Hello guys, I am new to this site, and just getting back into car audio. I am planning to run a 15" Fi Q powered by a Cadence TXA-1000D. From what I have read I will benefit from a ported enclosure because I like to listen to rap and music of the like. I was planning on using a slot port enclosure because of the area required for these ports. I have used WinISD properly I believe and have gotten a 3.5 cf chamber tuned to 32 hertz. I used a port size of 3x16.5 and got a length of 29.35 inches. Does this sound remotely close? I also have a question based on sizing the box as I am having trouble fitting a box this size in my trunk along with two cadence amps while maintaini…

  3. I am thinking about getting a pair of fi q 12's I am going to be running them ported in a daily trunk setup on a Saz-3500v2. I am getting the cooling option for sure but for I am not sure if I should get the extra spider & the internal lead options, I am thinking no on these options but I would like some opinions before I drop my cash on these subs.

  4. I am currently waiting on my q12 dual 2 to arrive, and it is going in my work van (E-150) Passenger Converted to cargo. I have a two fold question I would like it if the box were no more then 15" front to back considering the sub facing front. My current setup has the sub firing into the back of the drivers seat as this is where it is the most protected and less likely to be damaged. I wouldn't mind using the ported box cutsheet for a Q12 as shown but I would have to put legs on the "face" and set it up so it was downfiring at the floor in order be able to carry the amount of tools/cabinets I typically do. (I am a cabinet maker so I can build anything you can imagine …

Hello, I have a kicker zx.750 and a single kicker 12 inch solo-baric L7 woofer. I tried a ported enclosure and now it is in a sealed enclosure, but I just am not getting the bass I am looking for. I have been looking into a Q series woofer and was wondering what size people would recommend and how big of an enclosure for the wattage put out by the zx.750. I currently have a 1992 lexus es300 (4 door sedan) but may possibly be buying a 1998 ford expedition. Could somebody give me some advice about what to do?

Hi there, I am not sure exactly what I need to have all my settings set at to run my bl 15" and need a little help.. The box is 4 cubes and tuned to 33hz, more importantly the amp is a hifonics brutus BXI-1210D, I need help tuning this for the bl! The amp has "level" or "gain" 9v-0.2v, "Phase"0-180, "bass eq" 0-10db, "subsonic" 15-35Hz, and the "lowpass" 35-250Hz. I need to know where to put the Phase, and Lowpass the most but if someone knows exactly how to tune everything feel free to tell me!! Thank you!

I own a BL and am buying an SP4. will this box design work perfectly for the SP4 and well enough for the BL? did i screw up on anything? at the bottom of my port i have bracing crossing it, will this be an issue? should the port be fully open down to the bottom of the box? i could not find any great info on port area for the SP4 so im sitting a bit over the 16 multiplier right now. i was thinking of adding a bit of that fluff to the box to make the sub feel it was in an enclosure closer to 8 cubic; is this a good idea? im going for SQ at high volume, or at least as much SQ as the SP4 can give me. what should i change, all opinions welcome. thank you. http://imgur.…

As I stated in another topic, I burnt one of the voice coils in one of my 12" SSDs. One of the voice coils is still fine. I was just wondering...until I get the recone kit in the mail, is there any way to wire up my amp to just one of the voice coils? The reason I thought about this is I did the AA battery test (hooking up the + and - to the sub to hear the pop) and since that made noise, I was thinking maybe it could run off one voice coil. If that is possible, would it be bad to have one sub like that and one sub wired normally? Technically wouldn't it just be 1.5 ohms? My amp is 1 ohm stable. Thanks a bunch, Mike

So im about to build my first ported box and i need a little help. My 15" bl will be getting 2000 watts and has cooling and flatwind options. This will be going into a 96 infiniti i30 (same as maxima) My goal is to have the best LSQ setup as possible leaning more towards spl. I think i want to tune ~35. If the box is 4 cubes with the tuning at 35, is a port size of 4W x 13h x 21.8L correct? Is that enough port area? And is that a good tuning for my goal? Also if i use 2 circular ports that are 4" in diameter and 10.5 inches long would that be enough port area and the right tuning? Thanks a lot -Rick

how much power could one safely put into a fully loaded Fi q 18? i got my sp4 fixed and will be testing some boxes but if i dont get the sounds i want i am going to sell it and buy another sub. the Q seems a logical choice as i want more frequencies but also want to keep the volume. i am undecided on single or dual or sealed vs ported. my thought was that if i replace the SP4 i would get 2 q's and thus have greater cone area with more control and higher bass frequency range. in my mind that would mean i could get more volume out of them than the sp4. the power handling would be close to the same

Has anyone used the IB3 series subwoofers, specifically the 18" in a home audio open baffle application? If so, what were the results and how much eq was needed, if any? If ordered new, does anyone recommend any modifications during manufacturing that would improve OB performance? Thank you!

Bought a new Fi Q 12 and i was wondering if you guys could help me out with the enclosure, i have a hatchback its a golf with Cdt es-520 with upstage up front and cl-61a in the rear powered by a Directed 1100d5 and strapped to 600d for 1200watts @ 2ohm for the sub. i listen to wide range of music but mostly reggae, hip-hop, r&b, rap, pop, and some classics. My goal is sound quality but i would also like it to be loud at the same time without sacrificing sound quality and with that said would a sealed or ported enclosure best suit my hatchback. Thanks guys!!!

  20. hey guys i was looking for someone to help me try to design a dual reflex bandpass for my 2 15's, idk if this is something that each sub would beed its own box, if so thats fine but i would like both of them to be in the same one. if this is gonig to be a bad idea just tell me and i can make a slot ported box for them. i would just going to try something new. hoping to have them tuned to about 32-34hz i will be running them off a BC5500d. i have 4 yello caps, with another under the hood. i am using 4 RF power series, 2 6.5's in the front and 2 6x9's in the back running off a rf T8004. big 3 done with fat mat everywhere. planning on using MDF with a lot of fiberglass on th…

I just recently bought 2 FI BL 12's fully loaded with 4 inch voice coils. I have 2 questions for the forum if you guys can please help with me. First i am running a Rockford Fosgate 2500-1bdcp on the and since the subs are dual 1 ohm is this enough power for them? Second, the enclosure i had built for them is 4.23 cubic feet after everything and tuned to 33 hz. Will they sound good in this enclosure or should i have made it bigger? The amp puts out 3,526 watts total. Thanks in advance.

Sooo, I am now in the process of designing my box for a single 10" sub down firing in a ported enclosure. I got the rough idea for the design from those AudioFire boxes for trucks. The sub will be down firing right behind the center console, the main box will go up to right above the rear seat from the ground, the port would then go from the box to the back of the seat and do a 90 degree and back towards the front seat. So, the port is going to be pretty much external from the main portion of the box....my question is, how do I go about figuring out the tuning frequency of this port? It is going to be a fairly thin port but pretty long and I am just not to sure. At th…

My 12 " Qs sounded bad since i bought them a few weeks ago (used) so today i figured i would build a new ported box for just 1 instead of having both in a sealed box. This is what i found when i took the woofer out. Looks like the motor wants off the basket pretty bad!!!!!
