computers. made a thread a while back on this, i never got around to taking pics after i hung the tv. i gotta get back up the attic and shim up the left side of the tv, becuase the trusses arent perfectly level in the attic. either way, its really the only way i could have mounted it, and its a nice viewing position from my bed. had i used a normal wall mount and put it on the wall, it wouldnt be angled towards my bed any. anyways, heres the pics. the tv speakers are removable, and will be removed, once i get a 2.1 setup to replace it with. had to put it on SSA before the pic haha this is laying in my bed questions- should i buy a simple 2.1 setup, or should i make a DIY setup fro…

Well at work some lady brought in an old Zenith Solid State turntable. I wasn't sure about the model number. All I found was this number(Z565W-157309) and a google search got me nothing. It works and everything but the lady said it sound "horrid". My first guess was that the electrolytic coupling caps are bad and probably those in the PS supply. Should I go ahead with replacing the larger electrolytics or does anyone have any other suggestions where to start?

So I am tired of my crappy computer speakers and i want to build an MT set myself, passive crossovers and all if I can figure out how, the soldering doesn't scare me cause I've built a headphone amp before. I want some decent cheaper components that I could use in my room maybe on my desk. I am using a home amplifier than does not have filters in it. So what happens is it send the full frequency range to my subwoofer. It has been working that way for a very long time with no problem, but it's messing up my image. It's playing frequencies it is not suppose to and instead of only feeling the bass I can hear higher notes coming from it too, and that's annoying the least setting the stage in another direction. I know most of you won't approve this but I have the subwoofer at the left channel and the original speakers I bought with it, two of them for 4 ohm load, at the right channel. I was looking at the MAW-12 for home theater use...the MAW-12 looks like it can be used in a rather small enclosure (1.8 ft3 tuned to 28 HZ) It looks like a good value with reasonable low extension in a small vented enclosure. ANyone using this sub ? Especially in a similar enclosure? Any recommendations on any of the MACH5 line for home theater or another driver ? Criteria for the sub are 1) small - 2ft3 or less 2) decent (87 db + sensitivity) 3) decent low frequency extension (35 Hz or below F3) Has anyone used one of the MAW drivers with a passive radiator ? The MAW-12 could definitely be used with a passive radiator setup...

so i bought a big ass shed, something i have always wanted, half of it is my "home gym" and the other half is my work shop , my first though for music was to do a standard audio receiver , but after looking around on parts express im thiking hell why not do something small compact and different . goals, good full sound,stereo with a sub, bluetooth would be cool but not a must. i was looking at the new Lepai LP-2020TI but the Lepai LP-168HA 2.1 has a sub channel if i run the LP 168HA am i lookiing a running an inline passive cross over of sorts>?
