Hello everyone I'm Jesse. I was wondering what kinda sound differentiality may come between the BL vs. the Q. I know the xmax plays a big part in the sound of a woofer. Honestly, I'm inexperienced with many other brands aside from kicker. My main question is, Why does a BL get louder with only 18mm xmax, while the Q has a whopping 28mm xmax (same as the btl)? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that the Q can play a wider variety of lower bass than the BL? Or can the BL kill the lows in the same fashion? Thanks!

I'm going to be purchasing a new 12" Fi Q when they come available on the 31st. I'm going to be running it on 500rms in a sealed box. Would any of the many options available be helpful to get, in this application? If so, which ones. Obviously I'm getting the High Qts model. I'm talking about the other options. Thanks guys for any input.

Right now I have 2 rockford p3's with a rockford punch 1000D. I wanted to sell those and get a 15'' FI BTL, does that seem like a good idea?? and would that 1000D watt amp be enough power for the 15? thanks

I'm looking for someone with some expeirience with ssd's I have an old caravan and looking to do a grounpounder setup. 220 amp alt 3 deka's in the back 4 run's of 1/0. I'm going to run 3 18" ssd's in around 20 cubes at 34hz off an ap3k at 1.5ohms I'm sure i can support the amp at 1.5 with my electrical. Does this sound about right subs up port back around 300 to 320 inches of port space.

  8. Alright, so hows this for a comparison. Both setups would be on 4,000 watts rms. Both would be ported to optimal space. Aside from the Q's costing less, what would you expect the differences to be? Also, both applications would be tuned low to optimize the low end. Most likely 27-28 hz tuning. Q's louder around the 30hz and under, Bl's louder on the 30hz and higher notes? That's all I can think of. Honestly though would the differences at 30hz even be really that noticeable? I'm trying to advise a friend of mine who is interested in building with Fi products. These would be 15's, by the way. Maybe 12's if the space ends up not accommodating. This is going in a walled…

  9. I ordered my re-cone for my BTL about a month and a half ago and it didn't work out for me, I thought I could get the thing to work, but since it was my first time to re-cone a sub a few things went wrong so I'm just going to order a Q when I get the money to do so, i only have a few questions, will my Rockford 1051s be too much for that sub and will it be louder than my btl 15 was on the same amp and in the same box?

I just found my old x 12s in the garage and wanted to freshen them up a little with a recone for a friend, only thing is I really wanted to get the flat wound coils on the x's so they can handle at least 900 watts rms or close but the x series do not have that option.. Even tho there is no option for the FW coil in the x recone page would i still be able to have them do it? Or maybe use the ssd series recone with a flat wound coil, would that even work?? Is there any recone kit at all i can get to make the x's better? Better as in: handle a lil more power, have more than just a tiny single spider, integrated tinsel leads(no cushions on the cone for the …

I was wondering whats comes standard and what exactly I could get done. I would like to get it to handle as much power as possible while staying cooler than the ones I have now did before. On the ordering page it shows I can choose between copper coil and flat wind. Is the Bp option able to be added? if so how would I pay for that? I have the old 2 stack magnet. I burned up the coil in one of the ones I have now. Also I am not sure if I have a copper coil motor or flatwind. I don't think I can put a flatwind in the copper coil if that is what I have. If I pay for the flatwind and have the copper coil, what would happen.

  12. I just finished adding a new option for the SSD and Q series subs. This new option adds a machined aluminum compression plug to the pole which helps channel all of the air under the dustcap around the coil for better cooling. To aid with this increased airflow we also add 6 axial cooling channels in the top plate. Along with increased thermal capacity comes the addition of an extra spider and a changed spider pack for a little extra mechanical ability. All of these new features increase power handling from 200-500 Watts depending on the application. Its just another way of tuning and tailoring your subs to your exact needs. For those interested in a retrofit... we can …

I have two kicker cvr's in a 4.4 cubic foot box. Would a 15" Fi Bl hit harder in nearly the same size enclosure? I have a rockford 1000-1bd for power and the system is in a 2008 dodge caliber.

  17. ok, well i had planned tp put a Fi BTL in my Fiero, but the only practical way to put a nice large sub in a Fiero is to either use the front storage or the trunk, using a bandpass box and porting to the cab. i had an email conversation with Scott about a bandpass box for the BTL, and he said it wouldnt work too well for a daily driver situation. so i described my situation to him and he suggested the Q or the BL. I told him id be plenty happy with the Q. he gave me specs for a nice bandpass box for the Q, and said it would have a nice flat response for frequencies between 20 and 80 hertz. this is a quote from the email, "It will take some work to get things to fit co…

right now i have 1 fi btl 15 fully loaded and a sundown 3500d i hit a 147.3 on two 40 amp fuses ( meca mod 2) but i will be moving to meca mod 3 and was wondering which would be louder with the 3500. i have a 2004 cavalier and it's walled off so space is not an issue... the three ssd 18's would be the new model fully loaded and would be dual 1's for a 1.3 ohm load and 3 40 amp fuses. the tho bl's would also be fully loaded d1's for a 1 ohm load and would have 3 50 amp fuses... thanks for the help

So from what I've read the Fi Q is a good SQ subwoofer. it is also in my power and price range. I was looking at the specs on the different sizes avalible and they all have the same RMS. What would be the advantage of getting a smaller or bigger Q? I will be powering it with a kicker zx750.1 which is a little underrated. I plan on putting it in a sealed enclosure for SQ unless yaw would recommend otherwise. It is going in a Chevrolet Tahoe. I listen to mainly rock and country music with a little rap here and there. i used to have a 15" Kicker L5 that died on me. It had very LOUD but very muddy bass. It didn't have much clarity at all. thanks in advance!

  21. Hi. I'm kyle. I got a kicker L7 10" with about 500RMS AMP. I looking to get a FI as a replacement. What do you think would be a good equivalent? Or louder with good SQ? I'm going to buy a amp with 1000watt RMS. Which series would be a good consideration? I don't wanna go too expensive either. Haven't heard any of em in person so I have no idea. Can u guys help? Thanks.

Finally decided to put a system in my truck but I can't decide on 2 BTL's or d SSD 18s, either with all options of course. Will be using them in my DD but still looking for the better spl and not as worried about sq. I mostly listen to rap but also listen to every other kind of music too. They will be going into a Yukon xl so space isn't a problem. Will probably be running off on 2 saz1500d's or maybe just one saz3500d, not sure on that one yet. Opinions?

So what is the difference between a 15in Fi BL vs a 15in FI SSD with the BP power option. With that power thing the site says it will add 200-500wrms leaving the SSD at anywhere between 1000-1300wrms, while the BL is only at 1000..... given the right box (im thinkin about 32hz), will there be any noticable difference between the two subs? The SSD is noticably cheaper than the BL so would someone like me (noob) be able to tell the difference? any recomendations?
