Hey guys, I have a question about horizontal mounting a subwoofer. I've read various articles on it, looked at the sag factor tech page from adire, and etc... still, i've heard some convincing things about it still not being good. Here's my question for you: I have an 18" BL full loaded and its horizontally mounted. I ran the sag factor equation from adire and it meets the "criteria" of mounting horizontal. however, iv'e heard also that with gravity...it doesnt matter because gravity pulls down on it more and therefore i get more distortion, etc. whats the low down on this? Am i in some bad shape with having my sub horizontal? normally I mount my subs in the typical, firi…

Hey everyone. I am new to not only this forum but to FI as well. I have always had "eh" subs that are sold in my area. I currently have 2 10" RF T1's in a 3 cu ft enclosure....I am lookin to upgrade to something louder and better and am not sure of which sub to go with. I listen to 75% heavy rap, 10% techno, and 15% heavy metal. I like SPL mostly, but want to retain some SQ. Are the Q's or BL's a better replacment for what I have?

Im lookin for overall LSQ like the sub was intended to be. thanks Brian

First the system: Right now I plan on doing 2 12's ported or 2 10's ported, Q's of course. 2k watts total. I will be running lots of mids and highs for "look" purposes as I am hoping to compete in shows, so I imagine around 1k watts, depending on stuff. I have a 160 amp alt and the stock battery is a 730 ampere battery. I already plan on doing big 3. I will probably throw in an extra battery as well. Will I need a bigger alt or will a 160 amp alt work? I know it brings a lot of other factors in. My amps are more than likely gonna be RF amps cause I can get a little deal on them. Any other suggestions or ideas to ensure I have adequate power would be great.…

first question: What would be the smallest enclosure you all would reccommend for two fully loaded 18" BTLs seeing about 3500watts(rms)/sub, tuned to the low/mid 30s and mainly for daily driving (with maybe the occassional competition)? second question: i know on your site it says the btl comes in a 10" size, but i thought i remember some problems with it so you all quit making them as 10s. im basically wanting to know if u all still make a 10" BTL that is built for pure spl? thanks, andy mods: u can move this to the FI technical section if u want...didnt know where to put it.

Hey I ordered a D1 SSD 10 awhile ago, with the BP Power option and the copper coil. My tracking number says that my sub came today at 2:11pm and was delivered to my front door, but my mother was here all day and says she never had somebody come to the door. I came home at 3:20 and there was no package outside then. It is now 6:11pm and there is still no sub here. Is this typical with tracking orders from Fi? I contacted UPS and they said to contact Fi. Please get back to me ASAP as I am really worried I will not get my sub. I emailed Scott a little bit ago and just put this up to see if any1 could give me any other info. Thanks, Ross

Ok heres the story, im chillin in the intersection down the street from my house waiting for the light and then this SUV in front of me decides he wants to bump his chit......so you KNOW i had to let him have it. Well i fired up a gucci mane song "pyrex pot" and it took a few seconds before the beat hit, but in the meantime the highs was' tickin pretty hard. So i look over and i got the attention of some brothas in the gas station on the corner and i just shake my head and acknowlege the battle thats about to happen when this beat drops. So you know the song kicked in and i shut that dude down HARD in front of me and he sped off. I didnt get it on tape because i wasnt pre…

Like the title says, I was wondering if there are pumping losses or air noise exiting from the cooling channels or the like thanks. Just to be clear, I'm only curious about bp power option only, let's just say the sub was inverted for reference.

Well today we had a gathering amongst friends in Honolulu Hawaii with a Term lab to play around with.... Fi was killing the scene.... TL meter..... DB Drag setting... peak hold, sweeps and sine waves then music... We got to show off a 10" BL a 15" Q and an 18" BTL on a sundown 3000D.. I have to say Philips 10" BL is so damn impressive... some of the new guys that showed up were amazed at what that 10" BL could put out (numbers wise and sound wise)... Not many 10's on this island can boast a solid steady 142 on a TL with a single 10... The 15" Q first run was right up there with some of the other DD set-ups that were veterans.... He put up a 142 with a single 15 Q on an …

Anyone at Fi, I need to send back my 15" Q for repair. My brother wanted to help me when I was attaching it to the box and he slipped with the drill, poking a hole in the rubberish material between the paper cone and the gasket. I was wondering what repair costs would be for that? I no longer have the box it was shipped to me in, so what I will have to do is have Fi send me a box for it. If it is an option, I would also just like to have the box already pre-payed to ship to y'all and then y'all send it back to me, and I can pay the total for repair and the shipping both ways, whatever it would be. I am pretty sure I am going to have this sent back and have that replaced,…

Also curious about this one. I have had some cheap subs in the past with horrible bass response. How do the BTLs stand up for bass response. I have a friend with RF P3's in their "special" enclosure (the plastic ported box) and I have noticed that a lot of the bass notes are jumbled together and don't stand out from one another. Since the BTL's are some big SPL subs, do they do this as well or are they a little better and letting the notes stand out.

My first sealed box for my 2 Q15's was 4.4ft^3. It sounded perfect. Now I have 4 Q15's sealed in 8.6ft^3 (after displacement). It is a little less then half the doulbed volume of the dual sub box. I assumed that my roll off would be nearly identical to my first box, or my tuning would be slightly higher, but it is actually opposite. It peaks at 35hz +/- but rolls off quickly above 40hz, as if the box is too big. Could it be possibe that the specs need to be adjusted do to box size or the amount of subs used? Maybe because it is all a single chamber? Because if this, I am considering doing a box that is about 10ft^3 with 4-5 4" round ports tuned to 34hz. That woul…
