Before my son was born, I was running 18's and I really miss the output of that setup. So I am thinking of sending in my 12's to get re-coned as 18's, or if its not to hard, just doing the re-cone myself. Yes, I am tempted to off load the two 12"s and just get a 18' xcon or BTL, but with hardly any more power, and 1/2 the cone area, this setup should be louder theoretically. Secondly, I am not a box designer at all and I am completely lost as to what works and doesn't. This is a daily setup. I don't compete. Using RE's Calculator just as a ref, it looks like the max volume I am able to get is around 13.5 cubes before displacement. That is leaving a bit of space between…

Can someone give me the screw hole diameter of the 15" Fi BL? I saw the outer diameter was 15.625" but did not see a screw hole diameter. I am working with limited height and don't want the screws to be lined up on one of the boxes wall. Hoping I can save around a 0.5" inch on the height just having the outer surround overlay on the outer 3/4" edge of the box. Thank you for any help! I would measure it myself but I am ordering the woofer in the next few days and want to start the build now.

I currenty have thhe two subs in a 4th order blowthrough off of a 4500d on 16 volts. Gains were set around 1/2 way and it pounded for bout 4 days. Then I decided to turn it up a little. Between 1/2 and 3/4. Now the subs don't seem near as loud to me..could it be I'm just gettinng used to them? I'm gonna check with the dmm tomorrow and read the coils and see how many watts the amp is putting out...I hope I didn't mess anything up:(

i bought 2 bl 18's d2's in 2008, one in october, one in november. Now i am wanting to run 3 18's but was told not to mix those 2 with newer bl 18. I got these 2 with cooling, flatwind and universal options. Do you have any older bl's in stock or stuff to build one? Or could I run a new one with those? thanks

I am running an AQ-1200D @ .7 ohms to a 15 BL and my friend installed it yesterday and set the gain on the amp a little less than half way and when i turn the bass knob about 3/4 up and turn the volume up to like 25 out of 35 the clipping indicator on the bass knob illuminates on and off with the bass hits on some notes. its aggravating the shit out of me because I just spent alot of money and I dont want my shit to fuck up. He told me the amp could be too small for the sub or the HU is sending out bad waves to the amp. It sounds amazing, dont get me wrong. I just wanted some advice on how to get the clipping to stop. I have a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X792 head unit and it has…

This is my setup: A US Acoustics USB-2150 rated for 450 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms powering an 18" Fi Audio IB3 at 4 ohms. I have a seemingly solid install now, but my score has stayed the same, 132 and change on both the termlab and my spl labs lcd bass meter. Check out my build HERE. I decided to test the output of one of my sub amps. I tested with tones from 25hz to 65hz. I checked the AC voltage output of the amp. Simultaneously I checked the output amperage to the sub at the positive wire to the sub. With these numbers I calculated the wattage by multiplying the volts times the amps. I also calculated the impedance by dividing the voltage by amperage. This is what I got 25Hz…

hey guys heres the deal, i finally got my ported box completed and installed the D2 15" BL, hooked up the amp (aq1200d) to 1 ohm, saw that my fuse is blown so i had to use my friends to see if everything was working.. the amp was showing power, and hooked up a capacitor just to see and it was getting the proper volts, but NO response from the sub, no movement at all. We were soo confussed, everything looked properly installed. just wondering if anyone has any ideas! Please help, i appreciate any given. I miss the bass also how do i properly tune my amp, and where do i put the knob angled at on the subsonic, i need it set about 30 hz which is 2 under the box tuning, but t…

I picked this sub for cheap and all I have to power it is a sundown that pushes 600rms at 2ohm just was wondering if it would be okay to give the sub such low rms compare to what it could handle. or should I just get another amp that does 1000 at 2ohm. Also I have kinectic batteries with a 120amp alt wondering if that be fine or would I have to upgrade it anything. 12.8v and 14.5 at startup i think.

I am running 3 Fi Q15's. The box is 10.2cuft internal after port and sub displacement. The port is 5" x 28.5" and 26.25" long. Is that a proper amount of port area? That should put my tuning right around 32hz.

which one would sound louder (spl) because i like the idea of having an 18 but i only have room for about 5 cubes so after diplacement and all that it would be in the 4cu/ft range like i know it would have more cone area but in a box too small for it btl would have the cooling and himax coil options

Hello, today was one of the worst days ever, and what happened I thought never would, but it. So I'm here today to ask for advice. I was mounting the sub (15 fI Bl) and my hand slipped and ripped the outer foam ring around the sub. It's closer outside towards the steel ring where the holes are, and you can't see it unless you fold the ring. I managed to stop and retract and not run the whole screw drover through, but it did rip. Upon inspecting it closely I lost no material, it's just a 1/8 inch long tear. My question is this fixable? In been reading like crazy and can only see two common solutions. Silicone or superglue. I am leaning more towards the silcone because it w…
