Here is my problem/hold up. I am getting a new truck, one for pure audio fun, full size of course. I will be doing a cut through, so the entire bed is game. I want tons of SPL, enough to make your stomach almost turn. I want 4 15's and am not sure what to go with BTL or BL. I know I need some good amps to push them. What all power wise (wires, alt, extra batteries) would I need and about how much/where can I get a alternator from. I have some crap P3's now and want to do a massive jump up. I got addicted and my friends are killin me, want to destroy them. Thanks

  5. I want to make sure I'm not going to burn up my coil on my SSD. I bought my sub 4+ years ago (I don't remember exactly), copper coil option only. Back then they were rated at 800rms. I have it wired down to 1 ohm, so it should be receiving 1200 watts+ since I have read lots of times that Sundown amps usually do over rated power. I set my gains using an SMD DD-1. I know these are frowned upon by a lot of people as a waste of money, but I didn't buy it and just borrowed it from someone who did. It helps to set gains so there's no distortion, so I'm assuming nothing is clipping. That's just my assumption though. I set up my headunit, sub amp and mains amp all with the DD…

i have 2 18btls but only one can fit in my car with a ported box. actually i want to sell one btl but in case i dont find a customer who buys it for a reasonable price, can i put both btls in a sealed box? as the other btl would just lay around losing price. i know fi doesnt recommend that. and i know i will lose alot of spl. but how would the sq change?

So i just got my dual 2 ohm 15 inch BTL fully loaded and I am going to run a 2100 hifonics amp to power it. So today i go to my local car audio shop so they can install it for me and they said that they can only wire it down to 3 ohm or .75 ohm because the voice coils are 1.4 ohm each...However, everyone else on this forum says they are running their 2 ohm Fi sub down to 1 ohm. I am a complete car audio noob so if someone could please tell me if this is true or not i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

So I just ordered two of these X 10's without really paying close attention. I have an Audiopipe APSM1300 amp that does 600@2ohm and 1000@1ohm. My question is are these subs maybe a little underrated because I've also read these amps might be a little overrated. I can always turn the gains and bass level down and go easy on the volume knob. Does this sound like it may work? I dont really have much more of a budget for subs. Im also not looking to be real loud.

I would dare to say I am pretty cautious. I have a 12" Q dual 2, cooling and all that, and am running a 1000 watt rms mono amp to it. I was just kinda curious as to whether it was possible to blow the sub with that amp or do any damage to it. I have the level a pretty safe setting and make sure to keep the bass equalizer down, but i would like to get a little more out of it. Any insight would be appreciated

  11. i don't really want to take up the whole back window up i did some measurements and i can do a box that's 52.5W x 24.5H x 16.5 deep. externally that's 12.28 Cuft 10.18 cuft internal. After displacements of the 2 18's and 3 6 inch aeroports that are 12 inches long each it gives it an internal volume of 9.083. will this be enough for 2 18's for bass racing the 140-149.9 class? i am ordering 4 Sundown 1500's when jacob gets the new ones in. i plan on strapping at 1.4 so each amp will see .7. i also will have 6 optima group 31 yellow top batteries.

I'm really considering using Fi subs for a new comp setup. Vehicle is a full size pickup, so it will be a blow through solution. The primary question is, which sub(s) to go with. Goals: 150db at headrest, 130db outside on music. It will be entered in MECA's spl and park and pound format. P&P being the 130db outside goal. The two goals are the max points I can attain for what I'm looking for. Obviously if it is higher that's fine. One individual at the 2012 finals did a 155/129 on 4 speakers in a wall (don't know brand and I think they were 15's). I was originally thinking of a single 18, but I'm not sure that will get there. Also, if possible, I'd like to keep the b…

  16. I'm planning on getting a 12" Fi Q (dual 1 ohm with cooling, spider and heat ring) and putting it in a ported box and I am on the hunt for an amp to boot. I think I found what i want and its a Hifonics HFi1000D but i also saw a Hifonics HFi1200D for $50 more so i was wondering if its a good idea to go with the extra 200 watts and if i should just stay around 1000 watts since thats what the sub is rated at. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23548_Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ1200.1D.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22705_Hifonics-HFi1000D.html edit: added the amps link.

Hey guys, I think i'm going to be purchasing a Q12. I have reservations that I have the space for an adequete box though. I have a 2002 BMW 325i. Here are a few pics of the way my backseat/trunk is (borrowed from a bimmer forum): and i was hoping to have it look something like this when it was complete: As you can see the setup is geared towards a show car, but I do actually drive the car around quite a bit, so sound quality is a concern of mine. How practical would something like that setup be for sound quality? SPL doens't matter as much for me. Thanks

I have the following system... '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2 18" Fi BLs 2 Rockford Fosgate T10001's 1 Rockford Fosgate p500-2 1 Pair Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5" components 1 Pair Alpine Type R Coaxial 6.5" Lots of Lightning Audio Wire Alpine CDA-7897 Head Unit + 6 Disk Changer 225 amp Excessive Amperage alternator Box tuned to about 34 hz My question is, I cannot for the life of me get my subs to play the same. They are phase, wired with 8 gauge, and the polarity is correct (as long as the subs are labeled correctly). I have the amps set for master/slave, set to give each sub 1400 watts. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

thinking about running a second battery in the trunk. i was told there are two ways of doing this. 1, using a isolator and 2, running the + from the front battery all the way to the second battery and then ground out the negitive. are these both true? what should i do?

I have a 12'' Q with Bp and its powered by a hifonics 1208d. I was wondering if the amount of cubes made it sound different. I know it does but how much. I wanted to go with a 2.5^3 tuned to 32 hz. The only problem with this is idk if i will have the space. So would 2 cubes sound any different and how?
