Im In The Process Of Building New Box For My 87 Mustang. It Will Be For 2 BTLS's Around 8 Cubes Net. The Anticipation Was Killing Me So I just Went Ahead And Threw My Old Box Where The Passanger Seat Was to see how it performed on my SAZ-3000D At first i was amazed. Then about after 15 min. of Slamming it it wasnt as loud anymore and the BTL wasnt Able To Handle the Amp Half Way (Gain All Way Down) It was Already Reaching Its Limits And Bottoming Out. so i was pretty bumed as it sounded the same if not less than 2 memphis 12" subs. so i was looking making sure all the connections were tight and secure, and i decided to take my DMM and meassure the Voltage off the battery…

Whats good guys. So I'm new here as you can tell and I'm planning on getting a 15" Fi bl in my 03 civic. Lookin for some advice here, since i cannot get it at the 3 local shops as they all asked me what Fi is haha. Alright so I cant decide between the Audioque 1200d and the Sundown SAE-1200D. Just saw the Sundown here for $315, but I dont know whether or not this site is legit: Sundown SAE-1200D - Amplifiers - Power Max Electronics LLC If i get the AQ1200d, i would want it to do 1470 watts but it says it will have 5%THD, so will that not sound good?. I've heard the SAE-1200d could do 1500watts and sound good. If the AQ1200d will sound fine at 1470w i will get it, since it…

I have a Rockford 1000bd, and I'm getting a box made 2.0cu ft tuned to 33hz. What sub will have a better output as far as SPL. 12" Fi Bl or (underpowered) Btl? The reason that I ask is because I don't want to spend the money to get a HO alt for this particular car. Volvo 1996 960. I currently have a 120 amp alt. I have a Pioneer Premier w3001 1000rms. and before I got the Rockford P1000, I had a Trash ass sony Xplod amp 400rms, which was from my last set up. the trash ass xplod amp and my old Kenwood 3012 400rms, sound completely better than the xplod and Pioneer Premier set up. So this is reason Im asking, I don't want to get a BTL and have it sound like…

I decided to change my set-up. I want to build a forth order bandpass for my two FI SSD 12"s. I think they are the 2008 model. I am putting in my 1995 Impala SS. I plan on porting it through the back deck. Can anyone help me with the numbers I need. Such as the air space volume for the sealed and ported areas. Also for the port (@ 35 hz). I wanted the box to be tuned to 35 hz. I'm trying to get the MOST out of these subs but with All the sound pushed into the cab and not rattling everything aound in my trunk By the way I will be powering them with a Audiopipe AP18001. And if anyone has done any thing similar in my same type car please post pics. Thanks in advance!…

I have had my 12" BTL for over five months now. Around 4 months ago, i started hearing a poping noise on certain high notes. My first thought was that the box it is installed in caused the sub to reach its mechanical limits. The enclosure is 3 cubes after displacement at 34 hz. I know that this box is over the recommended specs, but i am only giving the sub 1000 watts from an Alpine PDX 1.1000. The sub is fully loaded and i have never heard any clipping out of the amp. When i noticed the popiing noise, I turned my amp gain down to around an eighth of a turn from zero. This gave me very little bass, but it kept the sub from poping so i was satisfied until i could fin…

In about a month it's going to be time to purchase and I'm stuck on this last aspect of the system. The sub. Will be powered by a 1000watt rms Sundown amp. Sub will be in the trunk of a small 4 dr. sedan. Front stage and Deck Alpine CDA9887 Mids and Tweets- Hertz HSK 165 Front Stage Amp- Sundown 2 Channel

The foam on the top of the basket didn't have the mounting holes drilled in it. Also, the holes were a tad small for a 1/4" bolt. I saw a thread on here before where someone drilled theirs out to accommodate 1/4" bolts, but I've never heard anything about the holes not going through the foam. Is this normal, or did they just forget to put the holes in mine?

I don't understand ohms at all. But I'm ordering a 15'' BTL with an audioque 2200 watt amp. So it will just be 1 sub, 1 amp. What ohm should I run? and can somone maybe explain what it means to me?

Howdy everyone. I have pretty limited experience with car audio and I was looking for some opinions on what I had in mind for my next build. (I just blew my old subs, not too sure how, but they were junk anyway.) I was looking at the SSD 15". I'm going to make a custom box thats going to be right around 4 cubic feet after displacement and tuned to 33hz. The amp I'm looking at is the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1000-1d. It's rated at 1000 watt RMS @ 2 ohms. I was thinking I would go dual 1 ohm's and wire it up to 2 ohms. Now would I have to add the flatwind coils since I would be putting it 200 watts over the RMS rating? Any criticism/opinions welcome, thanks.

I am running a pair of Q 15's on a PAI-2000.1 @ 1ohm sealed. It's deep and its loud, specially in a civic hatch. I don't want to lose my back seats if possible, that's why I opted to go with the Q's sealed from the get go. The box before displacement is 4.9cuft on the dot. Do you think I would get more output if I closed off one of the speaker holes and added a few 4" aeroports, tuning the box to 33hz and popping in a single 15" BTL D1 to run the amp at .5ohm? I am not sure how long the ports would have to be or how many I would need (3-4), so I am not sure if after displacement it would be an ideal enclosure for a BTL. I would be losing half my cone area (-3db) but …

I'm looking to try a new driver in my home theater and after hearing nothing but good stuff about Fi I think its time to give them a try. I am considring the Q15 or Q18. The enclosure is sealed with a net volume around 7 cubic feet. The amp is a Face F1200TS and I will run the sub off of one channel leaving the other channel free for a second sub in the near future. I have a dcx2496 in the chain between my Marantz 7002 and the Face amp. I am open to suggestions if anyone has an opinion of a different Fi driver to try.

The 2010 FI Q 10" just arrived. It is definitely heavier than I was expecting but looks really good. I guess I can start building my custom sealed box soon. I haven't figured out how I will attach a grill to it yet. The 28mm Xmax and the fact that the cone sits higher than the lip will produce a challenge to protect the subwoofer. The only thing that pissed me off is that FI shipped the subwoofer using UPS. $60US shipping to Canada and then $92CAN for Brokerage and Customs. This is why I try and get everything via USPS.

Alright.. first of all excuse my terminology.. probably use some 'wrong' terms in this post, bare with me here is some backround.. 1 18"BTL, 1 SAZ1500D, 2 Kinetik HC2000's, all 1/0 knu wire. Had some guy build a box for me.. thought he knew what he was doin.. i could have been wrong.. the box seems strong.. very huge. I dont know the exact Cu Ft of the box, he told me tuning was around 32hz. This is my first big system.. ive had tons of 12's but no 15's or 18's. Im going to set my voltage with a DMM here in a little while (post my math under for verification). 1) This BTL is insane.. the output blows me away.. hits so damn hard when it hits.. but as far as musical its j…

Hi. New member signing in. This board appears to have a number of knowledgable as well as experienced individuals, so I'm looking forward to your input. To get down to it... I'm looking at subs. My car is a 2009 Mazda 3 sedan. I listen mainly to rock. Maybe throw in some hip hop. 90/10. I'll be working with approximately 500w RMS @ 2 ohms. My focus is SQ, and (like everyone seems to say) I enjoy listening at higher volumes. This will most likely be a sealed application. I'm comfortable sacrificing in the neighborhood of 1ft^3. I'm probably not experienced enough to call myself an audiophile, but I'm very critical of my equipment. I ask a lot from the products …
