I bought my SP415 dual 2 ohm back in October and received it in November and after only 5 months of use, the foam surround is ripped. I can't seem to figure out how this could have happened so any input would be great. Also curious if this is covered by FI's warranty. But here's the setup: -1999 Grand Prix GT Sedan -FI SP415 dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm. No spaced spider and no cooling (daily use, didn't see the need) -AQ2200d tuned to 2100 watts RMS using a multimeter -DIYMA oversized 0awg CCA power (appx. 22') and ground (3') with a 200 amp circuit breaker near the battery -Optima Yellow Top -Ohio Generators HO Alt (its an older model but I had them test it and it puts o…

I'm really considering using Fi subs for a new comp setup. Vehicle is a full size pickup, so it will be a blow through solution. The primary question is, which sub(s) to go with. Goals: 150db at headrest, 130db outside on music. It will be entered in MECA's spl and park and pound format. P&P being the 130db outside goal. The two goals are the max points I can attain for what I'm looking for. Obviously if it is higher that's fine. One individual at the 2012 finals did a 155/129 on 4 speakers in a wall (don't know brand and I think they were 15's). I was originally thinking of a single 18, but I'm not sure that will get there. Also, if possible, I'd like to keep the b…

Hello guys, So I need some help with understanding what is going on with my trunk. I had a bmw sedan E36 style, 2X 12" Qs and a RF T15001d... I open the trunk the subs are not distorting what so ever at 3/4vol on the head unit after DMM the amp to the recommended RMS value, But i close the trunk and it sounds like complete hell in the car. Its like the bass is trapped in the trunk? Do you guys think i should make a new deck out of wood with huge holes in it, and cut the metal one out so that I can get some pressure loss in the trunk, so that the pressure will go into the cab? Also the box is at 4 cuin @ 32.5 hz, "thats all i could fit in the trunk, theres not alot of ro…

I've seen where eveyone says speaker terminals suck, so whats the best one to use? And if its bolt terminal, do i just put a hole in the mdf and put a 3/8" bolt through it? How do i hook the wires to it on each side? I realize this is probably about as noob as it gets too, but i mentioned big 3 to one of the big 'audio' shops around here, and they looked at me like i was an idiot for thinking there was such a thing (i'm saying this just to show you i have noone to learn from in the local area haha). Thanks

I finally ordered knukonceptz wiring today, and it should be here within a few days, and i'm planning on making one last trip to the hardware store. I was planning on screwing the sub in, but i really dont want to anymore because 1. not sure if it will be sufficient and 2. the image of silver bolts coming out the sides of the black sub seems badass So what size (diameter) bolts should i ask for? The hole is 3/16, but do they make a bolt that size? Thanks for reading, Mitch o btw, the sub is 18 bl, doubt it matters though.

I have an FiQ 15 and it bottomed out on about 5 notes for less than 30 seconds due to faulty ground wire. I was just wondering if any permanent damage could have been done to the sub? It plays fine now after securing the ground wire, but i'm just waiting for something to pop.

Just ordered a Q 12" 2ohm with cooling and spider option. This will be my first car audio setup so I am super excited. I know I want to go ported but I'm not sure if it should be firing toward the rear or firing up. It will be going in a 2000 Eclipse. Thoughts? I've been looking at amps. Thinking 1500W-1700W. I've read a lot of good things about Sundown amps. Was looking at the SAZ-1500D V.2 Then I came across the HiFonics BRE1600.1D and BRZ1700.1D both are priced at $200. Seems like a good deal vs. the $525 for the Sundown. Anyone have any experience with HiFonics amps? Are they any good or should I just save a little longer and go with Sundown? I'm really a noob to …

i want to get a 15" BTL and put it in a 1999 dodge stratus. i cant decide if i want a ported box with the BTL firing at a 45 degree angle towards the trunk and have the port firing towards the seats (i currently leave my back seat down, it is MUCH louder). OR go with a sealed box with the BTL firing towards the seats with my back seat down. i was thinking a Hifonics Brutus 2406 for it, which is 2,400 watts RMS at 1 ohm. i would get it fully loaded. PLEASE MAKE ALL THE RECOMMENDATIONS YOU WISH! another thing is the new BTL's, there is no triple stack magnet!?!?!?!?!?!? it is just a single magnet, why would they to that???

I didn't think that I'd do this but. Heh, it happens. I'm a complete boxbuilding noob. I know how many cuft Fi recommends and how much port area they recommend. But, I've tried my hand at it and failed. But anyways, Here are my max specs. 49 inches wide 27 inches deep 16(I may be able to squeeze 16.5 out of it) inches tall I'd like to do the port either on the left or in the middle. But, since I have seen/read/heard loading problems I'm pretty unsure as to what to do. I may be concerned about being loud but i would much rather have my woofers happy and lasting longer. I love reading posts about box tuning and loading. Since that is probably the only area of car audio that…

Hello, I have been thinkging about buying a new sub and one of the members of another forum I visit is always raving about Fi subs so I decided to have a look for myself. I have been trying to read up on the forum and think I have decided on a sub, but I am not too sure about the box. Based on what I have read it seems that a 12" Q is what I am looking for. I want a good sounding sub with the ability to play low and loud. I only really want 1 sub as my trunk space is limited and I'm not trying to win any spl competitions. Basically it will be in my daily driver. Right now I am still in the research stage but have no clue about a box. I don't know if sealed or port…

Well here it goes, I am planning on running 2 18" Q series Fi's in my daily driver(2000 GMC Safari). I need box design ideas for this aplication, I want it to be more aimed at sq then db. I am running a Alpine pdx 1000.1 to each 18 at 4ohms at 1000watts rms. The room I have available for the build in the back measures 50 inches wide by 34 inches deep by 21 inches tall. plan on useing 3/4 mdf for box. Pritty much need to know everything what hrz to tune it at, How many ports, what size ports, slot ported or round. Let me know what you think any ideas would be a great help.
