But a badass sub can make the music kick ASS!! Just some initial impressions on my new Q 12... First comparing it to my 12" Pioneer sub: Its like comparing a baby toy to a sledge hammer. When the Fi arrived I couldnt believe how big, heavy and well made this thing was. It was probably twice the weight of the Pioneer, no joke. I got the red Fi and it looks awesome, cept I followed my original threads in the box so its at a bit of an angle. The box is sealed 1.25 cu filled with polyfill. I hooked the sub up in series and have it hooked to a pioneer class d 600w into 2 ohm amp. I know it takes time to break in the sub and I only listened for a few minutes (and would like t…

  7. Im looking at buying a BL 12. With the dual 1 ohm, hyperpole, flatwind, and universal poles. I'll be using it as a daily driver with a TMA amp (made by JL) that runs 1000 watts at 1 ohm. I have a custom made fiberglass box thats roughly 2 cubic feet and the ports can be adjusted by the addition to more 2.5" PVC on the inside of the box. Right now it is sealed off, but I can remove the seals since they reccomend ported. Any input on a set up like this? Any more input about port legnths than the webpage. Is Fi good about starting the project quickly? I understand that they're a small company and dont have time to directly respond to everyone, but I have other components alr…

I got an email from nick at Fi today saying "Personally I do not think that you have enough vent area for a single 12 with 2 2.5" ports. Typically we run 2 3" aeroports on a 12" sub and it works fine." Now I have a fiberglass box that has pre-molded 2.5 inch ports that have flares on both ends for easy breathing. now, theres are adjustable with addition of pvc piping. Will there be problems with the sub if I use the 2.5 inch pvc and just extend it a little for breathing purposes? Thanks for your help guys, I'm electronically savy, just not to specifications like porting and such. Chris

ive noticed that the SSD is quite cheaper than the L7 and it has higher RMS. im just wondering which would be louder if u were comparing a 10" L7 vs 10" SSD. and im guessing the SSD has better SQ.

I have just recently found the FI brand and from what I can see seems to be a quality product. Would like to get a couple of oppinions. The BL is listed as the inbetween sub, not as good as the flagship BTL and better than the SSD. My question is the BL has a higher power capacity than the SSD but xmax is lower. I realize that xmax is not everything when it comes to a sub but seems odd to me that the higher end sub has less linear travel than the lower end SSD. I would say that possibly this may have had something to do with sound quality but they have a seperate line for that with more xmax than all exept the BTL. I am probably only going to be able to run 1 sub if I pla…

Now I have decided to go with the cooling, the flatwind and the universal options. Which should I go with. I've been told 2 ohm, but I just want to make sure before I order the BL12. Thanks, Chris

Ok so I got my new car (Charger SRT8) and now I cant decide what to put in the trunk, so I need help. This is what im looking for. First off I dont want to take up my whole trunk. Next, I am lookin for something that has the best sound Quality possible, but at the sametime I want to be able to bang with the best of them. I,m thinking that leads me to the FI.Q, Where if at all does the SSD, and IB3 fall into this equation? I currently have a BL (not hooked up) that I bought in 2008, and had in my Maxima (I love that Speaker) but it takes up more space than I really want. I'm looking to get one of whatever I get, 12 or 15. what do you guys reccommend? Oh I will be buying t…

After doing some research I decided to order a 12" SSD D2 last night with the copper coil option. I couldn't decide whether or not to add the BP power option, though. Here's my deal. For now, I will be powering it with ~600w RMS bridged on my Profile AP1200. That's all good. But, sometime in the future I'd like to get a new amp. Probably get a monoblock that gives ~1000w at 1 or 4 ohms. My question is, do you think I should have gotten the BP power option in anticipation of doing this down the road? Would having this now affect the sub in any way beings I'm giving it lower than it's recommended power? If it matters, I will be putting the sub in a ~1.1 sealed box…

I'm trying my best to be patient and wait for more details on the new line as mentioned on the website. The 12" SSD is looking like the sub for me. Should I wait on the new stuff or go ahead and pull the trigger on the SSD? Will there be anything better or more options and upgrades available for the SSD line?

  21. Im ordering a BL 15 with hyperpole option. Im deciding on a kicker 1000.1, would this amp be big enough for the bl 15? I know kicker underrates their amps so it will most likely be closer to 1200 rms. Or would a Sundown 1500d be more sufficient?

  23. This question is directed to anyone who's willing to answer but it would be great to hear from Nick or Scott on this. I am currently powering my subwoofers with a Hifonics BXI2006D of which I'm not proud of at all. My current subwoofers consist of Hifonics Brutus BX12D2's having D2 voicecoils themselves I run them series parallel for a 2 ohm load on the amp with a supposed 1300RMS for the two which was supposed to be running them with 50wrms to spare (laughable right?). At any rate I'm ready to order my pair of 12Q's to replace the brutus subs and I"m torn between getting the D1 or D2 coils. I'm worried that powering the Q's at 1300 watts will result in less than desi…

I Was Wondering if You Have An Assembly That Could Be Used For An Old 10" Kicker Competition 8 Ohm. The Extended Pole Stillwater Designs One, The Really Old One. And A 12-Spoke Basket. I Basically Just Want To Have Some Fun With This Motor. It's A Two Inch Coil. I Can Drill Holes In The Top Plate To Accomodate The Basket. Even If It Isn't Really Worth It, This Is For Fun And Basically For The Love Of The Hobby.
