hi guys im new to the forum first off, im not a car audio expert, im gonna get a new car soon and im planning on getting new bass on it. listen to mostly rap, hip hop, techno ive heard of JL w6v2 w/ jl 500/1 it sounded great it really hits the low notes. i was planning on getting that setup until i found the Fi Q's, sounds to me they're cheaper and supposely better so i guess im going with the Q's im mainly going for SQ rather than SPL so im going for the 1-12" Q: 1)what amp should i power it with? I decided to change the "sub-stage" in my truck from that single 15" in that ported enclosure that just never seemed to sound right to two Fi Q 12" in a dual chambered sealed enclosure. The enclosure has about 1.5ft^3 per chamber. The two subwoofers are without the BP option and are being powered by an AQ2200d amplifier.(2200watts@1-Ohms). Hopefully sending each Q with around 1100watts. The subwoofers are DVC 1-Ohm, wired in series to 2-Ohms per subwoofer and bringing a 1-Ohm load on the amplifier. I am looking at setting up a sub in my car. I have had systems in the past, but I'm used to just running subs from Crutchfield or Best Buy - just choose your size, amount of coils, and throw it in the car. I am looking for a single sub that can handle a lot of power, but still be very clean. I'm not looking to go to any shows or SPL competitions, I just want to enjoy it in my daily driver. My problem is I'm ignorant on reading the specs for the subs on Fi's product page - I don't know what they mean by Fs, Re, Qms, Qes, etc. I have an Elemental Designs Nine.1 amp that I am going to use. So it appears I may have made my box a touch to large and now im concerned about my sub hitting the back of my seat. I originally intended to recess the sub .75inches in a 1.5 inch thick ring. Not being familiar with the metric system I wasn't aware until about a hour ago of how big 27 mm Xmax was. Unless im mistaken that means the subs cone will have a hair over 2 inches of travel from peak to peak before getting into distortion. My concern lies with forward movement. I figured for .75 inches of forward movement, to find out now after the box is being constructed by me ( out of fiberglass ), that I didn't figure right. SO, how accurate is the 27mm measurment? hi. anyone ever used a wall for 2 Fi Q 15's? i have a box thats tuned to 9 cu ft. right now but i wanted to see if i could use a wall for these. i was thinking like 12-15 cu ft. too much??? any suggestions? thanks.

well, after reading on this forum for quite awhile, and few other forums, i decided to join this one, and went to the FI site and bought a 12" BL D2 with cooling, flatwind, daily with the universal option just in case i decide to run 2. Hopefully by next week i will order my sundown 1500. Sub is going in an 86 chevy c-10 regular cab, in a center console box. Will post pics when it arrives, i am very excited. As only thing around here is kicker, alpine, JL, fosgate and mtx.

after changing from goin bl to q...i wanna kno if i can still compete with em and still be in the high ranks(high 45+db)..if anyone has done it ...specially with a pair of 18 q's lemme know your score on TL and your enclosure specs...i have a an old(tricked out)corrolla hatch back...enclosure designs for optimum output??,..thanks!!

Ok the title makes it look a little dramatic sorry...but I do need some help/advice here. First off this is my first post and im not that experienced when it comes to car audio, so please no dogging just try and help please. So heres my problem... I got a BL 15 the other day will all the options besides extreme lead and universal. I got a custom box made thats 3.5 cubic feet tuned to 35hz. I got a 350Z recently and I'll be redoing the entire sound system using mostly parts I had from prior systems that I took apart years ago. Long story short I'll be building a fiberglass corner box, sealed, about 0.5 cuft and I can put a 10" sub in there. The FiQ10 seems to fit the bill with the limited space I have and the amp I have laying around (Directed 1100d, used it to power an RE SX15 that I need to sell still) So I'm guessing the Q10 with BP Power just to be safe and I should be good, right? i just got my bl yesterday, brokerage was 65$ :s. i was just wondering how do i know if my bl has the cooling option on it. i thought the magnet was supposed to have a hole through it when it had cooling, but mine does'nt. is this bad or am i just misinformed? thx-phil

What is the optimal box size (cubic feet) and port area (square inches) for a 12" BTL? Tuning to about 35 Hz.

its been reviewed and its been a "god" in sq.its the w6 ...no doubt its a fantastic woofer..but how does the Q compare..this would be a nice reference .

FiQ 18 + AQ2200 at 2 ohm vs AQ hdc3 18 + AQ2200 at 1 ohm really confused and dont know with sub to get because I originally wanted the FiQ for its SQ but for $60 cheaper I can get something LOUDER...but how is the hdc3 18 when it comes to SQ Help would be appreciated

I was thinkin about getting [ONE] Q series 12inch (I drive a 05 Nissan Altima, so limited on space in the back of the trunk) w/ BP power and 1 Ohm.. I have a 12'' BL in a 2.25 or so cu. ft. box ported at 32 hz, and a Kicker ZX1000.1 running at 2 ohms and it doesnt seem loud enough, and i dont want to clip it to death. im wondering if a different amp can help? its a fully loaded bl so im sure it can take 1500 rms, what do you guys suggest? right now for electrical i have 1/0 for the amp and battery, ive done the wire upgrades for the grounding in the engine compartment, except for the alternator because of it being mounted by my chassis rather than near the hood. any suggestions there besides the alt positve wire?

Hi everyone ... I am confuse to decide which better and suit to my system. I used HAT Legatia 3way, and now consider to used Fi or AA product. Which better between Fi Q 12" vs AA Havoc 12" with sealed box for SQ competition ??? I will drive it by Genesis dual mono extreem bridge @ 4ohm. Is it true to compared Q with Havoc ??? or Q should compared with Chaos series or another ??? is Havoc for SQ like Q series ??? Can Havoc play SPL also ??? I also want to build fun SPL car here.
