I am thinking of putting my BL 10" in my 12" fiberglass box. I want to cut a new baffel to drop into the 12" cut out for the BL to mount to. I am wondering if I will damage the sub being the box is bigger then recommended, I think FI recommends 1.2 max, I dont know how much the box will be after displacement. I am going to be powering it off a RE 12.1 1200 watts rms. What would you guys suggest? I am contemplating doing this because my 1.2 cuft box is flipping over when I mount the sub inverted. It wont drop into the cutout because the basket and terminals are just touching, also, the fiberglass box is MUCH lighter than my MDF box. Let me know what you guys think.

I was banging it at mid level volume (25 out 0f 60) for about an hour. Its getting 1200 watts rms from a 9.1 at 1 ohm, my gains must be set a little to high. I bought an old bass mechanic cd from circuit city yesterday, this morning I put it in just before I left my home, by the time I made it to work I was at the end of the cd and was listening to test tones, they went from 20hz all the way to 99hz, I only listened up to 35hz before I cut it off. I felt my amp before leaving the vehicle, it too was warm, I have never been able to get my 9.1 warm before. I then checked the BL in the trunk, the dust cap and surround were warm as well. I never once smelled any coil or glue …

I got a baffel cut for my 12" box so I could convert it to accept my BL 10", I have a box uilt to spec for the BL only its for 2 BL's. I have not got around to ordering the 2nd (money) so I had to put it in something else until I get the second. My dual box is common chamber, so I cant run it that way without the other sub. So, I put the BL in the 2.15 cuft box powered by my 9.1, 1200 rms, its very loud and low, only, I know its not good for the sub to be in a box thats too big. I hear it will make the sub super efficient (spelling) , I am thinking to add some MDF to the box to shrink it down or run the sub at 4 ohms (450 rms) until I can get the 2nd one for the dual inst…

Since both the Fi BL 12 and BL 15 are 1000 watts RMS, and I have about 1200 watts to play with, which should I get? Would there be a huge difference? And on a completely unrelated note, how do you guys go about bolting down your enclosures in your trunk? I have a 06 Sentra and below the carpet in the trunk is the spare with a piece of cardboard over it. Now there is about a foot of exposed metal running down both sides of the trunk. Just curious about how it's done. *Guess I should have asked first, will a box for a 15" BL fit in the trunk of a Sentra? Thanks.

So I guess this isn't really Fi specific but I've got this box modeled up in sketchup and I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to add an angled piece to each corner and to cut an angle into the inside turn of the port at the corner or if leaving it the way it is would be fine. I haven't ever heard a back to back comparison with two similar boxes, one with the angled corners and one without so any input would be great!

I plan on ordering a BL12 and am not sure on what amp to get. I was looking at the Alpine PDX 1.1000 for one BL12. Should that do that job or is it not enough watts?

Hey, I've been looking at Fi car audio for a while to help fix my BMW's horrible lack of bass. I was originally looking at the 12" Q but after reading around I decided that the BL would better suit my needs, I now am at this problem I know my trunk can fit the optimum box dimensions for the 10" and 12" but I dont really want to sacrifice all that space but then I want it to also to be hitting pretty hard. Also whats a good amp recommendation for the best price/performance

well im trying to plan my setup... already got it down to a fully loaded for daily driving BL 12inch subwoofer to go with my RF amp that pushes 1602watts rms.... the box will be around 2-2.5cubes after displacement... have to run all the numbers after i gut my current setup.... and well i plan on running my same box setup in my civic to have it front firing into the cabin... and well i have a slot port in my box but im wanted to rebuild my trunk setup and this time instead of having a slot port id like to use some aero port or ports..... want to use some 4inch aero ports for the setup.. BUT im always HORIBLE with calculating ports.... ive always had people run the number…

Well i got a decent amount of money back on my taxes so its time for a new system. I have decided on a bl 15 dual 1 ohm and I just want to make sure i got this right. My enclosure is 3.5 cuft after all displacement tuned to 32hz using two 4" tube ports each 15" long. I also will be using a memphis 1500d (1500 watts at 2 ohms). Does all that sound good? Any advice on what options I should add to the sub when ordering? Thanks guys I appreciate it.

So my buddy has the newest version of the 12" Type R that he wants to upgrade. Here's the details, and hopefully I can give enough info. He has an ONX1.1500. He also has EQ'ing at 30, 45, 60, and I think 80hz. We'll make a ported box, but it'll need to be on the smaller side, maybe 3-3.5ft^3 net. His Type R is tuned to 33hz at ~1.5ft^3 net, I know that's not the only way to judge things, but he may want to go a bit lower on tuning frequency, maybe 28-30hz (this is in a 2000 Explorer btw, and any port frequency opinions for this sub are definitely appreciated). This dude needs a tough sub, he can be hard on stuff He wants loud, and if he goes on a trip, he may play the su…

Ok i'm going to be building a box for a Bl 15 4.0^3ft @32hz. And I was wondering where would be the best place to mount the speaker in the box. Its going to be a slot ported box. Should i have it closer to the edge of the port or the other end of the enclosure? What about the top? I hope this isnt to confusing. I just want to know if there is an optimal position for the sub on the box.

ok here's what i got...99 mustang rear seat delete wanna do a bl 15 d1 sub up port back in a 4.36cf box@33hz(that's internal)...i was told on here that fi's specs for cf are after speaker displacement...internal dimesions for box are 15x15x33.5...as for the port i got 4x15x25.66....does this sound cool...btw that 4.36cf is before port/bracing deplacement..as i stated earlier i was told that the fi specs for speaker displacement are already included....if someone can confirm that this is all good i would greatly appreciate it

Is 5ft^3 net to much for a BL 15 running on 1200wrms?? My plan is to make a box with an 8" or 10" PVC aero port. If Im correct... 1. With 5ft^3 net and an 8" port would give me 10 in^2 of port area per ft^3 box area. 10 in^2 seems to low... 2. With 5ft^3 net and a 10" port that would give me 15.7 in^2 per ft^3 box area. 3. But FI recomends running 4ft^3 box and with an 8" port that would give me 12.5 in^2 per ft^3 box area. If I tune my box at 32hz which option would work the best for daily use on all types of music?? Any help would be aewsome.

I noticed that on the first view of the cut sheet for the bl 15 that it says the width of the box is 33 3/4" but on the other two views it is 34" , is that some kind of mix up or am I missing something?

Whats up everyone. I'm new to this site and im looking for some help with my box build. I just got a Fi Bl 15 dual 1 fully loaded and i am wondering what dimensions i should use to get the most slap outta this sub. I went to RE Audio and used there box calculator and came up with: W: 38" H: 18" D: 17.5"... Port width: 4" port Length 12.75. Second port length: 16"....with 4.2 cu ft. in total for volume. Box is Tuned to: 31.63 hz Does that sound alright? Also im buying a Hifonics BXi 2010D to power the BL so id be giving it 2000 watts. Is that to much? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I ordered a mild Built FI audio BL 15 last month. It showed up last night. Unfortunately it has a big chip out of the top magnet. I want to run this inverted so now this is throwing that idea all off. The Sub was packaged very well from them and the box sustained no damage anywhere during shipping. Must have slipped past FI Audio on the way out the door. I know it probably isn't going to hurt anything but for looks sake it's really bugging me. Its there a Rubber boot or something that I could cover the two magnets with so it doesn't stand out so much? I see some other sub brands have these boot's or covers. Here's a pic. It's kind of crappy but the Magnet was jack…
